[closed] The boys are back... out of town
WHO: Red + Blue
WHERE: In the Appalachians somewhere??
WHEN: Thanksgiving Day
WHAT: For Blue's birthday, Red took him camping. Cute boyfriend shit ensues.
WARNINGS: Mentions of and near-hankypanky
[Pokémon trainers took to the outdoors like Magikarp to water, and the boys had left bright and early to get out into the wilderness that day (or... as bright and early as one could with a massive hangover from the drinking and partying the previous night). This was the trip Blue had been planning for when he'd disappeared, for the past week; this was what he'd wanted, all these years. Just him and Red and their Pokémon, exploring and enjoying the fresh air and new sights around them.]
[The air was cool and crisp enough for them to bundle up, but that meant the uphill hiking in the mountain trails they'd picked out was refreshing, and they spent the day following creeks, catching glimpses of woodland creatures and letting their Pokémon roam around and explore with them. A wide and fresh river- the 'Delaware', Blue announced it was called, from a map- provided a place for Gyarados and Blastoise to play in, Charizard soared overhead, Exeggutor walked about examining new trees and flowers.]
[By the time late afternoon was setting in and the sun began to set, they'd found a decent clearing area off one of the trails overlooking a craggy cliff area, where all the color-changing leaves could be seen stretching out below. The Pokémon were resting up nearby, a small campfire was lit to cook over, and they'd pitched a tent to snuggle up in for the night, a small heating lamp sat in the corner within and a cozy sleeping bag rolled out. Blue leaned up against Red, flipping idly through his Pokédex and chatting as they waited for dinner to cook.] Hey, at your zoo, do they have any really rare animals?

[The last week had been hard - impossibly hard. But this is where he and Blue were supposed to be. Just them and their Pokémon and the wilderness. It was almost like being back home on their journeys - but, this time, they were together.
[Settling into their campsite for the night, Red is content to have Blue lying back against him, head to chest, Red's fingers scratching lightly at his boyfriend's scalp while he thumbs through his Pokédex.
[He shrugs a bit at the question. Honestly, Red hasn't really been paying too much attention to what's rare and what's not - animals are animals, Pokémon are Pokémon and whatnot. But he knows that, at the very least, a lot of the animals in the De Chima Zoo aren't native to the state.]
Some.
Like lions.

[He glances down at it again for a long moment, and sighs out.] Kinda miss Rhyperior. Hope he’s doin’ okay...
[Well, of course by now, he knew his Pokémon had all been just fine once he went home again, briefly. He flips to the lions, glancing at them.] Wonder where we gotta travel to to see them in the wild... [Truth be told, even when they were in the Battle Tree, he got the itch to just ditch and go exploring around Alola.] Huh, Red? Don’t this make you wanna go traveling around again?
no subject
I miss it.

We should check it out, huh? I looked at a map and it seems like it's halfway towards this world's Kanto region, too. [He pulls up a map after clicking around a search on his comm for a moment, flicking through photos that come up for 'Hawaii'.] I wonder how the animals there compare to Alolan Pokémon...
no subject
[Red tilts his head to the side a bit, taking Blue's communicator from him to inspect the pictures. Sand, deep blue oceans, and palm trees - just like Alola, really. It brings another small smile to Red's face.]
Let's go.
Kanto, too.

Heh, bet you can even fill up on malasadas all you like there, huh? [He elbows Red lightly in the side of his stomach, that glutton-- speaking of, his stomach is liable to growl any moment. He rolls up and goes to check the campfire.] Man, hope the grub's ready...

[Red catches his arm as Blue rolls himself up, gently tugging him back. Now seems as good a time as any, right? He knows they're likely to pass out once all that food hits them (after some...choice activities, probably). He wants to make sure to give Blue his gift before then. That way he can use it tomorrow maybe on their journey back.]
no subject
[Blue stops and glances back, just steps away from the food, and pouts.] What is it, already? I'm starving. [He flops back down next to Red, leaning into his hand, knee pressing against the other man's.]
no subject
[But it's what's on the inside that counts. A special bag that Red had custom made just for Blue.
[It's not too often that Red gets nervous, but it's not too often that he puts this much thought into a birthday gift either. He'd made an entire post about it, after all, and after a huge laundry list of ideas (some including talks of engagement), Cisco's won out as the best - something practical, stylish, green like Blue's favorite color.
[Grotle, he just really hopes Blue likes this.]

[A warm grin blooms on his face as he stares down at it before he tears into it, and when the contents become visible, his eyes widen in surprise.] Huh!? This is... [A new backpack, and a pretty frolicking cool one at that. It was even his favorite shade of green! He turns it over in his hands, looking at all the pockets, the individual spots for his Pokéballs, the care that went into it, unable to fight the beaming grin it put on his face.]
[Finally he looks up again and leans forward, cupping Red's cheek and pulling him forward into a kiss, murmuring into his lips.] It's awesome. You're the best, Reddy.
no subject
You like it?

[After another moment to look the bag over in his hands, he props it against the pack he'd brought up the hike with them to transfer things into in the morning, and scoots back closer to Red. It was warm by the little fire they'd kindled, the Pokémon curled up on the other side and them seated together on a heavy branch, and the stars were shining up overhead. It was just like being on a journey again, but better.]
[Blue's fingers inch up Red's leg as he leans in for another kiss. Well, until the food was ready, why not show some appreciation...?]

[This is how it should have been, he thinks again. All of those years spent traveling on their own, avoiding if not downright antagonizing one another. They had just been kids back then. But this? This is really how it's supposed to be.
[How it will be, he thinks - forever, if he can help it.
[He pulls away practically humming, keeping their heads together and an arm wrapped firmly around Blue's middle, rocking with him a bit on the log.]
I love you.
[It's getting easier to say out loud - that and Red is making a concerted effort to say more things in general. But he could say that all day, he thinks, if Blue would hear it.]
no subject
Red... [He murmurs, almost a plea- maybe to hear it again, maybe for something else, as he goes in for another kiss- deeper, this time, an arm hooking around the back of Red's neck and the other pressed against his chest. It makes him weak to hear those words, and he's sure Red knows that, but he couldn't even be mad if the other exploited it.]

What the heck, they're just getting frolicky again. [Eevee snorts in disgust, and settles back into his ball of fluff in the grass by the fire next to Pikachu.] Honestly, even though I'm glad Blue's stopped moping around all the time, they can't wait for dinner first? I'm staaarvu~iing.
[...Not that Blue can understand any of this. He's too busy sputtering up at Red pink-faced as he rubs where a rock was jabbing him in the hip.] Sheesh, you could warn me first!
no subject
Tch. [Pikachu makes a sound and twitches its tail a bit, very pointedly turning its back on the two trainers.] He started it. All your trainer ever wants to do is frolick with mine.
[That one gets Red's attention, and suddenly he's sitting bolt upright from the ground, ears and cheeks rapidly taking on his namesake.]
...!
no subject
[Eevee's ears twitch as Red bolts upright, eyes narrowing as he remembers Red's new powers.] Ah, he heard us. Hey, Red, go take Blue into that tent and make some eggs, we'll just eat all of your dinners too! Vuevuevue.
[Blue, of course, has no idea what's being said, so when Red suddenly bolts upright while he was trying to get the man back into the mood with some lips traveling over his neck, he groans.] What, what's wrong?? [Here, Blue'll start cupping through Red's pants, that's better right?]
no subject
[Red all but slaps Blue's hand away from his crotch, jumping up to a stand now and rushing over to the fire to start fiddling with the food, his face just about purple at this point while Pikachu slumps over on Eevee and makes a sound that can only really be described as cackling.]
no subject
[He turns his head in time to catch Pikachu slump over and narrows his eyes as they catch Eevee's, making the vulpine Pokémon stiffen up. Oops, caught.]
C'mere, you little-- [Blue rolls over and snatches him up, dumping him in his lap and proceeding to noogie.] What're you two little troublemakers over there saying that I can't hear, huh!?
no subject
[Pikachu's tail twitches again and he gives a small huff. Calm down. He can't hear us, remember?
[Red lets out a shaky sigh. That's right. But then shoots Pikachu a look while the rat continues to snicker.]
no subject
[Please try not to burn or drop the food, Red.]
no subject
[E-eevee, please don't say that!]
no subject
[Exeggutor, who has been trying to hibernate in peace now that the sun has gone down, finally speaks up to chide the Naughty little starters from the other side of the camp.] If you keep teasing him like that, you won't get to eat at all.
[Blue finally turns to Red, exasperated.] What are they all on about, huh?
no subject
[Nothing, nothing!
[A few feet away, Pikachu rolls its eyes, giving Blue's knee a whap with his tail as he walks by and then planting himself in front of Red.
[Okay, okay. We'll stop. Don't burn the food!]
no subject
[Eevee lands perfectly on all fours and trots after said shitrat, planting next to him and awaiting his own dinner.] Yeah, and make it snappy! Then you can go back to your frolicking for all I care, vue.
