November catch-all!
WHO: Laurel Lance and YOU
WHERE: Across Porter cities
WHEN: Mid to end November
WHAT: Dinner, Justice League, vigilantism and floral arranging!
WARNINGS: Mentions of fighting. Will update if necessary
Petal to the Metal (Heropa): OPEN
[With the holiday season coming up, the shop was busy. Laurel had committed to taking on overtime in order to keep things ticking over, knowing how important it was to her manager and the other employees. She never thought she'd be able to put together such beautiful floral arrangements but after over a year of working in the store, Laurel had become quite skilled. It was also nice to bring a smile to the face of her customers, make friends with the regulars and inspiring them to come up with gifts for their loved ones.
Anyone who comes across Laurel in the store when she's working will find her humming to herself. There's a slight spring in her step too. She's happy about something. Or well, someone. Laurel doesn't allow herself to become too distracted from her work, but she is thinking about what to get Major for Christmas. Then there were also her friends to buy for and she was considering helping out at one of the community shelters during the holidays.
When she isn't at the cash register, Laurel is in the stock room or at the front window, putting out some more samples of the floral arrangements. Happy to help as always!]
Vigilantism (All porter cities): OPEN
[In Maurtia Falls the Black Canary apprehends a few members of a local drug gang, busting up their operation. She manages to get off easy, only suffering a couple of bruises and scrapes, but she'll probably feel it more the next day. On another night she stops a few muggers- one of them has a knife and he manages to nick in her forearm but it's not deep. Stings like a bitch though.
It didn't matter to her because at least the civilians were safer- both natives and imPorts alike.
Nonah wasn't as dangerous as Maurtia Falls, and yet Laurel still patrolled the streets, high on alert for any sign of criminal activity. She does look kind of intimidating in her vigilante outfit which is what Laurel was going for. Apparently it isn't intimidating enough for some people because some of the natives come up to her and ask for selfies or for autographs; Laurel obliges but doesn't linger too long before making her excuses to leave.
Later in the week she's in De Chima, watching from the rooftops. It gives her a good vantage point to look into the alleyways from above. The streets were quiet but it didn’t mean that something wouldn't happen; Laurel was prepared regardless.
The weekend is split between work and Heropa, where Laurel lives. It was the warmest of all the cities despite the time of year, but she still wore her vigilante clothes. Only a few people knew of her real identity and she wanted to keep it that way. She saves a woman from being stabbed, and rescues a kid from a group of older kids who were bullying him in the park. Laurel gives them a stern warning and makes sure that the kid is escorted back home to his distraught mom.
Exhausted, Laurel heads back to her shared apartment and sneaks inside, not wanting any of her roommates to see her dressed up.]
Justice League: Open to JL members
[Laurel set some time aside to catch up with the other members of the Justice League to report on what was going on in the cities. She's dressed in her vigilante gear (sans weapons) and heads to an agreed meeting point, a place where only the other members would know of. What would Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow think of her? Joining with another team made up of superheroes and people with powers from different universes. Then she remembered a time when Oliver didn't even want her to join his team at all, thinking that she couldn’t handle it.
Well, she proved him wrong.
There wasn't any ill will towards him now about it though. Laurel could understand where he was coming from, but it still stung. Given their history she thought that Oliver would trust her. He did in the end.]
Black Canary checking in.
[Yep. Still using the same name as home.]
Dinner with a friend: closed to Iris
[A few things had happened since the last time Laurel and Iris met up. The investigation they had been conducting was put on hold for tonight. Instead, they were going to have a nice, fancy dinner accompanied with some cocktails. Well, the virgin kind for Laurel.
She was going to use the evening to catch up with her friend, hoping to talk to her about how things were going with Barry, if they were even going at all. Laurel also wanted to do some gushing of her own and keep Iris in the loop about her and Major. Iris had pretty much given her the confidence boost she needed before the date, and Laurel would be forever grateful for that. She regrets not being able to have the time back home to hang out with Iris and get to know her, but at least they could do that here.]
This is on me by the way.
[Laurel says over the menu, offering Iris a warm smile.]
Don't even think about protesting.
Wildcard: ((ooc: You want another thing? Comment with your own prompt or let me know what you'd like and I'll make a starter :D))

Vigilantism - De Chima
Hey. Don't think I've seen you around here before.
no subject
Hey. [She lowers her voice to disguise it.] Probably because I'm not usually up on the roof. I tend to patrol the streets mainly.
no subject
Probably why we haven't bumped into each other. I'm the Protector. I work with RISE.
[A name that means less these days, but still the name that pays his bills.]
no subject
[Granted, Laurel has never worked with them but there was enough talk on the network. Until the Justice League was set up she's mostly worked by herself.]
I'm the Black Canary. I do things by myself.
[Was he aware of the Justice League? Maybe. He might already know that she's a part of it.]
no subject
I've found it helps to have backup. I'm actually on the trail of a meta criminal right now. Feel like helping out, or are you doing your own thing?

Floral Arrangements - sometime or other
He had a list, and a fresh paycheck in his pocket as he came in, eyes wide. "Wow. This place is awesome!" He stood just short of 6 feet tall, and was still growing, and wore a suit jacket and pants and shoes, all black, with a white button-up shirt unbuttoned on the top few buttons.
no subject
He's not someone she recognised but it didn't matter to Laurel. A customer was a customer.
"How can I help you today?"
no subject
This is how you do things, right?
no subject
Her boss encouraged her to offer deals.
"Do you know what colours they like?"
no subject
"Really? Cool! Uhm, no? Except one. One of them likes Red. That one I know. Yes." He nodded.
He smiled. "I was hoping something sweet for that one, something like... thank you-ish, for the second set, and then something just nice and friendlike for the third." He nodded. "Please.'

sorry about the delay!
dinner with a friend
[ she leans in, as if she's about to share a big secret - ] I don't make the friendship rules, I just enforce 'em. Which means either I pay half now, or our dessert's gonna be on me.
[ She's not going to budge on this either. If she can afford to feed a speedster on her two-job salary, she can sure as heck feed her and Laurel at this restaurant. Which may or may not also be somewhere she's wanted to try forever - and because Laurel's enjoying virgin cocktails, Iris is forgoing the alcohol too. Friendship is also about solidarity, and well? After living with Barry for so long, she doesn't miss the booze as much as she thought she would. ]

Okay, okay. You can pay for dessert. Plus two drinks. [ Just going to use her negotiating skills here. Like the good lawyer that she was. ] I think that's something I can agree on.
[ She tries for another smile, undecided about what to order. Everything looked so good. Laurel doesn't know if she wants a starter, but a small one couldn't hurt, right? ]
You know what you're gonna order yet?
no subject
[ Plus, in the spirit of honesty? It's nice to eat something yummy without wondering if the leftovers will be around later. Casa West-Allen's fridge feels like Schroedinger's fridge... is it full? Is it empty?? Iris just doesn't know. ]
I had my heart set on the ravioli. [ beat ] But I could be persuaded to part with a bite.
no subject
[ Her roommates were pretty good about not touching any of the food she buys. Besides, Laurel has either been dining out recently or dining in with Major at his house in Maurtia Falls. ]
I'm kind of tempted by the carbonara myself. Or maybe the lasagna. [This was hard.] I'll totally let you try what I order. Just a little bit though.
no subject
[ The easy way out? Sure! But also the more fun way, in her opinion. ]

➤ Justice League shenanigans
Scarlet Witch, present. [Well, if they're doing roll call.] What's up?
no subject

She's got mental notes of things she can relay to Laurel as well.]
no subject
[Laurel sighs heavily, knowing the damage they could inflict on the community.]
It's like no matter how many I take down, more seem to spring up. It's infuriating.
no subject
Worst kind of whack-a-mole. Do I even need to guess where has it the worst?

.flower power!.
After spending his morning at Dawn of the Delts, he figures he'll pop over to where she works to see how she's doing. Surprise visits are sort of a gift kinda thing? Right? No? Maybe?
Might as well try it, at least.
He slips into the shop, going unnoticed, before loitering behind some large displays so as to not draw attention to himself right away. It's cute to see how happy she is, how much she enjoys what she's doing. He likes to take those moments to just .. appreciate everything. And he does.
Before it gets too creepy and voyeurish for him, he reveals himself while her back's turned towards him.]
Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number. So ... call me, maybe?
:D
But with Major, things seemed to click into place. Slowly, and over time. She's careful not to rush anything, though the last month and a bit had been so good. Good enough for Laurel to gush over with her friend Iris. Laurel was happy.
Being surprised at work by a significant other counted as a gift in Laurel's book. Especially when she wasn't expecting to to see him until later on tonight. She had just finished off putting together a bouquet when she heard a familiar voice behind her. Laurel smiles to herself, not turning around just yet.
He's cute. And sweet.
When Laurel finally turns around to face Major, she gives him a playful smile. ]
You know, I'm not in the habit of giving just anyone my number but you seem okay. [She leans in to whisper, her smile still playful.]
Don't tell my boyfriend though. He could probably kick your ass.

[Laurel is going to drag this out for a little while longer because Major seems to be fine with playing along.]
He's a dork. Likes his movies and video games. Oh, and he references pop culture that sometimes escapes even me. [Which was actually true.] But he's also really beefy too? Smart. Kind. Funny.
If he were listening right now, I'd be worried about inflating his ego. So keep it between us, okay?
