[CLOSED]
WHO: Petyr Baelish and Haen Hithiel
WHERE: Maurtia Falls Town Square
WHEN: Early November (maybe November 1st?)
WHAT: Baelish proposes publicly.
WARNINGS: None
[ It was at the town square where Baelish was having his speech, a fairly decent gathering of the Maurtia Falls citizens were around -- mostly reporters, but there were a lot of teachers and parents out to listen because he was addressing the plans for the Endeavor Center -- what it would bring to their city, what it would bring to the youth in their city, and the job opportunities it would open up. ]
It was an idea that I cannot take full credit for on my own. With the help of my beloved Haen...
[ He gestures toward the redhead in the front of the crowd causing a few cameras to turn and take snapshots of her for a moment. With a warm smile, Petyr continues. ]
In fact, I'd like to call her up here. [ He waves Haen forward. ] Please give her a round of applause, ladies and gentlemen.
[ The crowd obeys with a generous smattering of claps for Haen's sake. They're polite, but Petyr knows that applause is sure to grow tremendously once he asks the question he had been planning to ask -- his hand reaching into his robe pocket just to tighten securely around the velvet box. ]

[ The comment earned a soft laugh from the crowd, and Petyr spares a glance over at Haen -- fond and affectionate. ]
I hope you all do not mind if I derail the topic for just a moment...
[ Gently taking Haen's hands within his own, he turns to face her. ]
Since I have met you, you've been such a fascination -- a unique mind to go with your unique beauty. You've been able to keep up with me... [ A smile rounds the edges of Petyr's lips. ] And to put up with me. In a world where we are free to chose who we wish to be with, not for what it would bring to our family line or how it would further our house's future, well -- you are my choice.
[ Lowering to his knee, he prostrated himself before her, removing the velvet box. Opening the top revealed an engagement ring of a double helix design, encrusted with colorful diamonds. ]
My lady...would you do me the honor of becoming my betrothed?

Yes. [ The word is quick, almost breathless, until she realizes that's hardly a verbose response to something so important and her smile is like a sunbeam. ]
Nothing would make me happier, Petyr-- so, very much yes.

In case you missed it, she said yes.
[ Reporters call Haen's name, trying to catch a candid glimpse of her for the front page of their papers. ]

It's true that I moved here by choice rather than by Porter assignment, but the truth is that... I have never felt more welcome anywhere than in Maurtia Falls, not even in the city I'm from. At home, I'm sad to say, most people care about themselves first and foremost... and sometimes only.
[ She doesn't use the word Tower, just because she doesn't want to derail their attention for any (most) who won't be familiar with her terminology. ]
What makes Maurtia Falls special is that rather than being heart-hardened by circumstance, it simply drives you to become better. I'm grateful that I can be part of that here, so... thank you to every one of you.

I have reservations for you and I tonight at the Mediterranean restaurant with the riverfront view. Something a little less public to celebrate this.
[ He opens the door for her, slipping inside as well. ]
I did not ask you solely for the publicity. You know that, right?
