Closed: Only need light when it's burning low
WHO: Obi-wan and Satine Kryze
WHERE: Heropa 012
WHEN: Back-dated to the morning of Nov. 6
WHAT: Reminiscing and the meeting of old...friends
WARNINGS: Forecast calls for possible talks of death and lots of sap
She shouldn't be nervous. Satine told herself as much, and yet she had been up for hours, following a rather sleepless night. It was only Obi-wan, a man she had known for years--a familiar and welcome face. She shouldn't be so anxious to see him face-to-face and yet here she was pacing.
It did, if she was honest, make some level of sense. Because it was Obi-wan. A man she had known, yes, and been in love with for years. A man whose arms she had died in following a newer confession of her feelings. She had her suspicions he knew--that he likely came from a time after the fall of Mandalore and her demise. Perhaps that's where the nerves stemmed from. Her death had left them with so many things unsaid, yet again, that she was unsure of exactly where they stood with one another now.
At any rate, she should probably stop trying to wear a path into the flooring. She sighs heavily, taking a seat in the common room, the front door just within view as she waited for the sound of a knock.

Though one thought made him pause, the sight of Satine’s face. Hearing her voice. There had been that had filled him with as much hope and warmth at knowing she was here. He has missed her so. Despite having moved on with his life, he had not forgotten the duchess he had protected as a young man and had secretly cared for over the years.
Her death had left a hole just as deep as Qui-Gon’s had. There were monumentous regrets as well. What could he have done to save her? She had suffered because of Maul’s desire to get revenge on him. Also, there were things he had never said.
It was these things he pondered again as he got ready in the morning, went to the Porter, and found her residence in Heropa. The Jedi bathed in morning light as his knock finally came.

"Good morning, Obi-wan." It was a simple greeting, one that safely guarded her anxieties. She allowed a small smile as she moved from the doorway to allow him to enter. Whatever pacing she had done before his arrival was hardly evident as she led him into her home, every movement one of the measured grace she had carried herself with back home. Her time as a duchess had taught her how to mask a great many things.
"I am...glad you were able to come see me." She hadn't taken into account how awkward things might be face to face, however. There was so much to say that she isn't sure where they should even begin.

For a moment he just stared, hardly believing she was there, right in front of him. But he soon remembered himself, a soft smile touching his face as he dipped his head in typical polite Jedi fashion.
“Good morning, Satine.”
His voice was soft, tender. And at her invitation he stepped inside, though he didn’t go far. Standing there a bit awkwardly as he tried to find the words to say.
“I... don’t think I could stay away if I tried.”
The moment he saw her reply, he knew he had to see her, as soon as he possibly could. And well, here he was.

"And I would hope you wouldn't have tried to stay away at all."
It's almost a teasing remark, but there's that serious undertone to it that cuts through any such mirth. She wouldn't have blamed him if he had needed time, but still, she had wanted to see him desperately enough that she had been the one to reach out first--to make herself known.
"Would you...like to take a seat?" It's said after a long pause, one where she struggled to once again find the words. Perhaps this would be easier once they both were no longer uncomfortably lingering in the entryway.

“Wild Gundarks couldn’t keep me, my dear.”
He would never try, nor would he allow anything to come between them now. Especially now. They were here, together, for a reason. And far be it from him to squander this opportunity that was granted to him.
Her suggestion was met with a nod, and Obi-Wan moved out of the foyer and into the nearest room where he could sit. Picking a spot and waiting for Satine to sit before sitting himself.

"I was...happy to see you here, Obi-wan. I know this is hardly an ideal situation but..." She breaks off, pausing in her speech again. After a moment, she reaches out to gently place her hand over one of his, a soft but sad smile tugging at her lips. "It is good to see you again and to have this...second chance."

“No matter if the situation was ideal or not, this is a chance I never hoped to have again,” he said softly. His blue eyes searching hers, and only looking down briefly when he felt her hand on his. An endearing smile lit up his face, the corners of his eyes crinkling just slightly to show the joy he felt. Subtle, as it would be for a Jedi, but there just the same. He than placed his other hand over hers.
“I can’t even describe how I felt when I saw you. It’s... as if a part of me came alive again.”
When Satine died, he had last a part of himself that day. Much like he had when he lost Qui-Gon, but in a different way. It was a part of him he never expected to get back. And being with her again breathed new life into him.
