Closed: Only need light when it's burning low

WHO: Obi-wan and Satine Kryze
WHERE: Heropa 012
WHEN: Back-dated to the morning of Nov. 6
WHAT: Reminiscing and the meeting of old...friends
WARNINGS: Forecast calls for possible talks of death and lots of sap

She shouldn't be nervous. Satine told herself as much, and yet she had been up for hours, following a rather sleepless night. It was only Obi-wan, a man she had known for years--a familiar and welcome face. She shouldn't be so anxious to see him face-to-face and yet here she was pacing.

It did, if she was honest, make some level of sense. Because it was Obi-wan. A man she had known, yes, and been in love with for years. A man whose arms she had died in following a newer confession of her feelings. She had her suspicions he knew--that he likely came from a time after the fall of Mandalore and her demise. Perhaps that's where the nerves stemmed from. Her death had left them with so many things unsaid, yet again, that she was unsure of exactly where they stood with one another now.

At any rate, she should probably stop trying to wear a path into the flooring. She sighs heavily, taking a seat in the common room, the front door just within view as she waited for the sound of a knock.

Obi-Wan was not able to sleep much himself for the second night in a row. Thus he spent much of it meditating. He had been bombarded with so much information. So much coming at him from both friendly and not so friendly faces. It had left him in a bit of turmoil. His talk with Luke at least had brought him some joy. And getting a late night drink with Archie had helped him relax a bit. Yet when left to his own thoughts, they plagued him.

Though one thought made him pause, the sight of Satine’s face. Hearing her voice. There had been that had filled him with as much hope and warmth at knowing she was here. He has missed her so. Despite having moved on with his life, he had not forgotten the duchess he had protected as a young man and had secretly cared for over the years.

Her death had left a hole just as deep as Qui-Gon’s had. There were monumentous regrets as well. What could he have done to save her? She had suffered because of Maul’s desire to get revenge on him. Also, there were things he had never said.

It was these things he pondered again as he got ready in the morning, went to the Porter, and found her residence in Heropa. The Jedi bathed in morning light as his knock finally came.

Obi-Wan would be lying if he said he wasn’t nervous himself. Having the chance to see someone he cared so deeply for, after they had died, was not exactly a normal experience. On his way to her residence he went over what he could say in his head over and over again. But when she opened the door, those things suddenly left him.

For a moment he just stared, hardly believing she was there, right in front of him. But he soon remembered himself, a soft smile touching his face as he dipped his head in typical polite Jedi fashion.

“Good morning, Satine.”

His voice was soft, tender. And at her invitation he stepped inside, though he didn’t go far. Standing there a bit awkwardly as he tried to find the words to say.

“I... don’t think I could stay away if I tried.”

The moment he saw her reply, he knew he had to see her, as soon as he possibly could. And well, here he was.

It was definitely a sobering thought. The only reason they were here, together like this, was because of a strange device that defied time and space. It wasn’t supposed to be possible, but it seemed that the Force has allowed it for one reason or another. Her words though rekindled the fond smile on his face.

“Wild Gundarks couldn’t keep me, my dear.”

He would never try, nor would he allow anything to come between them now. Especially now. They were here, together, for a reason. And far be it from him to squander this opportunity that was granted to him.

Her suggestion was met with a nod, and Obi-Wan moved out of the foyer and into the nearest room where he could sit. Picking a spot and waiting for Satine to sit before sitting himself.

Words didn’t often escape this Jedi Master who was known as a skilled negotiator. But now, in this moment, with her, nothing he thought to say seemed good enough. What does one say in a situation that’s supposed to be impossible? He could fight wars but was tongue tied when it came to this lady. Force help him. ... And it seems his plea was heard as Satine spoke first.

“No matter if the situation was ideal or not, this is a chance I never hoped to have again,” he said softly. His blue eyes searching hers, and only looking down briefly when he felt her hand on his. An endearing smile lit up his face, the corners of his eyes crinkling just slightly to show the joy he felt. Subtle, as it would be for a Jedi, but there just the same. He than placed his other hand over hers.

“I can’t even describe how I felt when I saw you. It’s... as if a part of me came alive again.”

When Satine died, he had last a part of himself that day. Much like he had when he lost Qui-Gon, but in a different way. It was a part of him he never expected to get back. And being with her again breathed new life into him.
