boys and girls of every age,
WHO: Eleven + various
WHERE: De Chima, any city
WHEN: First week of November
WHAT: Gettin' settled
WARNINGS: Minor spoilers for S2 of Stranger Things!
de chima
[ There's a girl sitting cross-legged in the grass. Normal enough—this is a public park, after all. Less normal: she's wearing a blindfold, and her nose is bleeding. It's unclear how long she's already been there like that, but she sits stock still for another minute, unmoving and not speaking. And then, suddenly: ]
Mike? Mike! Mike! [ She doesn't pull off the blindfold, but she's clearly started to cry behind it, and every time she repeats the name, it gets more hysterical. She's rocking back and forth and clutching her hands to her chest like she's just got the worst news of her life. So… just another day in De Chima, huh? ]
any porter city
[ She missed Halloween. Again.
It's not fair. She knows that going out and making herself noticeable is stupid and she shouldn't be acting stupid, but it's just not fair. Thirteen years and she's never gotten to dress up or go trick or treating, and she just missed Halloween twice, in two separate universes. It's like some big joke, but not one she thinks is funny.
Most of the businesses she's passed have already begun decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but many of the houses still have Halloween decorations up—fake spider webs and pumpkins with faces carved into them, cardboard tombstones in the yards. Eleven wonders if any of the people inside still have candy.
At first she's not going to act on her thoughts. It's only the thought of Hopper and how mad he'd be that actually spurs her on and makes her march up the front steps of the nearest house. Because good. She wants him to be mad. Let him find out about this! Let him try to take away her TV or her Eggos! Before she can change her mind, she reaches out and holds down the doorbell. ]

Heropa
Heading to the front door Daisy can hear Lucy hurrying to catch up and practically has her nose shoved into the door. Edging her back with her leg, Daisy looks out the window to see a young girl standing there.]
Stop.
[Daisy said as she opened the door, using her body to keep Lucy from running out the door. It took her a second, considering the last time she was here she had hardly any hair on her head. She might not have remembered her name if it hadn't been for how odd of a name it was.]
Hey.
[It's pretty clear Daisy was confused as to what she was doing here, but what was more concerning was that she was by herself and looked mad.]

Trick or treat.
[ So what if she's not in a costume and it's November? ]
no subject
[She was not prepared for this, she had brought some candy and set it out the night of Halloween since she had gone to a party.]
I think I still have some candy, do you want to...?
[Edging Lucy out of the way Daisy opened the door more if she wanted to come inside. She's not sure why she's trying to trick or treat now, but, Daisy very much doubted she'd have much luck at the other houses. With how pissed she had looked a moment go she figured something happened too.]

Heropa
Just a moment!
[ She calls to the front door and smoothes out the wrinkles on her jumpsuit, taking off her headphones (something, she has learned, is perceived as rude here. Not that she was getting anything other than static over the comm). ]
Can I help-?
[ She's met with a girl who can't be older than 14 sweeps. Small, with a head of short, curly hair. She's not someone she's seen at the center before, but- maybe she needs help all the same. ]
no subject
Trick or treat.

[ She isn't familiar with the earth holiday, even if she'd recieved a crash course of sorts with the kids she worked with (even helped supervise a halloween party at the home). But she doesn't have any extra candy with her.
Hm. What do earth kids like...? ]
You know, hold on a sec, I'll get something if you give me a minute.
[ She leaves the door, leaving it open as an open invitation for the girl to follow her if she wants. If she needs help... ]

Maurtia Falls
When the doorbell goes off, he's a little surprised. He doesn't get a lot of spontaneous visitors; generally, when people want to make contact with him (whether for business or a social occasion), they give him a call, or send a text message. It doesn't completely inspire suspicion, but he does call out before answering:]
Yeah? Who's that?
[You know, just in case it's someone he'd rather tell to fuck off instead of talk to or invite in.]
no subject
Trick or treat.
[ Who else would it be, not in costume, in November?? Jeez. ]
no subject
It does get him to open the door, though, and look down at her with an expression that's half-puzzled, half-amused.]

neither do the people who live with her. she's too used to being alone to consider that someone may have lost their keys.
instead, like the mature young adult she is, she immediately begins banging right back on the other side of the door for as long as the bell continues droning on. this was either going to scare the person off or begin a contest of wills which she was absolutely certain she would win. her entire existence was made of free time now, after all.]

[despite emanating from somewhere in one of the nearby trees, the voice manages to cut through the sounds of hysteria like a knife. Hiei doesn't need to be up close to know psychic training when he sees it - nor can he fail to be irritated by the way its clumsy handling has jarred him out of his nap.
he could reach out to her mind to leave the message, but prefers to make a more considerate (by his terms) attempt first. if the girl is that absorbed by her mental work then she'll either be insensible to outside influences or easy rattled out of the rapture. for his own apathetic sake he hoped for the latter.]

[There's a brief commotion, like the guy about to respond had been interrupted in the middle of something Very Important, before the door opens up and Foggy's looking down at—a kid. He blinks at her in surprise, before he sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.]
It's a little late for trick-or-treating, don't you think?

What he hasn't yet encountered - until now - is such a disturbance in the Force. Like someone reaching out and yanking, and then pulling back, it's enough to almost make his head pound with it.
He can't see, but he can tell this is a kid - maybe about the same age as Ezra when they first met him. Maybe a little younger. Not a youngling, by any means, but still just a kid. She - Kanan is pretty sure it's a she - is crying. So he sits, legs tucked under him, near her but not anything close to touching her physically. It doesn't take reaching out through the Force to tell she's in a lot of emotional pain right now. ]
Hey there. I get the feeling you're looking for someone.

Gone. [ It shouldn't have been a surprise, being unable to reach Mike in the dark place. She hadn't been able to last time, either. But this time was even worse. She hasn't been close to him for almost a year, but at least she's been able to see him, until now. ]

He's not sure what he expects, some gloating from their neighbor at having kriffed up their lives again, or Poe's roommate stopping by to check on him. It's neither. Bodhi doesn't expect it to be a young girl -- barely a teenager, by his guess. It's possible she could be looking for Jyn or Cassian -- she's not anyone he recognizes from the kids that go by the dojo, but that doesn't mean much.
Still. ]
Uh, hi. Can I help you-?

[ He might think it's a joke, but the girl looking up at him looks incredibly serious, bordering on angry, almost. She's not wearing a costume, and it's November, but she's clearly expecting him to give her some candy. Or something. ]

[ She's going to leave it at that, but then she hesitates. She's still mad at Hopper, but she doesn't want to disappoint him even more than she already has. ] But I have rules. Dinner first, then dessert.
no subject
Wow. That's a way more grown up rule than I woulda stuck to when I was at your age.
But cool, okay, you're the boss. Dinner, then dessert, it is. Whatcha in the mood for?

Yeah, those suck, but they can be good for you. [Some rules are, anyway.] But I know a place where you can eat dessert and dinner at the same time, though. [Bacon waffles count as dinner, right?] If you want, we can get out of here and I can take you there.
