I think I used to have a purpose
WHO: K-2SO and YOU!!
WHERE: All over the place
WHEN:Nov 1st - Nov-10th
WHAT: K-2SO has been Memory Wiped aka he doesn't remember much of anything right now, maybe say hi??
WARNINGS: angst probably
Waking up felt odd. Not that he should be feeling things? But he had also powered down entirely, wherever he was last. Now he's waking up in a charging station, and that's good. He doesn't know how he got here, though.
He doesn't actually know anything, it seems.
He looks down at his hands, in their default open state, and notes the levels of rust and aging. Okay, so he isn't new. But he doesn't remember beyond the basics- how to move, speak, take orders. He knows things inherent to a basic knowledge bank, 'that's a door, that's grass, those are animals,' but names not found in a dictionary elude him.
For example, he also doesn't remember his own designation. Somehow, he still remembers Imperial protocol, although he feels no compulsion to follow through with it.
Still, maybe it'll be best to try and find out more information, and who he takes orders from. Someone else is bound to know.
1. At home [Locked to roommates/castmates]
He walks into the largest central room, where it seemed like a gathering area for whomever lives here. His gait is slow, like every action requires such precision, and he carries himself with a sense of upright posture most have never seen him with. He looks to the human he sees there, slowly turning his head but otherwise lacking in all other characteristics.
"Hello. What is your designation, and do you know why I am here?"
This is what most people see, when they see a droid. A machine.
2A. Anywhere tbh (De Chima, Nonah, Heropa, Maurita falls)
Apparently he's free to go wherever he wants, so he does so. A shop, where he doesn't buy anything but sure touches everything not locked behind a glass case; a park where he can people watch, which is actually a lot more interesting than he thought it would be; a city street, where apparently the locals know more about him from the news and magazines than he knows about himself.
It seems a little like he's being told about another KX series unit instead, one that saved people during an attack by other giant robots, and one that taught students self-defense classes. He knows it isn't anyone other than him- there's no other KX series units here.
2B. Also anywhere!!! but now at night
It's dark out, but that isn't a concern with someone who can project a rather large field of light with his eyes. Not that he needs them on right now, since he's busy standing in the middle of the sidewalk, staring at the stars.
Maybe you know him. Maybe you've interacted with him before, or you're even close enough to be considered a friend of his, and you say hey!
When he turns to look, it's with a pause, as his photoreceptors look you over (lights and all, might be a little bit blinding there) and yeah. No recognition.
"Hello. I am Kay Tuesso. Do I know you?"
3. [DIY PROMPT!! MAKE SOMETHING UP!! Or lmk if you want a thread, and I can plot something with you. Or just assume there's a 7 foot robot walking around and interacting with things like he's never seen them before and go from there.]

He didn't land when he got to the house. Instead, he banging heavily and heartily on the door, hovering on Kaytoo above the doorstep.

This child chose not to go back, a good call, so the training was partly about tricking the system to make sure he could remain with the friend's family who was taking him in. But the fact that he was choosing to go out again into the world at all was a good result. Cassian would remain on call—well, always, really, but especially for the upcoming month.
For now, he was back in De Chima for the first time in almost a week. Often he couldn't relax until he was secure in his and Jyn's own room; but right now the prospect of further company was pleasant; so he dragged himself in and collapsed face-down (for us, showing your back is trust) on the couch, half-dozing until someone came back.
The sound of Kay's footfalls waking him gave Cassian his broadest and most unfeigned smile in days, even if it was mashed into the sofa cushions. He peeled himself off the upholstery to turn over and greet his friend.
…Whose introduction wiped the smile immediately from Cassian's face.
He knew Kay didn't joke. He knew he didn't lie. He knew Kay wouldn't do this to Cassian even if he was capable.
But for one of the few times in his life, Cassian resorted to the kind of fallacy others fell into all the time.
Not because he actually doubted reality. Because he so strongly did not want it.
He knew he wasn't dreaming. He just really fucking hoped.
"…That's not funny."

Said, with the sterile bluntness that was almost just like Kay, but there's something about the way he says it that lacks feeling, or any emotion at all. He's saying those exact words to convey his point, not because he's exasperated at Cassian for thinking he's joking, or to smartly clarify what he meant because of course Cassian should have already known that. He says it cleanly, clinically, and like a machine would.
Human memories are nowhere near as crystal clear as a droid's might be- a droid that has it's memory that is- but Cassian might be able to recall the familiarity with Kay having this sort of tone. When he was fresh and new to the Rebellion.

At Kay's House
He didn't sleep very well, though, and the sound of movement in the room instantly startled him awake. He rubbed at his face (further smudging the left over face paint and soot) and then looked at Kay when the droid spoke.
He did not smile. He assumed that Kay was messing with him - maybe to lighten his mood, or to point out the idiocy of his plan that had gone so wrong - but he was not smiling.
"Not exactly funny, buddy. You alright? You scared me for a while there."
no subject
"I don't think I intended to scare you." He also doesn't know, so. "But I also don't have any recorded data older than eight hours, thirty-two minutes and six seconds. If I had 'scared' you earlier than that, I have no recollection of it."
Nothing this human said answered his questions, though. Maybe he'll try a different line of questioning.
"Is my designation 'Buddy'?"

Quiet, most everyone was asleep still?
Last night had been a flurry of activity, after the impromptu movie marathon had been cut short. Sitting up straighter, he yawns, scrubbing a hand over his face as familiar footfalls sound Kay's approach.
It's possible he misheard the words, when they're spoken at last -- Bodhi was still without the coffee he'd come to rely on in the mornings to wake up proper. He blinks, confused and glancing up at the droid before his face breaks into a smile. It doesn't abate the worry entirely, but surely ... it was a prank.
Right?
"Oh, right. Is this some kind of Halloween prank? You missed it, that was just last night. Funny, Kay. Ha, you almost had me there."
no subject
It almost sounds like that could be a question "Kay" is actually asking, and not just the fact that it's the first thing Bodhi said that he didn't know about, and so that's what he latched onto first.

Nov 8, De Chima, evening
Usually there's nothing much interesting happening, but this time...he spotted a droid. An Imperial droid. Standing in the middle of the sidewalk, directly in his path. Krennic strode briskly to him, curious. What were an Imperial security droid doing here? Here being the general direction of his path but also the broader context of this world. Did the Porter had just ImPorted him, did he just arrived, and that he was confused? Krennic wanted to know. Also perhaps he could gain some useful information from the droid. Who knew, he might be from the future, like one of his roommates at the government housing.
When he approached it, the droid turned his photoreceptors towards him, and Krennic blinked a little at the blinding light, but quickly adjusted to it.
"Kay Tuesso. That's your designation, isn't it?" he told the droid, studying him. "No, you do not know me, but I am an Imperial officer. Where are you stationed? Not...here, but back in our world."
no subject
Still, if there's officers, it means he should probably work with them, right?
"I don't know where I was stationed if you don't mean on this planet. I was recently memory wiped of all data older than eight rotations, 18 hours, and twenty-three minutes ago."

A few days later
Hungry.
Very hungry.
Plus he really needed to get out of the house for at least a few minutes. Throwing himself into searching for Kay's back-up at least took his mind off things, but it also meant that he hadn't seen much of the sun or fresh air in a while. Other than when he went out rug shopping, and he was pretty sure that didn't count.
"Alright. I'm running low on fuel. Come on, Kay, let's hit the grocery store. We can stock up for everyone else, too."
no subject
He finds it unusual to be agreeing to do this. Grocery shopping was also a thing his type of droid did not do. But from what he's been learning about himself, about others, and about his own ability to make choices, it doesn't seem to matter that this isn't what he was meant to do. It's what he's doing now, because he wants to. He has never been grocery shopping before... but apparently he also has. He found in the pile of trash in his room at one point, a shopping list, with a collection of all of his roommates handwriting on it. He assumes this is how he knew what to get for everyone.
2B!

"Uh, yeah, you do. K2, what's going on?"

He glances at his watch, recently purchased thanks to some tips and calculates that if he heads back now he'll be able to grab a quick hot shower.
Eli turns down the street when he spots the familiar shape of an Imperial droid, and there is only one he knows of. Quickening his pace to catch up, Eli is certain this must be the same droid from before. The one who witnessed his singing shame. "Hey Kay!"

finding the backup
Whomever finds the back up...
It turns out it was under the bed. This whole time, the black box that was at least a foot long, with the word "backup" written on a post-it note stuck to it.]
no subject
It was finding the post-it that had fallen off the box that set off the scramble to see what it had originally gone with.
And that, at least, Cassian could do without a consultation. It was just a matter of finding the dust outline and trace residue. Spywork so classic they had a genre for it on this world.
Once found, he had to go over to the nearest wall, put his back against it, and let his shaking legs fold down to the floor under him, while one of the others ran to fetch Kay.]
