[after carefully sneaking out of bed, making as little fuss as he could getting dressed, Manabu left a note for Brendan ("going out early to help a friend, going to miss breakfast. scout's coming too"), scooped up his poochyena, and stepped out into the cool, pre-morning air.

right now he's finally finished getting the proper latitude and longitude Poe wanted (terrestrial coordinates aren't as easy as space ones, okay) aaand...

There. [he sighs a little, fidgeting his hold on the dog so he can rub his eye.]

And now we wait a bit.





[he looks up, trying to parse detail from the dark. but beyond the scattered stars the streetlights haven't already drowned out, not much yet.]

[Scout yips, noticing the flying carpet before Manabu does.]

Eh--oh! There he is. [Manabu can't wave back, but he does start walking off the front step to meet him partway; Scout wriggles excitedly in his arms the closer he gets, tail wagging.]

Hi, Poe! I--hey! [welp. Scout breaks free, using Manabu's chest as a springboard and leaping onto the carpet and climbing up to provide lots of sniffs and licks, as if Poe were someone he's known all along.]

Aa...that's Scout.

[Poe glided down toward them, and as soon as he opened his mouth to greet Manabu, suddenly there was a dog leaping onto the carpet and straight onto his chest and face. It knocks Poe backward, the carpet careening dangerously at the loss of concentration, but stabilizes out as Poe starts laughing with the dog on him.]

Hey! Hey, buddy, nice to meet you too! [He manages to get back up and hold Scout at arm's length, and then grins at him.]

Okay. Right. He's adorable. It's official.

[siriusly]

He already knows that...

[Manabu shakes his head, smiling despite himself. of course Scout soaks up the praise like a sponge -- as if he's not spoiled enough with it. the weird little dog's tail swishes happily while his legs stretch to try to bridge the distance Poe's set.

sigh. but not any annoyed sigh.]

C'mon Scout, take it easy. You're already the star.

[Poe grins at Manabu, still holding the dog out, and holding the carpet steady while he waits for his friend to get on it and sit down.]

He's fantastic. Should we take him up or should I put him back down?
