WHO: Nathan Drake & Elena Fisher
WHERE:IN THE RIGHT PLACE THIS TIMEFancy places
WHEN: end of October
WHAT: Date, fancy date
WARNINGS: Nothing really, will update as things progress
[ Coming up to the house, wow, those nerves were heavy, like his arms, knees weak, palms sweaty. Nate really hoped Han wasn't home to answer the door. He hoped the man was off with that princess of his who, in his opinion, could be a handful for Han after she'd been shown throwing a hot drink in some jerk's face on national television. Right now his hands were full so he couldn't fix his fancy as all heck outfit. A small box with a potted chicks and hen and a little yellow pot with a cactus occupied them, but it wasn't hard to hold in one hand and ring the doorbell with the other.
While he waits, heart beating hard and fast, he shifts his weight to one leg and rolls his ankle, head down to look at the shoes he chose with the suit. She'd accepted his invitation for a date night out, this was really happening. It was...different. She was different. Different from all the others. Different in the way that he wanted more with her.
What if this didn't work? What if he choked? What if he messed this up again? God, what did she see in him that she was giving him a second chance? Their future was so uncertain, thinking about it and remembering her covered in blood and unmoving, it made him antsy.
Nate was just about ready to set the box in front of the door and leave, let the apprehension and nerves win. ]

But here she is, all dressed up and no place to go until he gets here. Which is right about...now, as the doorbell rings.
She hops up, forces herself to take a long breath and smiles as she opens the door.]
Hey.
no subject
Hey. Wow. [ Now would be the perfect time to remember how to talk. The flutter in his chest is making that a little difficult. ] Uh, I brought you something... It isn't much...
[ The small box, about two hands wide, is extended to her. Suddenly, he feels sheepish, like she's not going to like it. He's not really one for rejection when things matters most. ]
no subject
Nate, you didn't have to get me anything.
[She accepts the box, though, because why wouldn't she? Her smile broadens once she sees what's inside.]
You remembered I like these? Thank you. You're sweet. [She leans in and plants a light kiss on his cheek.]
no subject
I thought maybe you wanted something from home. Add them to your windowsill here.
no subject
[Since she can't very well carry plants all nights. She finds a spot for them in the living room window for now, then returns to his side.]
Ready when you are, cowboy.
no subject
I was born ready.
[ His arm extends for her to take. ]
The restaurant isn't far. Good thing it's a nice night for a walk, huh?
no subject
But instead she's back beside him, taking his arm gladly.]
Walking is definitely better. I've seen what happens when you drive.
[Explosions, dives off cliffs, etc.]
no subject
[ He makes sure she's got her arm nicely tucked against his, giving her a look. ]
no subject
[She grins. Of course she does.]
So where are we going, anyway?
[She could take a guess based on the distance, but he's the one who picked it out.]
no subject
[ She'll see when they get there. ]

no subject
If that's what you want to do tonight then who I am to deny you?
no subject
[Because this is a first one, isn't it? A fresh start. Even though she already knows which way his dick curves.
True to his word, it's not a far walk, but she enjoys it for every step. It's nice to be able to enjoy time with Nate, no longer weighed down by the knowledge that she wanted something that he didn't.]
no subject
So then there's going to be a second date? You haven't even gotten through a meal with me yet.
[ They reach the entrance and he holds the door open for her, heading in to give his name for the reservation. It's low lit with candles on the tables, each tucked in a circular booth, the seats cushioned and leather. ]

Elena recognizes the restaurant by sight, though she's never eaten there before. It's lovely—romantic and definitely fancy as, he'd promised.]
Nice place. I'm impressed.
no subject
[ Nate waits until she slides in first on the one side, then eases in to his. A waiter shows up to offer some wine samples as soon as they're seated; since neither of them are driving, what's a drink or two? ]
So...
no subject
So, how are you coping with a non-criminal lifestyle here? Breaking out into sweats yet?
no subject
[ He's also ready to lose the job and find something else, at this point. ]
Any new stories?
no subject
[Elena grins and thinks about the various projects she's got going.]
There is one that could be pretty interesting...
[She goes into a bullets-point version of a lead she's got, related to gang activity in Maurtia Falls. It's no Lazarevic story, but it's got cachet, and it could do some good.]
no subject
Let me get this straight - you're getting involved with a gang. You realize that's bad, right? Bad and dangerous.
no subject
That's overstating it a little. Right now it's mainly interviewing witnesses, tracking crime reports, seeing if there's a pattern to this group or not. I'm not marching out trying to get an on-camera with the gang boss.
no subject
[ He takes a sip of his water and leans back against the plush back seating, a leg extending under the table. His ankle brushes hers and Nate gives her a nudge. ]
no subject
[She's still smiling, but she's keep a close eye on Nate as she does. After Shambhala, she gets why he'd be worried about her willingly getting close to danger, but she's not going to wrap herself in cotton. If he expects that, then this second try at their relationship is going to have a brand new problem.
Luckily, he seems over it, judging by the foot she feels nudging against hers. She curls her foot toward his, eyelids lowering as she rests her chin on her hand.]
Anyway, don't tell me you haven't been in danger since you got ported in. Not even once?
no subject
It's the glass at the museum you should be worrying over.
no subject
[The waiter swings by again and Elena takes the opportunity to order a glass of Riesling, rubbing her foot against Nate's ankle the entire time.]
