You don't know how you got here; you just know you want out.
WHO: Batman, Bruce Wayne and an all star cast (will be OTA threads, but if you want something in particular pm me)
WHERE: Heropa would be my guess
WHEN: All month
WHAT: There's a lot to adjust to, introspection to be done, sparring, explanations and a man who has never thought about being a father suddenly having way too much responsibility. It's going to be a rollercoaster.
WARNINGS: V...violence? That would be my guess. And brooding.
Threads to follow, including open to all!

It doesn't do much to answer his questions of whether or not Dick would inherit from him; whether he was the natural next in line if something were to happen to Bruce, or in fact, if he were the natural next in line if something were to happen to Batman. The idea of passing along that mantle didn't appeal to him at all, particularly since at the moment he was still struggling with the idea of picking it back up himself.
It could be dangerous. People would ask questions. Of course it was also not beyond the realms of possibility that he was just seen as an eccentric man of means, doting on a young man who he identified with far too much. At worst, people would pity him.
And maybe he does identify too much. The 'I was nine' is so jarring that he has to try hard to keep it from showing in his expression. He places the plates on the table to cover for it, though he doesn't in fact sit to eat. ]
You saw it.
[ Statement, not question, although he waits for...something, none the less. ]

[ He could have stopped it, if. If he'd known. If he'd trusted his gut. If he'd said something. If he'd been Robin then. He doesn't like to dwell on it. What happened happened. If he'd stopped it, if his parents were still alive... he wouldn't be Robin at all.
And he doesn't like to wonder whether he'd do anything differently, if he were given the chance.
So his voice is matter-of-fact. Not cold, but measured, as he relays the barest facts of the story. There's an unspoken offer to tell him, if he asks. But maybe it isn't the details that are important, for once. ]
After you took me in, and I found out who you were... I asked you for help. I wanted justice. And... I wanted to be like you.
