I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums
WHO: Lance and YOU
WHERE: DeChima and Mautia Falls mostly. One in Heropa.
WHEN: Month of September
WHAT: Catch-all--wandering, training, dates.
WARNINGS: None thus far. That may change though.
1. DeChima | Coffee's For Closers | Open
[Late afternoon in DeChima meant climbing temperatures as fall tried to settle in. As the nine-to-fives started to filter out of offices, with them came wilting business men shedding parts of their three-piece suits on their way home for the day. Lance numbered among them during the week, often with a suit jacket draped over his arm and a hand loosing the tie at his throat.
He never would have pegged himself as a law and order man, but paralegal work didn't pay too badly and it fave him a way to help people while the team was still working on finding a direction for Voltron. Right now though, he's going to slink into a downtown coffee shop for an afternoon pick-me-up and some sweet, sweet baked goods.]
2. Maurtia Falls | Lion-Bonding | Closed to Allura
[This all would have been easier to deal with if they had settled on a place for the team to move into together--he'd have to tell Keith to get a move on with that. As it was though, Blue was still acting strange. Lance is pretty sure it has something to do with her ability to sense bonds--and with Allura back from a point past them apparently switching up the team formation...
Lance can't blame Blue for wanting to come here. Even if the prospect of what it all meant had him down. He's pretty sure this business of him doing well with Red as definitely Not A Thing in the future, but he's not going to be one to call the princess a liar either.
And so he finds himself at Allura's place, Blue in tow.]
Uh...hey.
3. DeChima | Weekend Runs | Open
[The weekdays were for suits and closers and long hours. Weekends--weekends were for Lance and relaxation. The weather was still nice, fall just settling into the early mornings with a brisk crispness to the air that turned into mild or sweltering heat by mid-afternoon. It's those early mornings that found Lance out and about, running along the sidewalks or through the park--dressed in little more than running shorts, a tee and (if it was a particularly cool morning) a thin running jacket, Blue keeping pace at his side.
Old habits die hard--and the Garrison had definitely made routine runs a thing. One of the few exercises Lance complained about as his lean form was basically built to run. Good luck keeping up if you're one to try, by the way.]
4. Heropa | Ice Ice Baby | Open]
[If there was one thing that Heropa had an abundance off, outside of prime beach front property, it was lakes and ponds. Natural or man-made, you could have an easy time finding one. Which worked well for Lance when he was down visiting friends in the city. Particularly because it offered a prime training opportunity.
He was still trying to really get the hang of the ice powers he rolled in with. He knew enough to keep them from activating at inopportune moments, but not enough to truly say he was in control. And what better way to get that, than to try and freeze over a body of water in Florida temperatures. He often took to finding one out of the way and with less foot traffic, sitting at the water's edge. It was almost like a meditation--deep breaths and long pauses. Eventually he would reach out, fingers spread over the water lapping at the shore (or the edges if it was man-made)--and when he's lucky the water stills as fractals spread along its surface, thickening and deepening into decent blocks and sheets of ice.]
Hey...not bad.
Wildcard!
[Want something not here? Do we have something planned and need a starter for it? Hit me up on plurk at
likeredgold or drop a starter down below!]

WILD CARD | DATE NIGHT TONIGHT
Lance must be pulling one over on him. Which is infuriating! Why did he agree to this? He felt humiliated, hurt by the thought that maybe Lance wasn't going to show up. It settles in his stomach, his chest tightening in realization.
He likes him.
Oh quiznak he LIKES him. Allura was going to --
Oh quiznak what would Allura think?
Emotions were driving him crazy and he hates it. Things were easier when he was going on alone. ]
Damnit.
[ He resumes pacing. Hoping Lance would show up so he can get this over with. ]
GUNNA GO OUT, GET SOME FOOD.
It was not a date. Absolutely not.
Was it? Did Keith think it was?
How did he keep getting himself into these kinds of messes anyway? He really needs to start having a filter around people he had even a mild interest in.
He shouldn't be surprised to find Keith already on the curb--and pacing, when he finally comes strolling up the street. Of course.]
You're going to wear a hole in the pavement...
HAVE A FEW DRINKS, FORGET WE HAVE LIONS FOR A LITTLE BIT
You're late. [ He frowns, trying to distance himself from his own emotions. He wasn't excited (he was) and he wasn't looking forward to spending time with Lance (definitely was). He shifts his weight between his legs before he lets his arms drop to his sides, trying to relax. ]
So uh... where are we going to dinner?
[ This wasn't awkward? Nope. Not at all. Keith felt lost with this whole thing -- not sure what to say or do. He missed not thinking and just doing. Fighting was easier! ]

And sorry--Blue was being stubborn about staying behind. You know how the Lions are. [That and he spent up to an hour pacing his room second guessing this whole deal. In the end, it was Blue that nudged him out the door to get here even close to "on time".]
Uh...Well, it's a bit out of the way. Like...jump through a Porter out of the way. Heropa has the better restaurants anyway.
If that's cool?
Heropa
Yeah. That's great.
[ He doesn't say it with enough enthusiasm, and doesn't move much from where he's parked it on the bank. He feels bad about that after a split-second, though, and tries to put more into the reaction. ]
Can I shove my face in it yet?
no subject
[He turns away from the icy water, distracted by Hunk's comments. Oh--right, the heat would definitely be a problem for almost anyone else--oops.]
Sorry, man. Got caught up in it. Feel free. I should probably let it start melting back anyway.
no subject
You go first.
[ It's Lance's ice. He should test it first.
He's also less likely to fall through, right? So it's a win-win! ]
no subject
Dude, come on! This is awesome.
[And it definitely felt cooler out on the ice.]

With a deep breath to steel himself, he scoots closer to the edge of the dock and gingerly climbs down. He doesn't let go yet, though, slipping around the edge of the dock while he tries to get the hang of existing on ice. ]
I get why people usually do this with skates.
no subject
[Says the guys currently making sliding across ice look like a breeze. Must be an affinity thing--that or the lack of traction on his shoes was doing him some favors right now.]
I got you if you fall, buddy. Have some fun with it.

He braces himself before he compliments Lance, because... Famous Last Words. That's always a possibility. ]
It looks like you've got a really good handle of your powers, man. This does seem pretty solid.

[He is so proud. It's progress, and he can't complain about that. Maybe he could actually start thinking about how to use them consistently.]
Uh--try not to go to close to any of the edges though. It's probably thin there...
