Open! (Plus a closed thread for Archie)
WHO: Jonathan and you!
WHERE: All the cities!
WHEN: Daytime.
WHAT: Jonathan applying for jobs. Also, Jonathan cooking with Archie.
WARNINGS: None.
Open to all – Any city
Jonathan can be seen, binder in hand, in a nice, freshly ironed dress shirt, suit jacket, and black slacks. It had been entertaining playing the receptionist for a while, and he figured it would be a bit easier to get hired somewhere if he, at the very least, had at least one reference they could actually verify, but now he wanted a real job. One that paid better. And one that used more of his wide ranging talents.
The thing was, in his time with the invasion, which he'd just referred to as the 'Alliance' on his resume, he'd needed technological expertise far beyond what they had on either Earth, as well as skills in managing a company and manipulating the media. This gave him a wide range of skills, and so there were a wide range of jobs he was applying for in a wide range of cities. He figured if he got multiple offers, he'd just pick whichever one was either the most interesting or paid the most.
Of course, if anyone stopped him and wanted to chat, he'd be glad to take a break and talk for a minute, and if anyone receiving an application had any questions while he was still there, he'd be glad to answer them. After all, Jonathan was great at being friendly when he wanted to be, and he was always ready to advertise his skills.
Closed to Archie
Archie had healed, so it was time. They'd gotten in contact, set up a time and a date, and now Jonathan all Jonathan had to do was wait for Archie to arrive so they could get cooking. Literally. Apparently Archie thought there was some kind of problem with Jonathan having no idea how to make food for himself, although he had to admit, it did seem like it would be a useful skill, and it certainly would reduce the amount of time he had to wait in line. Besides, he liked Archie, and an excuse to hang out with him seemed like fun.

He doesn't mind. It's just amusing how often it seems to be happening. He'd let Jonathan in, of course, returned all his Pokémon (just in case they got weirded out by the lizard man) and was currently standing in the kitchen, grinning happily.
"Right. Where do we start?"
no subject
"Right! Uh...I don't know. Is there something you'd like to start with?"
Jonathan didn't really know what Archie had the ingredients for, or what would be more difficult and easy. And he didn't really want to just say to start with something basic, even though that really was what he needed.

Sure, there were foods he avoided when he was trying to eat healthy, but lately he'd been dipping further and further into just eating whatever. Aside from the risk of one day no longer having a skinny ass, there really wasn't anything to worry about.
no subject
"Do you know what that is?"
no subject
See? He knew things. Sort of.
no subject
Archie wonders vaguely if assuming Jonathan would like bugs is racist.
no subject
"Well...I like kale, and spinach...tomatoes, but that's technically a fruit. And I like chicken."
He also liked shrimp, but he felt like chicken would more easily go with more things.

"Right, first all ya gotta do is crack a couple eggs into a bowl," also said by getting one out and holding it out to Jonathan. "and mix 'em up together. Then we'll put the additional stuff in."
no subject
He was doing well at the 'ingredient selection' thing already. Clearly, this meant Jonathan was awesome.
"Got it," he said as he started following Archie's instructions. Grabbing an egg, he watched what Archie did before cracking it himself, copying what he saw.
Well, that was easy enough so far.
no subject
"Alright, now mix it up. I take it you know how to do that? Just get a fork and swirl it around until it's all yellow and bubbly."
no subject
"Well, I don't know about bubbly, but it's definitely looking yellow."

Look at Jon go. Like a giant green whisk.
"Go, man, go!"

no subject
Unnecessary, but he's enjoying. Sue him.
"Then throw in everything you want to eat with it!"
no subject
"Where do you keep things?"
no subject
"Tomatoes in the bottom with the spinach! Salt and pepper by the cooker!"
no subject
"So...uh...do I have to cut them up or something?"
no subject
"...Turnin' on the stove helps too."
no subject
There were knobs and settings, and while he could guess from the configuration which knob went with which burner, he had no idea what to turn it to.
no subject
"You with me?"

Archie seriously considers this. He would usually have it on high, but Jonathan...
"Medium. About 4."

Jonathan slowed down. The chopped up bits were still a bit larger than you'd normally have for an omelet, but at least he seemed less likely to cut himself.
Once it was all chopped, he said, "So I just dump it in now, right?"
no subject
"Then you gotta wait until it starts bubblin'."
no subject
"So what do I do when it starts bubbling?"

"Good job, bro! Only about five minutes then it's ready to eat!"
no subject
Of course, Jonathan would not have been likely to handle things as...relatively okay had Archie started with a more difficult recipe. Especially since he had to tell Jonathan how to turn the stove on.
no subject
He gets a plate out.
"Alright, taste test!"
no subject
"So are we both trying some of this or what?"
no subject
It doesn't look burned... maybe Jonathan is actually a good cook when he knows what to do??
no subject
"Here," he offered, hoping Archie would like it.
no subject
It's a little under seasoned and the veg could've been cut smaller, but it's still good.
"Great!"
no subject
"Well, that sounds promising for my first try," he says, before settling down and trying some. Mouth still partially full, Jonathan nodded and said, "Yeah, this isn't bad. Thanks!"
Sure, it wasn't as good as the stuff he got in restaurants, but considering it was literally their job to cook food for people, he kind of expected that.
"So I guess that means I've learned my first recipe."
