Looking For a Better Way [Closed]
WHO: Akira Kurusu, Archie Andrews, and Reggie Mantle
WHERE: Archie and Reggie's place!
WHEN: Aug 29th
WHAT: Akira is inundated by FOOTBALL CULTURE. Also like, American culture in general, probably
WARNINGS: Gratuitous Reggie, which means underaged drinking ;O
[The school year was rapidly approaching, and Akira still had no idea how you play American Football. Yeah, he could guess that you threw the ball sometimes, you caught it, he thinks sometimes you also kick it? And you definitely do a lot of running, but he didn't really know any of the rules and was bound to make himself look like a fool when he went to try-outs.
Clearly the best way to remedy this was to go watch The Game with some guys who clearly knew what they were doing. Whether that was true or not didn't actually matter, because Akira was already at the door, ringing the doorbell with his free hand, a large lunchbox in his other hand. He wasn't really sure if he's supposed to bring anything for this little shindig, but he didn't want to be rude! And he had plenty of curry anyway. Hopefully they liked spicy.
Whenever the door was answered, Akira gave them a grin, waving a little.]
Hey! I, uh, brought some curry?
[That was probably weird, but it was about all that he knew how to cook right now. Oh well. Too late now.]

Then he snaps his fingers. ]
Ahh, right, right... yeah, come on in. Game hasn't started yet, so you're just in time.
[ He moves away from the door enough so that Akira can step inside, and reaches to (perhaps rudely?? though not intentionally so) take the lunchbox. ]
Dude, is this takeout or did you make this?
no subject
The- [Yeah, he got it. That's fine.]
Oh, I made it! [He responded, kind of overtaken by Reggie a little, which was kind of normal as far as he could read the guy. Well, the lunchbox was out of his hands now.]
It's curry. I brought enough for all of us. [He doesn't think to even warn him that it is his extra-special curry, made with love, and the spiciest ingredients that he could find.]
no subject
Akira! Hey. [Turns out he'd lost track of time, as you do. He peers curiously at the lunchbox in Reggie's hands.] I've never had curry before.
[But he'll try literally anything once!! (Someone please save him.)]
no subject
Bro, that's insane. You've never had curry? Come over here and try this, then. [ He isn't even considering the spice factor tbh. Then, to Akira: ] So Archie said you might wanna go out for football, is that right?
[ He gives Akira a brief appraising look over, eyebrow arched slightly skeptically but also thoughtfully. ]
Or what's the deal?
no subject
Mh, yeah! I want to do the try outs...? [Help, he's not a sports boy(yet).]
Uh, Archie is helping me work out, so I said I'd try to get on the team. But I don't actually know how to play or anything yet.

[He makes a beeline for the cabinets to get bowls and utensils enough for the three of them, because now he is awfully curious and they ought to eat right at the start of the game before anything interesting happens that warrants excitable Football Yelling or anything.]
Reggie's the Team Captain on our team back home, so he can help! [He turns a smile on Reggie without a hint of shame. Rip] Right Reg?

[ Rude of Reggie to stop paying attention even before he's fully listened to the answer to a question he himself asked, but he's already got the remote in his hand and legs propped up on the table, ankle-over-ankle; assuming the position, so to speak, even if there's still a couple more minutes until the game starts.
But he looks over, then grins. ]
Yeah, that's right. I am. [ It's a slightly strained grin, to be fair. ] And a pretty damn good one, too. I bet I can whip just about anyone into shape, including a skinny guy like you-- I mean, you do already have the legs to probably be a decent kicker, at least.
[ At which point he gives Akira another lookover, then switches the TV on. ]
no subject
Well, I'm ready to work hard. I need to be in top physical form. [He didn't even think about saying that, whoops. What do you need that shape for, Akira.]
W-well I mean, I WANT to be. I feel a little out of place here, you know? [He motions at Archie and Reggie because well. They're actually younger than him but god you'd never know it.]
...Did you need some help with that, Archie?
