Kitty Cat
WHO: Poe Dameron and Bela Talbot
WHERE: Mautria Falls
WHEN: Vaguely around now
WHAT: Poe gets to meet a Cat
WARNINGS: Really stupid flirting probably. Okay, more than flirting. This definitely gets into rated r material for sexy times. So, you know, you've been warned.
Thanks to his Comm, Poe managed to make it to Herodotus Antiques without too much trouble - though it meant he was basically staring at his phone from the time he stepped out of the Porter until he reached the shop. He had thankfully managed to now get together a basic wardrobe, and was wearing something much less bright than the orange flight suit he had arrived in.

He steps up to the shop with curiosity, looking in the windows and glancing at the relics within. It definitely felt strange, to see things from a civilization literally thousands of years behind his own - and yet a lot of things somehow looked very familiar. He paused to look around outside, and then with a shrug decided to step in.
There was a juke box in one corner that looked both incredibly familiar and incredibly alien at the same time, and he couldn't help but muse at it, until he saw some movement out of the corner of his eye.

The jingling of the small bell above the front door alerts Bela to the presence of a customer as she comes out from the stock room to see who it was. Ah. The very man that she was looking forward to seeing. She makes her way over to greet Poe, offering him a warm smile.
"Hi. It's nice to meet to you in person, Poe." The camera did not do him justice but Bela keeps that thought to herself. "I'm glad you didn't get lost."
no subject
"No thanks to me," He says with a laugh, before wiggling his phone at her. "He at least has some idea of where we are. He told me where to go, and I went. So you can thank him for the prompt arrival, I think." The smile only grew wider.
"This your place?"
no subject
Bela easily matched his smile.
"Yeah. You're looking at the owner and manager of Herodotus Antiques." See that look? Bela is proud. "Did you want to take a look around?"
no subject
"This place is kind of amazing. Where is all this stuff from, anyway? Just Earth? Or do they bring objects over through the porter, too?
no subject
"Most of the stuff was already here when I opened up. They were in boxes so it took me a while to sort it all out. Anything else I source from other porter cities - maybe they're brought along by imPorts, I don't know for sure."
no subject
He followed - not close enough to be creepy, but close enough to prove that he didn't have a huge personal space bubble, and so that he could lean over he shoulder to look at things when she gestured to them. He let out a half snort chuckle and stepped past her to pick up an old antique doll.
"Man. Well some things don't change, do they. Just different outfits. Too bad I didn't really get to bring anything with me but my flight suit. Otherwise I could have helped out." He paused, setting the doll down, eyes widening when he saw a wood carving of an elephant. "Woah. What's this? I like its teeth."
no subject
"The gesture is appreciated regardless." Bela said with a smile, watching as he moved toward the carving. "An elephant. And those teeth are called tusks. There are two kinds of elephant: African and Asian. African elephants have much larger ears, as evident in this carving."
no subject
"Huh. I'm guessing - Africa and Asia are places?" He asked, turning over the elephant inquisitively. "They're so cute. The tusks look like they might hurt, but otherwise you could just carry one around in your pocket." He gazed at it happily.
"So do you have any old droids here, or anything? I saw the one back there --" He thumbed to the juke box, "But even that one seems like a really odd model."
no subject
His enthusiasm was kind of endearing though.
"Droids? No, I don't. I-" Bela stopped when she realised he was indicating to the juke box. Holding back a laugh she went over to the juke box and switched it on. "This isn't a droid or a robot or anything like that. It plays music. I can show you how it works if you like."
She hoped that Poe had music where he was from.

"It's pretty weird that I've never seen this planet from space, I'll admit. Even Yavin 4 I saw from space as a tiny kid. It's pretty bizarre to have to think about an entire planet from one small section of it." He gently puts the elephant back down, secretely wondering how huge they are, but he keeps the question to himself. He will look it up later, and then send Bela all the gifs of Elephants he can find. Much better plan. Thanks, Skeets.
"Oh!" He walked over with her and looked it over as the lights came on and flashed. He couldn't help but give her a grin. "Music, huh? Go on then. Let's hear what Earth music is like."
yes, you get a link to a song :3
Bela smiled, taking some time to select a piece of music to play. She hummed in thought and flipped through the records with a few press of the buttons before finally making a choice. She turned to face Poe again.
"Okay. How about this one?"
no subject
As it started, he listened to the man sort of speaking, and then gave a laugh as the music really began.
"I've never heard anything like it!" He replied, but he was already trying to figure out a way to shimmy to it.
no subject
Interested in seeing how he would react to the music, Bela hung back and watched him closely. She had an ear for the classics - be it music or films. Speaking of which, maybe Poe would enjoy a good film.
"The song is about fifty years old in my world. So, before my time." Bela added, smiling at his attempt to move to the song. "Just listen to the beat and try to dance with it."
no subject
Just generally.
"It sounds almost like it belongs in a Cantina somewhere, except it really doesn't. I don't know how to explain it."
He tried to shimmy a bit more, most of the dancing ending up going into his hips, but after a couple of steps he paused and grinned at her. "Think I would learn a lot faster with a demonstration."
no subject
She just didn't want to look like an idiot.
"Kind of figured that you would ask me for that." But in the interest of again seeing Poe's reaction, she'll play ball. "Alright then. Watch and learn, sweetie."
Bela replayed the song from the beginning and waited for the intro to finish before she started to 'twist', using both her arms and feet to get the movements just right. It involved some hip and waist movement, but she does it slowly enough for him to follow.
no subject
If he happened to be 'twisting' his way a little closer over to her, well, that was hardly his fault.
"How am I doing?"
no subject
Bela has been watching him quite closely for the past few minutes, clearly enjoying it too.
"Not bad. You got a nice hip movement going on." Oh yes. She knows how that sounds right now. "It's impressive."
She oh so subtly (maybe not really) closed that gap a little more, a smile playing at her lips.
no subject
It was an odd dance for it, but hey, he was open to learning new customs. And he thought he was getting the hang of it pretty fast.
"This would be a good song to play in the cockpit, when all you can really do is wiggle."
no subject
A fairly innocent sounding statement but completely open to interpretation. Poe was free to take from it what he wished.
She chose that moment to finally accept the invitation, moving in closer with surprising swiftness. Bela took his hands and placed them on her hips, settling her own hands at his waist.
Your move, Dameron.
no subject
His normal go-to was the hip hold, but Bela had somehow already beaten him to it - because faster than he realised, his hands were already there. He laughed, pulling her closer.
"I think I can get used to Earth dancing."
no subject
Bela smiled, needing to tilt her head slightly to look at Poe as they were practically nose to nose at this point. The song was almost over but she's still moving along to the music, a little more slowly now.
"What about people from Earth: could you get used to them?"
no subject
He wets his lips with a twinkle in his eye and offers a lopsided smile.
"Depends on whether or not I'm likely to get eaten alive. And whether or not that's a bad thing."
no subject
"Hm. I can see your point." Bela hummed, one hand now resting at his lower back. "Though if it helps I only bite when asked to."
Her smile widens considerably.
no subject
Just for the flourish.
"I think I'm going to enjoy Earth."
no subject
Speaking of flush, her face has a lot to answer for. Maybe Bela was just susceptible to Poe's obvious charms. Or maybe it was something else.
"I think Earth is going to enjoy you too."
