[OTA w/ Closed Prompts] It's a Whole New World Where We Live
WHO: Blue Oak and YOU!?
WHERE: Heropa Lake Park, and around De Chima
WHEN: BACKDATED to July 7th+8th, and OPEN after that through the 12th
WHAT: POKEMON BATTLES! NEW HOUSEMATES! And adapting to a world without Pokémon.
WARNINGS: silliness.
[July 7th, De Chima 007: CLOSED to Sabriel]
[So these were his new digs, huh? Blue grins- well, this wasn't half bad at all! A big yard for the Pokémon to play in, full kitchen and everything. He could get used to this little vacation.]
[He had naturally totally ignored the part where they told him he would have housemates, so he lets his team of Pokémon out of their balls to roam freely in the house and the yard- yes, even Gyarados, although the enormous dragon stays coiled up in the yard without a body of water. He was going to have to do something about that. Arcanine jumps up on the couch and curls up, and Pidgeot is perched on the fence around the yard, pecking about and looking for a good spot to roost. Exeggutor is examining the new plant life around it, and finding a new sunning spot in the yard.]
[...Have fun with your 5-for-one new housemates, Sabriel.]
[July 8th, Heropa Lake Park: CLOSED to Archie and May (one toplevel each?)]
[It was only his second day, and Blue already had two battles lined up! Maybe being stuck in this place wouldn't be so boring after all. And better yet, one of those battles (sorry, Archie) actually seemed like it would be a real challenge. A regional champ, huh.... He hadn't had a good opponent like that since the Alolan Champ had showed up at the Battle Tree- and even Red had been shocked, then.]
[Flying on Pidgeot back to Heropa (who needs transporters?), Blue followed a map he'd found to the park in question, circling and landing by the lakeside. He glances at the water- it was a nice, big lake, plenty of room for Water-types to battle- and he knew that would be Archie's specialty. Good; they could see which of theirs was the stronger. That Sharpedo had looked like it was in good shape. He had no idea what to expect of the Hoenn Champ, though; and that only excited him more.]
Jeez, where are those Slowpokes? I wanna battle, already!
[July 8th-12th, around De Chima suburbs and downtown: OPEN!]
[After a few days, the claims really seemed to be true- there were no wild Pokémon or native trainers in this region. Blue was a little restless with such a different environment- what was a trainer supposed to do without opponents? And besides that, people seemed to be frightened whenever he was out and about with his Pokémon, even docile ones like Arcanine and Pidgeot.]
[Luckily, he'd been given a job training the native creatures of this world instead, and although it wasn't training them for battle, so far it wasn't all that different from training a baby Pokémon. Arcanine even helped out, nudging the Growlithe-like dogs in the right direction sometimes.]
[Blue can be variously found walking with normal dogs and Arcanine in tow down the city streets; exploring the open, wooded green spaces with Exeggutor (a walking palm tree was a sight to see for these people, apparently); or watching Pidgeot soar overhead, hunting for fish and rodents and scouting the area for anything of interest to them.]

U KNOW
he raises his hand, inclining his head in greeting.]
Yo.
I DO
[He digs into his bag, pulling his Pokédex out-- holding it in front of Mightyena, he hums aloud.] Dark-type, huh? That makes two. Thought you were a Water-type trainer? [Well, that was the impression he got- but he assumed that was just from Sharpedo and the whole 'Aqua' thing.]
no subject
[flannery's grandpa probably hated young archie for that.]
All the ones I have are... personal choices. I got more water types at home! You ain't gonna see my Wailord until we get access to our PCs here, mate.
[archie's wailord is more of a communal aqua wailord, nor is it used for battling, but it's a wailord nonetheless.]
no subject
Anyway, whatever, that just makes it more interesting. Since I'm such a gracious guy, I'll let you pick format- one on one? You should know... My specialty is doubles, but I don't know if you're ready for that.
[He rests a hand in his bag, tapping the Pokéballs lined up inside. Water, Dark.... Probably Poison too, considering what he'd seen so far. What would be a good pick? Maybe something more interesting--] One round is enough for me to determine your strength, anyway.
no subject
[doubles? archie's expression crimps.]
Singles for me. Too old for doubles, the excitement might make my heart explode. ...An' mine aren't trained for 'em.
no subject
Pick your Pokémon, then! I'm ready any time.
[He tosses the ball up and down in his hand, before tossing it casually towards the lake- it bursts open to let out an enormous shape underwater, the slithering form rising up from the water with a splashing roar as Gyarados acquainted itself with new surroundings.]
no subject
Hey, Gyarados! Ain't you a sight for sore eyes, huh? Alright, I'll give ya a pal to play with.
[said as he tosses sharpedo's ball over the lake. the shark materialises and immediately makes a couple of excited grunts, seeing another water type.]
no subject
[Gyarados greets Sharpedo with equal curiosity- he was a friendly fellow, although he knows that if he's been sent out, it's time to battle. No sense getting too friendly before it's time to pummel the crap out of each other.]
[Blue takes a few steps back on the lake shore, creating more of an arena-like sense of distance, and flips his shades up into his hair.] Alright, Gyarados! Let's show this guy why we're Champs- Dragon Dance!
[Gyarados roars and rises out of the lake, slithering through the air to build power as its body begins to glow with an ominous aura.]
no subject
[he grabs his mega-anchor (which he'd actually put back together for this because he's fucking extra and cackles madly as sharpedo mega-evolves.]
Waterfall! Before it gets too high! [he calls out, before the shark explodes into its new form. sharpedo roars, diving into the lake to get the speed necessary to fling itself upwards and into gyarados.]

July 7
You have unusual taste in pets.

[Blue, who had been busying himself with planting a berry patch in the backyard (with help from the sentient palm tree), stumbles up to his feet at the voice from behind him.]
[Eyes narrowed, he looks pretty defensive.] ...And who the heck're you supposed to be?
no subject
[Sabriel smiles brightly.]
Everyone chips in for groceries and Anatoly's been doing most of the housework.
no subject
[Blue stares, trying to process all this information- police, leash ordinances, housework...] What!?
[Pause] Whaddayou mean, 'leash ordinance'? That's what Pokéballs are for. [Clearly, that was the most important part of all this information.]
no subject
Then that will probably be enough.
no subject
Let me guess, you've never heard of Pokémon either, huhn? [Blue asks, looking a little annoyed; but Archie had warned him...] They're all trained, so you don't got anything to worry about. They don't attack people.
[He pauses, casts a sideeye at the gigantic, ferocious-looking dragon coiled up in the yard.] ...'cept him, maybe, but he's real nice usually!
no subject
As long as you understand that 'he doesn't do that normally' isn't an excuse if he does bite someone.
no subject
[Blue blows a puff of air and waves his hand dismissively.] If he does, they had it comin'. But don't worry, my Pokémon are well-trained!
[Okay, she'd given him a proper name and all, so he supposes he ought to do the same.] ...'m Blue. Blue Oak, and if you don't know who I am then I guess this is that ...not from a place with Pokémon thing I've heard about. [Although he clearly looks skeptical of it, still.]

I HAVE ARRIVED
flying high above, tropius' large form casts a shadow on blue as may waves down to get his attention. ]
Heeeeeeey! Sorry I'm late!
IN STYLE
[Blue has seen Tropius before, sure, but he's never seen one actually flying before... He stares a little, raising an eyebrow and flicking his shades up to look at her.] You must be the Hoenn Champ, huh! [He calls up, giving a little salute. She looked to be about his age when he'd become the Champ- figured, he supposed.]
[He'd already healed his Pokémon up from his battle with Archie, and his team was in prime shape now that they were warmed up. He tightened his fists in excitement- this would hopefully be the kind of exciting challenge he looked for in a battle, these days.]
[ooc; BEFORE I FORGET could you do Blue's permissions real quick so I know what Type he sees her as, TY!]
no subject
That's me! So, are you ready?
OOPS wrote this tag hours ago never pressed send
[Well, whatever! He shrugs to himself, and draws a Pokéball out of his pack, tossing it up in the air and catching it in hand.] Heh! You kidding? I was born ready!
[...It sounded cool to him, okay. He gestures to the ball in his hand with a cocky grin.] I'm a nice guy, so I'll pick first! [He throws the ball forward, Pidgeot soaring out with a pitched cry before landing on the grass in front of them.]

[ she has no such background on blue's battling style - only that he has a cool-looking arcanine in his roster. but in her mind, that will just make the challenge all the more interesting.
not wanting to make things too easy or difficult for her, she sends out her delcatty to start. as it goes on, the battle is fierce - she hasn't had an opponent like this since her battle with steven... but that's not to say she can't handle it. ]

[He knew she had a Blaziken that could Mega Evolve, and that had been where he really had focused his pre-battle planning. As a Fire/Fighting-type, he knew it would be at a great type disadvantage against Gyarados, even with Mega Evolution, and it had been an extremely close battle. Revealing the Alola region's specialty Z-Powers at the critical moment, he had almost managed to take Blaziken out with Hydro Vortex, but with all the Speed Boosts and the power of Blaziken's attacks, it just managed to beat Gyarados out. A very powerful Pokémon, and a shrewd trainer- this was what he liked to see when challenged by an up-and-comer.]
Jeez, I lost after all that!? [He scoffs, recalling Gyarados. He might be complaining, but he was grinning- that battle really got his blood pumping.] And here I thought the Hoenn region was a buncha slumps. You're not half-bad, I guess.
[He reaches into his bag for his wallet. A won battle was a won battle.] It's smart to teach a Normal-type a variety of special moves like that. If you went to the Alola region, you could switch various Z-Crystals and TM moves onto that one Pokémon to keep your opponent guessing when they try to research you. [His grin cracks wider.] And if you end up at the Battle Tree, I'll be ready for you!
no subject
after running up to blazkien to give him a thank-you hug, she returns him to his poke ball. ]
No way! I might not have been born in Hoenn, but the people there taught me everything I know. [ and she bounds up to blue, sticking out her hand - first to take the money, but then in a handshake offer. ] You have us a great battle, though!
[ once they part, she looks a little confused as she listens to him speak. her eyes dart between looking at him and his wrist, where his z-ring is. ]
Z-Crystals... is that what you used to do that super-powerful move? It wasn't anything like Mega Evolution...
no subject
Oh yeah? What region are you from? [He hands over the money, then takes the shake.]
[He holds the Z-Ring up for her to see- set inside the space in the bracelet was a shining crystal, blue in color with a swirl. Set behind it was a large marble-like Keystone like her own. On the side were a series of other crystals- red, green, and another blue one] Yeah, that's right. In the Alola region, these crystals can be found all over the islands, given out by trial leaders. They're related to the Mega Stones found in other regions, I think. [He glances to her Mega Ring.] Where'd you get that? Not the Tower of Mastery...?
