july catch-all (open)!
WHO: Veronica Lodge and You. (OTA)
WHERE: All over the place.
WHEN: Throughout July.
WHAT: Catch-all log.
WARNINGS: Probably mentions of murder and violence. Will edit this when needed!
A. BOOM CLAP.
[ With all the many twists and turns in her life, Veronica decided self defense classes would be a perfect idea. Then, she would never need to depend on anyone to 'rescue' her and could take care of herself. Usually, when she entered a gym-like setting, she went straight for yoga or pilates but this time she marched over to one of the beginner self defense classes. How hard could it really be? ]
B. LIKE TWO MAGNETS.
[ When nothing else made sense in her life, shopping always loomed in front of Veronica like a security blanket. A little retail therapy helped any situation. But looking for what exactly? Veronica can be found looking at clothing, shoes, accessories and handbags. She can also be found looking through books, scuba gear and a punching bag. Offering plenty of questions as to what the best ones/types are. Following it all up with a manicure, pedicure and getting her hair done. Of course, offering suggestions to those around her on what would look best. ]
C. FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY.
[ Cutting loose is very important and Veronica really knows how to have a good time. She thrives on it and enjoys others around her having a good time as well.
The good times consist of plenty of dancing, rounds of karaoke, board game challenges and even murder mysteries. She might even be talked into a few rounds of laser tag. ]
D. WILDCARD.
[ catch veronica exploring around. throw whatever scenarios my way and if anyone wants to discuss or wants a starter, catch me at
snowflakecrowns.
a few possibilities - beach like activities (sunbathing, scuba diving, trying to surf, swimming), out to dinner, seeing films, grocery shopping. ]

Distressed jeans draped over an arm, Jean can't help but glance over to Veronica, trying to see just what she's getting or, at the very least, what she seems to have her eye on. You know, for inspiration and everything. But it's a particular glittery top that catches Jean's attention and, after looking at the price tag for it, makes a bit of a face. Yeah, definitely not in her prince range by a long shot. ]
Some of this stuff is so expensive.
no subject
Grabbing for a little black dress (a girl could never have too many), Veronica inspected it carefully. The scooped back would be a change but she wanted to have something a little daring.
Looking over at the sound of a voice, Veronica nodded with a grim look on her face. ]
I know. Back home, I never had to worry. But now you just have to get a little creative. [ Rustling through the racks of clothing, she snatched up a top similar to the one Jean had inspected but far cheaper. Also, a more flattering shape to her figure. ] You have to just look through some of the markdown racks here and other brands. You can find something similar to what you want but maybe not exactly. Pair it with the right accessories and heels and no one will ever know, though.
B!!
What do you think? [ It's hard to tell, given that she hasn't tried it on, but she's biting on her lower lip thoughtfully. ] Cute or... best left for another time?
no subject
This would look great with it. A perfect date night outfit. [ Her lips curled up. ] Or just a night on the town. A necklace would complete it or a choker if you're into that trend. [ Veronica never understood it and felt the trend originated more from guys fantasies than anything girls came up with. But whatever made someone happy. ] If you want to be really daring, lace up thigh high boots would be a showstopper.
no subject
I didn't even think about the boots... but it would be fun to surprise my boyfriend with. [ She sets the jeans on her arms, intent on carrying it with her to the register. ] What're you planning on getting for yourself, if you're okay with telling me?
no subject
No one ever won at anything by playing at the rules. Sometimes, a person had to make their own. ]
Just call me the cupid of fashion. [ With a grin, she walked over to one of the racks where she had been eyeing a deep maroon colored dress. She held it up for Iris to give her opinion on. ] What do you think? I've really loved maroon and mauve lately.
no subject
I love it. You really can't go wrong with that color, let alone the style.
[ She beams, ] I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that you worked in fashion back home. Or that if you didn't, you really should.
no subject
Back home, I unofficially worked in fashion - trying to help all of those around me. [ So many fashion victims, so little time. ] What about you? What was your life back home?
no subject
[ While Central City was a fairly big place, CCPN had been one of the best - and the journalism community wasn't exactly huge to begin with. The staff treated each other (mostly) like family. ]
Now, it's all about floral arrangements. [ She shrugs, ] At least the work's pretty.
no subject
Was there not any journalism jobs here? [ She gave a shake of her head. ] I apparently got a job being an assistant event coordinator to the party bus experience. A party of a life.
no subject
[ Iris laughs, not just at the government's lack of taste on her end but also at the choice they'd given this young woman. A party bus. ]
Ohhh my god. We're talking the ones with the dance floors inside, right? And the club-style lighting?
no subject
Their loss. Maybe you could start up something of your own? Post it through the Network? I think you could even do it anonymously if you wanted.
[ No matter what, Veronica always found a way around the established laws. With a laugh, she nodded her head. ]
Yes! I can't believe anyone still uses them. Didn't they go out of style years ago? But I guess not here. We should both be popular come wedding season.
no subject
[ And earn herself a massive following, she suspects, just from existing. ]
I thought they did too, but this world's history is all different. Who knows? Maybe we could work together and offer them a sweet discount: rent a party bus, get a wedding bouquet half-off.
d) at the beach
In a little while she'll venture down to the shore and take a dip in the sea, but she's quite happy where she is right now and probably will be for some time.]
no subject
Gathering up her things from the car, Veronica searched out where to set herself up. The beach hadn't filled up too much yet but Veronica decided to walk over to where someone had already stretched out. ]
That's an adorable bathing suit. [ She used in way of a greeting, looking down at the girl with a smile. ] Do you mind if I put my towel down here? [ While she waited for her to respond, she pushed her sunglasses up onto her head to look friendlier. ] Veronica Lodge, by the way.
no subject
She glanced up when Veronica spoke, definitely not sleepy now. ] Thank you. I only got it a few days ago. [ Laurel smiled and moved her sunglasses away from her face. ] Laurel Lance. And no, I don't mind. Plenty of beach for everyone.
It's nice to meet you, Veronica.
no subject
The ocean would earn her attention shortly but not yet.
Adjusting her black one piece with scooped out sides, she sat down carefully, kicking off her sandals to place beside her tote bag. ]
Nice to meet you too, Laurel. [ Her eyes looked over at her a moment. ] You wouldn't happen to know how to surf would you?
no subject
Your bathing suit is cute too. [So were the sandals. Yeah, Veronica was stylish.]
Surf? No, I don't really know how to do it. But I can learn I guess? It's not something I have thought about doing. At least not recently.
no subject
Looking over at Laurel, she flashed a smile. ]
Thank you. I've always believed every moment is one for a fashion expression. [ Clearly, she took fashion very seriously. ]
I just so happen to know how to scuba dive and surf if you ever want to learn or try it out. I love scuba diving and it's been so long since I've been. The waters here might be really amazing to explore. [ One day, she wanted to swim with sharks but doubted anyone would actually go with her. ]
no subject
I wouldn't say no to a new experience or a chance to do something I've never tried before. [Swimming with sharks might take a lot of persuasion though.] Scuba diving sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe I'd go for that.
[It was something for Laurel to think about.]
Have you been in Heropa for long?
no subject
It's really not too hard to get a hang of. You just have to learn to control the breathing. After that, you're just about good to go. And to remember to not descend or ascend too quickly.
[ Air bubbles were very dangerous. ]
Not at all! I'm still really new and trying to get a handle on things. Florida is really different. The humidity has been the worst part so far. What about you?
no subject
[ In case Veronica thought she was being frivolous. ]
Oh, wow. I thought you might've been here a while. Me? It has been over a year now - thirteen months to be exact. And I live in Heropa too.
B
She hasn't exactly had the best month so far and may be a little quieter today than she would normally, but she's doing a good job of not showing her concerns and playing tour guide (of the best shopping areas at least) for Veronica quite dutifully. This day out doing something Karen really enjoys, and with such beautiful company as well, may have become a little more about hopefully cheering herself up than it was initially intended.
In any case, their amazing urban excursion has barely begun! There's plenty of time to worry about whatever later. For now, there are clothes to focus on! Including this gorgeous, little jade green dress Karen is inspecting herself in at the nearest mirror.]
You know, I've actually met the designer of this one. I could... probably introduce you sometime, if you want.
no subject
Walking around the place with Karen, she noticed the girl seemed a little off but she refrained from commenting on it for the time being. They were still getting to know each other and figured she would open up to her eventually. Veronica tended to be the type of person people felt comfortable exposing their deepest darkest secrets to. Something she used to take advantage of during her ice queen days.
Gazing at Karen for a moment, she walked closer, setting down a pair of heels for her to try on with it. ]
I would love that. I always enjoy meeting designers and seeing their process.
[ Since they were alone and out of sight, Veronica didn't bother going into the actual changing room to slip out of her current dress and into the little black one she decided to see how it looked. ] Mind zipping me up?
no subject
[She's also a space alien, but Karen doesn't mention that quite yet. Just slips on the shoes and gives an approving hum for Veronica's selection, before glancing over at the question.]
Of course.
[More than happy to oblige, Karen steps over behind her and begins zipping up the dress, carefully gathering her hair aside once she gets near to the top. Her fingertips as they brush the back of Veronica's neck are noticeably cool to the touch, but they quickly pull away. Instead, she rests a hand on either of Ronnie's hips and stares at their reflection over her shoulder thoughtfully.]
Hmm. It looks amazing on you, obviously, but I'm wondering... if it could stand to... be an inch or two shorter.
[One of her hands moves down to Veronica's thigh, fingertip resting on the hemline of the dress, and when she slides her finger back up an inch or so, the dress somehow actually grows shorter with the movement.]
What do you think?
no subject
She smiled at the gentleness Karen exercised in zipping up the dress, her eyes drifting to watch the other girl's movements in the mirror. Much easier than trying to twist her neck around. The coolness of the touch barely registered at the moment, luckily for Karen because Veronica felt too focused on deciding what the dress looked like.
Shorter? She supposed they could find a tailor to - the train of thought stopped right there because of her hitch in breathing and the sudden shortness of the dress. Unbelievable. ]
Well, isn't that handy. Is that your ability? One of them? [ Her body twisted back and forth, inspecting the dress. After a moment, she turned to run her hand down Karen's dress to 'smooth it'. ] The color is perfect on you.
no subject
[Karen certainly doesn't mind the compliment OR the personal attention, and she catches Veronica's eyes and lets a moment of silence settle in over them. Not long enough to turn uncomfortable, mind you, but long enough for their closeness and the almost teasing smile on her face to be noticed certainly.
Then she looks away and, with a casual motion of her fingers, makes a small belt hanging off to the side fly into her outstretched hand.]
And I can also do this, by the way. [She inspects the belt, then actually decides against it anyway and sets it aside.] Making clothes move however I... like, adjusting them on the fly, even swapping one outfit for a completely... different one in a second. I'm practically a fairy godmother now.
I even have similar restrictions. Meaning the dress should change back in a few hours at most.
no subject
If only she knew how to make that happen.
Nodding her head as if she understood, she did smile at the 'fairy godmother quip'. ]
Does that mean you're going to make sure I'm the bell of the ball? [ A slightly wider smile filled his face. ]
What about lingerie? Have you ever tried that? [ Clearly, the important thing here. ]
no subject
If she picks up on Veronica's discomfort though, she doesn't point it out. Just smirks even more at the questions.]
Do you want me to... show you?
no subject
Gazing at Karen, she nodded her head. A burst of excitement racing over her at the possibility. ]
Yes, show me. Please.
no subject
And just as the moment stretches a little too long, she affects a very obviously fake scandalized expression.]
Wow. If that's what you're after, shouldn't you at least buy me dinner first?
no subject
So, what you're saying here is that it's a possibility? [ An interesting development but she never felt too opposed to certain possibilities appearing before her. ]
no subject
[Because Karen is nothing if not an intentionally mysterious little shit, so she leaves it to Veronica to try to figure out how serious she was about that.]
no subject
You feel confident that I will want to find out in the first place?
no subject
Are you telling me you aren't at least a little curious now?
D - Film first meeting?
In the theater, she'd realizing that sitting around in a dark room that doesn't belong to you isn't different enough from sitting in a dark room that does. There is a point of interest, though... A couple rows down, there's a dark-haired girl that Laurie's never seen before with a patented glow-in-the-dark imPort 'tattoo'. If everything else is going to be a bust, Laurie can at least fulfill a social need by saying hello.
After the movie, when people are filing out, Laurie catches up to the other girl and falls in step beside her. Totally not invasive or creepy, right? ]
Hi, um... Sorry if this is weird, but I noticed your tattoo in the theater. Are you new? Or, like, newish?
I'm Laurie.
[ Handshake? She holds her hand out for one, at least. ]
so cute.
Always look agreeable and charming to get others talking. Look in charge but still saveable all at the same time. People couldn't resist if they felt they could be right there with someone.
For the time being, though, she decided to see a film, having zero qualms about seeing one on her own. It gave her a little time to decompress and not have to be 'on'. When the film ended, she gathered up her purse and headed out, only pausing in her trek at the sound of a voice.
Her eyes looked over and she offered a faint smile. ]
Veronica Lodge and I am brand new. [ She took the girl's hand to shake, a firm grip but not too much. Again, she learned more than a few things from her dad. ] Nice to meet you Laurie. Take it you've been here a lot longer? [ A pause. ] Did they claim you have abilities too?
no subject
That makes her falter a bit, and she realizes (not for the first time) that growing up a mutant has made her wary of lines of questioning like this, even here. It can't hurt here, though, right? If she comes from a world without superpowers at all, Laurie will just sounds crazy at worst. ]
Oh, no, I... They didn't really have to claim anything. I had powers before I came here.
Actually, it's sort of weird to think about world where there are no super-powered people at all. It's kind of a thing where I'm from.
no subject
There were odd things going on around her, of course, and the whole mess of what Reggie made happen but still yet she wanted to cling onto none of it being actually real.
If it happened to be real it would shatter yet another piece of her foundation. ]
Where I'm from, people are happy if they are able to climb a hanging rope to make it to the top without falling. [ With a short laugh, she motioned forward with her hand. ] Would you care to go and get some ice cream with me?
no subject
[ There's probably somewhere nearby, up the road. There's probably five somewheres. This is peak ice cream season. She doesn't worry too much about where they're going, specifically, and she tries to assume they'll get there organically as she starts moving forward again. ]
You know... I don't know if I can climb a hanging rope, so your world might have the one-up on me there.
no subject
[ Even without knowing each other, Veronica sensed the reluctance to talk about the abilities part of things, which actually interested her far more than it should have. What happened to make her not want to talk about things? ]
It's torture is what it is and all the relay races they make us do. [ With a shake of her head, she started off in the direction where she remembered seeing an ice cream shop. A little place in the literal shape of an ice cream cone. She found it quaint. ]
What was your high school like?
no subject
[ So, anyway. ]
They started a squad-based training system after a little while. I guess that really drove home the Superhero Mutant School aspect. So, instead of, like, ropes and relays races, it was challenges against other teams of students, or Danger Room scenarios, or other exercises.
no subject
My high schools had lockdowns before but for - other reasons. [ Once for a gun related thing and another for an escaped convict.
One thing did perk her interest, though. ]
Does that mean you know self defense and stuff like that?
no subject
Oh, yeah. We did hand-to-hand self defense classes in addition to all the powers training stuff. I was never, like, the best at it, but I passed, so... [ Shrug. ]
no subject
[ With so many unknown threats and after what she endured in Riverdale, she never wanted to feel helpless. She needed to be able to take care of herself.
They arrived at the ice cream shop, shaped just like a soft serve of ice cream, which completely charmed her. ]
Any idea on what you want? There are so many flavors!
no subject
[ She's hasn't been paying full attention to their surroundings. That certainly is an ice cream parlor shaped like what it sells. Laurie can gladly skip over power complexity in favor of dessert. ]
Hmm. Maybe something classic but rarely-visited.
Pistashio? Ooh, or mint chocolate chip.
I'm feeling green, apparently.
@archie (songwrite)
Slipping into a mauve colored dress, she decided to leave her heels off for the time being. The pearl necklace rested there on the nightstand but she looked past in favor of grabbing for some earrings to put on.
With everything set, she waited for Archie, one hand resting on her hip. ]
