:re cafe
[ This is one of the few places in which Krul frequents almost daily, if not every couple of days. It's not for the coffee or the pastries or to make idle chit chat with any of the inhabitants of the coffee shop stopping by to get their caffeine fix. It's for that little area secluded deep in the back that is marked for special customers and not exactly known to be public knowledge. Yes, the back where blood and flesh and everything else considered unholy is served to those who have a more... special diet as opposed to everything that humans feed on. For Krul? It's blood and it's been a day or two now since she's had any for herself and she is not one to indulge in synthetic or artificial blood. She absolutely refuses.
So, it's with a glass of freshly poured blood in hand and a small dish that has a few of those blood sugar cubes set on them that she sits there at one of the tables, feet just barely touching the ground as she pops a cube into her mouth and slowly crunches on it while she stirs her blood with a straw. Just because she's a vampire doesn't mean she's messy with her drinking habits. ]
the hotel castile
[ Now here is some place that she's been meaning to visit ever since she spoke to March and learned of the hotel that he owned and operated. The fact that he had such drinks available to those who were seen as a little on the pale side of the population, well, how could she not come and take a look at such a fine place? It's a shame the lady of the hotel was no longer here, Krul always one to be rather curious if even a little wary over other vampires but, still, how fun it would have been to meet another vampire who wasn't a teenage boy that she was responsible for and she swears must be going through vampire puberty.
So, Krul can be found wandering the hotel grounds. Perhaps taking a look at the various decor that is strung about the hotel lobby or even wandering along one of the many hallways with fingers gently stroking along the walls as she goes. Maybe if she's lucky she might find a snack here, it's been so very long since she's drank from a warm body after all. ]
the blood bank
[ At first she had found this to be absolutely ridiculous to be given to her in terms of "employment" within this place. Really... a vampire of all things to be working at a blood bank? Either someone had a twisted sense of humor or was willing to give her a bit of a break in terms of feeding herself whenever she felt the thirst to be a little too much for her to ignore. As it stands, she has not stolen any blood from the blood bank and is still employed there out of her own will. There's not really much to it in terms of how it all goes anyway and with not much else to do here in this place, she might as well find something to occupy her time for one who hardly ever sleeps.
If you've come to donate some of your blood, you'll find Krul sitting there at the receptionist desk wearing a long, white lab coat which... may have a few stains of red on it here and there. Or maybe you're not here to donate your blood and rather... need something to drink? Krul can help you with that, too. Here to pick up some blood for whatever sort of seedy thing you got going on? Well, right this way to the freezers, please. Just don't touch anything. ]
stargazing ( closed to kaneki )
[ After her little conversation with Kaneki regarding stargazing with a telescope, Krul sent a follow-up message to the ghoul in regards to when to meet during a night when the sky was mostly clear. She's looked to the stars before, back home especially, but never through something like a telescope, though she's quite aware of what they are and what they do. She finds the random invite to do such a thing... strange but not unwelcoming. It's simply that, well, she's not exactly asked to do such things, let alone invited anywhere and so for Kaneki to ask her to do such a thing is... well, it's something. In fact, the last time she recalls even bothering to look up to the stars was probably some time long ago with her brother in a field of tall grass and daisies and the sky nothing more than a navy soup with twinkling lights strung throughout it...
But that was a long time ago and something she's not about to dwell on as she makes her way to the park during the later hours of the night. This seemed to be one of the better spots for this stargazing to take place, being away from tall buildings and wires overhead that could obstruct ones view from the shining stars high in the sky.
Fingers brushing along the chainlink ropes of one of the nearby swings, she wanders her way towards the middle of the park and stops there once she spots Kaneki, coming to stand near him and his telescope with a water bottle held in one hand. Which, that's right, is filled with blood and not water. ]
Is this spot alright for this?
WILDCARD?
( want to run into krul somewhere else? you can probably find her at her residence with yuu and mika [if you have reason to be there], around heropa especially at night, or a particular clothing shop that's often stocked with vintage and gothic clothing. )

Wildcard
Still, with the talk of clones lately, he had to wonder...
Then, hearing footsteps behind him, Jonathan turned, peering into the darkness. It probably wasn't the best idea to be out this late at night, he considered, especially since his powers weren't as big and flashy as some of the other imports, but he figured he could handle himself well enough, if it was needed. First he'd have to determine if it was.

It's the slow click and clack of her heels against the sidewalk that gives warning to anyone of her presence. Though, with not being in a particularly hungry mood for the moment, humans especially are rather safe for the time being. Mind you, it's not as though she ever goes on a rampage for blood, she's not an animal after all.
But when she happens upon this particular person, she can't help but glance to him with those crimson red eyes of her, wondering just why he seems to be so... cautious? Is that what he's being with her coming down the sidewalk like this? Well, she can't blame him, it is rather later after all.
"My, not even going to call out and see who's there?"
no subject
He looked a little confused by her question, though. "Why would I do that? I can see who's there."
And that seemed like a more reliable method of determining who was there than asking. It wasn't as if anyone would feel obligated to give a full and complete answer if their intentions were in any way nefarious.
no subject
But this one... this one doesn't seem to be a... problem. At least, not yet.
"My, so direct, aren't we?" There's a laugh that slips from her lips as she gently brushes a few strands of pink hair over her shoulder. "It's rather late, isn't it? You might run into something or someone that could be more threatening than me."
Of course, she's far more threatening than she leads on since, well, isn't it simply better to come off as a harmless, cute little girl rather than a couple thousand years old vampire? How else would anyone ever really talk to her?
no subject
His eyes seemed to shift then, suddenly, the pupil becoming slit and the iris, now gold, expanding to fill the rest of his eyes, before his eyes went back to normal. The truth was, though, he wasn't lying. He could hold his own in a fight, and the fact that he had acidic blood could prove dangerous to any would be attackers.
"I have the feeling I'll be able to handle myself just fine."
no subject
"Well that's good to hear," she hums a little and steps a bit closer to him, though by no means with the intention to lunge at or attack him. "I would hate to have to go out of my way to help you after all."
Not that she actually would in all honesty. Krul is simply the type who... unless it benefits her somehow? She has no interest in getting involved in others and their matters and that includes playing hero.
no subject
"And why would you think you needed to help me?"
Not only was he not in any real danger, the idea that a tiny woman would need to rush in and save a six foot tall man, lizard person or not, seemed bizarre.
no subject
"It's rather late, isn't it? Things that go bump in the night could snatch away even the tallest of men without so much as a shoe left behind to show they were there."
There's a shrug she gives before she stops in front of him, staring to him rather curiously then.
"But you're not exactly a man, are you? Just as I'm not exactly what you see before you."
no subject
Because that was a valid question. And that description was apt, considering how easily a UFO could snatch someone, and height certainly would not be a determining factor in the functionality of a tractor beam.
"I'm not, no. I'm a lizard person...did the porter gave you a disguise, too?"
There seemed to be a running theme with the non-humans he ran into being given the ability to turn into humans, after all. Although, he did notice her canines were a little sharper, and her eyes could be natural, now that he thought of it. The ears, too, didn't look like human ears. It was likely her species simply resembled humans. It wouldn't be the first time a species was cosmetically similar.
"Or is this your natural appearance?"
hotel castile;
Or is it merely pulsating with the music coming from a nearby room with an ornate 64 on the outside? How mysterious!
She won't have much time to ponder. That door swings open and March steps into the hall, all three piece suit and smile, music drifting out behind him.]
I'd hoped that was you. [He knocks on the floor twice with his cane.] Gave me a call you were about in the bar, you see. Were the drinks to your liking?
[they could get her a snack because HOSPITALITY IS IMPORTANT]
no subject
They were. You've no idea how much I appreciate the lack of artificial blood in such a place.
[ Why anyone or anything would even consider such a thing to ingest (never mind willingly at that) is beyond her and it's places such as this and a certain ghoul's cafe that she feels thankful for in a place where others just don't seem to understand the natural way of life for some... creatures.
By the way, a snack is always more than appreciated with her.
It's with a tilt of her head and a slow blink of crimson eyes that she stares past March into the room for a moment before her attention falls back onto him. ]
Do you keep livestock around? Pets?
[ And she's not talking about the furry kind. ]
no subject
I have in the past. [You know how film noir dames have legs for days? March has a smile for miles.] I do know that the couple down the hall are on the run. Their last two payments bounced. I've let them stay and did a little research.
[March jerks his head, walks along with every invitation sent her way to walk aside him, his door mysteriously shutting by itself.]
They owe several people several pretty pennies.
[Tsk tsk, for shame if anything happened to them.]
no subject
Still, he's not human and is free to do whatever he wants here in this hotel of his and she follows alongside him when he silently invites her to, listening to his tale of the unlucky couple on the run. My, humans certainly did find themselves in hot water more often than not, didn't they? Such a pity. ]
My, such a gentleman to allow them to stay without paying their dues. [ She smiles to herself, eyes fixed forward. ] I wonder what it is they should do to show their thanks for such hospitality you've shown them.
no subject
Quite generous. [His voice is quiet and agreeing, rather conspiratorial to anyone who might see them and pick up the hush hush tone. Of course he wouldn't be bothered by anyone who did. This is his castle and Krul, now, chosen to walk alongside and about it with the same sense of freedom. There isn't much he demands anyone to keep in check.] What would you consider a good price? I'm a bit at a loss. They've been calling for food on the hotel's dime, too.
[He cringes, tsking.]
Perhaps they think I'm an idiot.
[Snack material.]
no subject
Haven't they heard the saying to never bite the hand that feeds you? [ A smile. ] Perhaps an eye for an eye is something they'll understand a little better.
[ Literally speaking, of course. ]
no subject
[He stops in front of one door, head tilted. Normal noises come from inside it. Someone is clearly in the shower, and the radio plays at an acceptable volume. At least they have that bit of decency in them, though arguably it's to draw no attention to themselves.]
Do you prefer the male or the female?
[Going in for the kill, anyway; she's the only one here who can benefit from snacktime in a literal sense.]
no subject
I enjoy the way the females scream even when the pleasure of being fed on kicks in. [ Somehow so innocently she smiles to March then. ] So I'll take her. Though it doesn't matter much in the end so long as they're drained to the point of death when the taste of their blood is the sweetest.
[ She sighs through that smile at the thought. It's been too, too long since she's fed directly from the source. ]
Shall we have some fun then?
no subject
We shall. She's all yours, my dear.
[His cane bounces up close to his chest while his other hand withdraws a skeletal key, clicking open the lock without hesitation and without looking away from Krul at all. Not until he turns it anyway, because then he's slamming it open and pulling the blade from inside his cane. Confused vulgarity from the man on the bed is met with a pleased laugh and, abruptly, that sharp bit of metal going straight through his neck.]
no subject
Under his arm he also has the telescope, kept inside a proper box to carry it. it has been a while he used it, but Kaneki knows it's in perfect condition and hopes Krul will enjoy the night.
when she approaches, he smiles at her and nods ] I think it is. I'll set the telescope.
[ as Kaneki prepares everything, he looks back at her ] I brought some astronomy books along, though I don't know if it matters so much. [ since he remember what most of these books say ]
no subject
She stands there and watches as Kaneki goes about setting up the telescope, having never really had much experience with these... devices herself though even with her five senses being greatly enhanced with being a vampire and all, the stars are still so very far away from her and so she's a little curious to see how they might look through the lens of the telescope.
The park is quiet, for the most part, the rustling of leaves in the trees when a gentle breeze slips by or crickets playing their little songs off in the grass surrounding them really the only sort of sound within their immediate surroundings. It's peaceful and quiet and it has Krul staring off around them for a moment before she looks back to the telescope that Kaneki sets up, a curious tilt of her head at the mention of astronomy books. ]
Because there will be no constellations to identify?
no subject
Along with the telescope, Kaneki also sets a towel for both of them to sit. This way it won't be tiring and they can enjoy the night too, without the sounds of the city bothering them too much (or the people). ]
There are, many. In fact, you can see them even without a telescope even- [ kaneki looks up, searching for a star. When he does, kaneki points up ] That one, the brightest star. It's called the Pole star, and it's part of a constellation called "Ursa Minor".
no subject
It's only after she glances up to the sky that she decides to move a little closer to the ghoul and, carefully, drops her bottle down to the towel, shining red eyes looking up once more to the sky. ]
Ursa Minor. [ She repeats the word, eyes slowly blinking before she looks back to Kaneki. He seems... to know much about this, more than even she does and she's been around for so much longer than this ghoul here. ] Do you name any constellations you find yourself? Even if it's not documented somewhere officially?
[ She means... for fun, clearly. ]
no subject
All stars we see here already have names, all constellations. [ to find new ones they«'d need a bigger telescope. much bigger
Kaneki sits down, looking up at the sky ] Humans always looked up at the stars, as if hoping to find something that would tell them the meaning of everything.
no subject
And when they found little to nothing, they decided to look to everything around them and turn it inside out.
[ Experiments to other creatures, animals, even other humans. Brushing her hair aside some, she looks to Kaneki, her skin so soft and pale in the darkness around them. ]
Is this why you look to the stars? In hopes to find some sort of meaning for yourself?
no subject
I don't care to find that. I already know my meaning. [ kaneki smiles, because he certainly does. he knows his role and knows the things he has to do and for whom ] I just like it. It's vast and it shows us how small we really are. Just a tiny spec in the middle of the universe.
It's humbling.
no subject
And what is your meaning that you've found for yourself?
[ Is such a thing too personal to ask? Perhaps. Though Krul is never one to simply shy away from asking things, let alone twisting the knife in nice and deep in all the right ways she knows how to make a person squirm.
But... that's not something she's doing with Kaneki or has ever really done to him maliciously. ]
no subject
And that's good enough. [ it is. Sure, he has no reason to stay alive, he hasn't found out that just yet, but he has no reason to die while doing it either. And for now that balance is plentiful ]
no subject
She pauses to look towards the sky then, wondering how someone like Kaneki can still hold humans in such high regards despite everything they've done to each other and those different from them. Perhaps she'll be forever jaded by their taking her brother from her... along with every other foolish thing they've done in which they've tried to lay the blame on something else. ]
You almost sound too good for any world. [ She mutters before she looks back to the ghoul. ] Too good to be around the likes of me.
no subject
Honestly, it's not because Kaneki holds humans in higher regard. Maybe at first, when he still saw himself a human, but it eventually became just "something Kaneki is expected to do". Kaneki doesn't really care about people, if he is being honest, even with his constant "positive vision of humans" - he cares about HIS people, but not others.
Everything he does is because others expect him to do that. There is expectation that he is violent towards ghouls and peaceful towards humans; to save someone in need is based on what people expect of him rather than something that he /has/ to do. Even his role as King, a lot of times he does things because that's what a king does rather than something he feels like he must do. Kaneki doesn't have higher reason full of morale and kindness, his reason is a bit selfish and a bit hypocrite too: he does things because he wants to be loved, and does things under the ideal "if i do this, I will be loved". Even if it's a bad thing, sometimes. ]
and you aren't worse than me. No matter how you look at yourself, I like you. And I'm very glad I've met you, Krul.
no subject
So it's the notion that Kaneki likes her... that he likes to be around her and is glad to have met her that causes the pink-haired vampire to glance away from him for a moment, unable to meet his gaze.
When was the last time anyone ever said anything like that aside from her brother? ]
Aren't you going to show me the stars?
[ She finally says then, strands of pink hair falling in front of her face as if to hide in a manner of speaking before she reaches for her bottle and slowly undoes the cap, feeling that she needs a drink (of blood). ]
no subject
That's the Ursa Minor - you'll see four bright stars forming sort of like a square, and then three that make sort of a tail - at the end of the tail you have a very bright star, the North Star. [ he mentioned that one before ]
There are more stars to help shape the bear, but these seven ones are the most important. [ kaneki will offer Krul the telescope and the book after, so she can identify the constellation ]
The North Star is actually made of three different stars orbiting each other - but it's hard to tell with simple telescopes.
no subject
To hear Kaneki speak so... fondly of the stars and the various constellations... it's strange and something she's never really come across before; she's not all that sure what to make of it but it's a little endearing. Maybe. ]
Three different stars?
[ There's a gentle pop that comes from pulling the bottle away from her lips, a bit of blood covering her lower one before she glances up to the sky to try and locate said North Star. ]
Do you have one of those things that some humans have in their rooms?
[ She looks to Kaneki knowingly before she lifts a hand and, finger pointed upwards, spins it around a little to try and describe a mobile of sorts. ]
With the planets and sun?
no subject
At the question, kaneki smiles and shakes his head ] A solar system model. No, I don't. Never even made one.
- you can actually see the planets with a telescope. And Mars is very easy to spot too. [ kaneki looks up, trying to find that bright orange spot and when he does, he points at it ] Mars, the red planet.
no subject
However, her gaze follows his own when he looks to the sky in search of Mars and, when located, fingers gently wrap themselves around the telescope provided and pull it towards her face with the intention of peeking through the lens to spot the planet that's been pointed out. ]
Would you ever go there were it possible to travel to?
[ She asks this rather casually, still looking through the telescope before she pulls back and offers it to Kaneki to use if he wants, even if she's sure that he's probably seen it enough times on his own. ]
no subject
[ kaneki thinks for a second ] Ah- normal people want to go there because it's unknown. Which is ironic because they are afraid of what they don't know, and yet they are still attracted to it. To see something that no one else dreamed of seeing.
Maybe I was once like that, but- there is still too much to do on Earth now and in the future. [ so mars doesn't matter ] I can't escape that by going to another world.
And you? Are you interested on seeing the stars from up close?
Castile
A fine piece, don't you agree? I must say, this establishment's taste in decor continues to be simply impeccable.
no subject
There's a smile that softly tugs at the corners of her lips at his compliments regarding the hotel. ]
I find it's not just the decor that is rather impressive about this place but also the hospitality it gives to those of like minds.
[ After all, where else can she find someone... living to snack on around here? ]
no subject
I quite agree. I have been visiting this hotel since it opened, and I have often found it a fine place for meeting those with... interesting perspectives. However, I cannot say I have seen you here before, m'lady. Permit me to introduce myself.
[He gives her a little bow, hand across his waist.]
I am Count Dooku.
no subject
A Count. [ It's not a question but more an observation, a title she hasn't personally encountered much. ] There are only Kings and Queens where I am from. [ A pause, that smile growing a little to show a fang. ] And I can assure you I am no King.
[ But a Queen? Yes. ]
Krul Tepes. [ She says then. ] Third progenitor of the vampire race and Queen of Japan.
no subject
[The Count lowers his head deeply, a sign of further respect than he actually feels. Creatures like vampires and ghouls- leeches that feed upon the blood of humans like him- are potentially useful to him, but are also inherently distasteful to the Count's eyes.]
I understand Japan is quite an important nation on this planet. You were its ruler, in your own world?
no subject
Yes, I was. The humans simply couldn't seem to take care of themselves, let alone the planet.
[ She doesn't even sound surprised by such a thing and never fails to be unimpressed with anyone who tries to make excused for their tomfoolery and selfish ways. ]
And yourself?
no subject
[A strong hand was needed to create order and prevent the fools from destroying themselves. Dooku can relate.]
I have the honour to be ruler of the planet Serenno through my ancestral title, as well as the elected Head of State for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
[As well as being a Lord of the Sith, but that's a position he doesn't really advertise.]
no subject
My, such a title to have. With one like that, I'm sure you've had your fair share of treachery and attempts to de-throne you from your place.
[ Brushing a few strands of pink hair over a shoulder, she blinks slowly. ]
Quite annoying, isn't it?
no subject
I'm afraid I have. There are many enemies who have sought to destroy me, or to take away what is rightfully mine. A few of them are even still alive.
[Not for lack of trying on the Count's part, though. One day the Jedi will be wiped out for good...]
It is a continuing nuisance. But those who would wield power must always be prepared to defend it, as I'm sure you know all too well.
