[it's a nice day, as it is wont to be in heropa. archie's finished his work for the day; working through vet stuff (he's trying to learn how to advise on dog bone injuries in a way that isn't just "go to the other guys". he's gotta earn that money. then swimming lessons in the afternoon! gotta get money!

he does what he always does what he comes home needing to relax; he releases sharpedo into the pool out back and hops on, swimming over to lay his arms across its back. it doesn't mind, the big shark's age is starting to show and it's just as happy floating and doing nothing as it is battling.

honestly, with no other trainers to battle much the shark is making a habit out of sunning itself and archie is making a habit of hanging off it.]

[After his first day of part-time 'volunteering', which he's treating more as something to do and not something he cares about because weak stupid dumb and very useless animals, he needs stress relief.]

[For all the glaring at Archie - or trying to murdernate him with his eyes-, Niko has noted that the giant shark is alert, and his hand's ready to grab a 'ball and send out on of his pokemon, if things get worse.] What? [Heropa 001... Yea, he's about to open his mouth to retort when the number sinks in and he glances behind him at his house, then to Archie, then to Archie's house, then back to his house.] I live next door to you!? No way!

[said calmer, which pretty much just shows how angry he is. he gets up off sharpedo, knowing that the bad vibes in the air will get to the pokémon. just as he slides off it, swimming back, the shark snaps forward at niko. not that it can get him while confined to the pool, but you know.]

[he backs up, pulling himself up onto the tiled edge of the pool, letting off a low whistle when sharpedo snaps.]

Bwahaha! Grunt, [you keep that nickname until you act like a trainer!] he ain't gone for someone like that since I first caught him as a Carvanha. You just got the bad vibes!

[deciding he doesn't want to see if sharpedo would go again, he recalls the massive shark.]

How's your team doin'? Lose again to anyone yet?

[Instead of replying, he smirks, even with the twitching. That's the way you wanna play it? Fine.

Oi! He is a trainer and you need to get your nose out of his affairs. He'll wave a hand in a 'Aw, whatever' manner, only relaxing once the shark's gone. That was unnerving, and in his mind, just one more mark against Archie.]

Hmph. Haven't come across any trainers worth my time here, weakling.

[When Blue had first been Ported in and given the orientation (as all new imPorts do), his first question had of course been, "What do you mean there's no Pokémon here!?" It'd been his 2nd and his 3rd question, too. When he'd finally met someone, dropped off in downtown Heropa, that would actually give him some form of answer, he couldn't help but feel like their stare was a little judgmental as they finally pointed him the way of the imPort housing in Heropa, where there was someone else that knew what these "Pokemans" were.]

[Blue wondered why they'd given him such a stinkeye, honestly.]

[It's as he's wandering down the sidewalk with Pidgeot soaring overhead of him that he hears shouting from one of the backyards in the first row of housing, and peers over the fence.] Huh? Hey, that's a Sharpedo...! [He hisses to himself, and half to Pidgeot, as he scrutinizes what appears to be the shark Pokémon's trainer. He sees another figure in the yard too, but can't see the redhead's face from where he is.]

Hey! [He calls over the fence, throwing his arms onto and leaning over it to boost himself up. Pidgeot flutters down and perches on it next to him, preening its feathers and ignoring the other goings-on.] You a trainer, pal?

[archie elects to ignore niko for now. the kid has pissed him off enough to be honest.]

Yeah! [he calls back.] I usually take Sharpedo down to the sea but we're too tired today.

[he nods towards pidgeot.]

Watch that damn Pidgeot. I got rabbits!

[Blue just chalked it up to the fact that he'd spotted the Sharpedo before anything else, but in the back of his head was a nagging assurance that Archie ...trained (was?) the Water-type. Yeah, must be trained.] Oh yeah? Good place to train one, I guess. [Must have made him think of that.]

[He crosses his arms over the fence and rests his chin there, apparently content to hang there for the moment. The warning gets a confused look- he glances to Pidgeot, who looks back, and coos questioningly. Blue shouts back:] ...You mean a Buneary? [He was pretty sure they were known as the 'rabbit' Pokémon?] Pidgeot's trained better than that, don't worry about it.

[...What's that weird music that's started playing ever since he hopped up on the fence?]

[he gives pidgeot a Look, that clearly says he will fight the pokémon himself if it tries anything.]

You're gonna have to learn an entire new cache of animal names, mate! I did. I still don't fuckin' know most of them apart.

Weird. [He mutters under his breath, then looks to the gate. Well, he might as well let himself in. Hops off the fence, walks around to open the latch. The music somehow gets louder as he enters and approaches the poolside.]

[Pidgeot, meanwhile, tosses Archie a flat, disinterested look that could be 'bring it, little man', or could just be the equivalent of a bird shrug. Who knows!]

What the heck do you mean, new names? Like, there's new Pokémon here? [The guy looks pretty excited about that, from his cocky grin.] Ha! Looks like I won't be bored, then! [He glances over to Sharpedo, sizing it up- it looked pretty well-trained, but right now, it was just lazing in the sun.] Unless all the trainers here are weak.

[he nods over to the rabbit hutch in the corner of the garden. one of the rabbits is out, against all prey instincts of pidgeot and chewing calmly on some kale.]

They're just... it's like everythin's a normal type with no moves, ya know? They're not really as smart either. Nice, though. Placid.

[Blue squints at the rabbit across the yard- yeah, that was definitely no Buneary... Pidgeot continues preening itself disinterestedly, then flutters down into the yard proper and begins pecking at the grass here and there.]

[You're safe for now, rabbits.]

Sounds boring. [Blue yawns loudly, and stretches his hand behind his head.] I'd have a Magikarp tank if I wanted that. [Which reminds him- he glances again at Sharpedo, then at Archie proper.] ...So there's really no wild Pokémon here? What kind of region is this?

[it's when pidgeot flies down that the rabbit finally hops back inside its cage.]

Well, yeah, but they're cute! I like 'em. [he shrugs.] Beats me. I've met like legit aliens though so it doesn't really bother me anymore. I kinda feel like... what's there to be surprised about now, ya know?

Jeez, I guess if you like cutesy Pokémon-- or whatever they are. [Animals, psht.]

[He's about to ask about the rest of Archie's team, but-- hold on now, this is just his first day and] Aliens? [Blue gives Archie a snotty, disbelieving look.] ...That's just made up stuff, isn't it?

[Then again, there was the rumors he'd heard about that space station over in...] Hey, what region you from?

I like all Pokémon, [he says idly. the dreamy sigh of a kid that's just got their starter, not someone who's actually seen that some pokémon are literal monsters.] Naw, they were obviously a different species. Plus, I had fuckin' Kyogre roar in my face. Ya think I can really have scruples about shit after that?

[answer: no. also, they're his friends!]

[Blue makes a face- how sappy- even if the sentiment was... Well, Pokémon were life. He could get that.]

[Wait, what] Kyogre!? ...You mean like the super-ancient Pokémon?

[He looks to Archie, glancing slightly above eye-level to his bandanna, then to Sharpedo, then back. His grin has become something more of a grimace.]

...Team Aqua, huh. I heard about all that! Guess you learned your lesson, then.

[he doesn't react; doesn't try to defend himself. archie still has some severe lingering issues from what he did - hello now-permanent dark circles under his eyes and a personality change that's left him a lot less confident than he once was - he only snorts lightly.]

Yeah, idiot learns that messing with a legendary is a shit idea. That's only... what, the five hundredth time?
