[Getting ready for a date takes a lot less time in the moment than he'd thought it would.
He doesn't have the extra funds yet for much clothing, he's saving for more important things, so picking out an outfit is simple when there's only a few to choose from. His hair needs trimmed, but it still styles easily enough. He'd allotted himself an hour for everything before he'd have to leave and he has forty minutes left. Otabek heads out anyway, taking his time walking through the city to Yuri's place. He ends up stopping once to pick up an impromptu gift and arrives ten minutes early.
He's not nervous about their date. They'll have a good time together. He knows this because it's Yuri. It's.. the unpredictability attached to their future and his future here, that puts butterflies in his stomach. Otabek likes having a clear path, something to follow and reach for. He can't seem to put what him and Yuri are too each other in such a small box; doesn't want to. Breathing out and straightening his shirt, he knocks on the door.]
Viktor.
[It wasn't who he'd expected, but it doesn't surprise him, they do live together.]
Good morning. Is Yuri available?

Viktor.
[It wasn't who he'd expected, but it doesn't surprise him, they do live together.]
Good morning. Is Yuri available?

no subject
He's surprised when he hears the knock so early, glancing up the stairs and debating if he should call Yuri down to answer it himself.
... Naaah. ]
Otabek~ It's good to see you. Yuri's not quite ready yet so come on in.
[ He steps aside to let him enter, closing the door after him. Makkachin also comes to see who's at the door, bumping her nose against Otabek's hand looking for pettings and panting happily. ]
no subject
It's good to see you, too.
[They haven't met up in person since Otabek had arrived, though they've spoken. Everything has been.. complicated and he was certain that the older skater would want to speak to him after the harsh words Beka had given him through text about Yuri. Speaking of -]
Did he tell you why I was coming this morning?
[The way Viktor spoke implied that he knew, but Otabek was careful so he didn't accidentally share something Yuri didn't want anyone else to know.]

[A brief pause as he comes closer, gently moving past Viktor's ball of fur.]
I apologize for my behavior before. I shouldn't have stepped in.
no subject
It's fine. You were worried, right? I actually appreciate it.
no subject
[Otabek had wanted to help and didn't know what other way to go about it than confront the issue head on. Sitting beside Viktor, he rests a hand on Makkachin's back.]
I know you mean a lot to each other.
no subject
Mmm, and I know you mean a lot to each other. So I'm glad he had you to talk to during ... all of that.
no subject
That's what friends do. [They comfort each other when it's needed, defend and protect. Actions have always meant more to Otabek than words and he tries to show how someone means to him, rather than say it usually. In small ways and in bigger displays. Listening is easy but can mean a lot to someone.] I'll wait here until he's ready, if that's alright.
[As long as Yuri needs or until Viktor makes him go.]

[ Please excuse Viktor while he fawns over his dog in the most embarrassing way possible, Makkachin's tail thumping against Otabek with renewed vigor. Poor Yuri who has such an embarrassing guardian making a scene in front of his date. ]
no subject
But he's forgotten about it entirely by the time he reaches the bottom of the stairs, cheeks flushing a light pink when he spots Otabek waiting already.]
Shit—how long have you been here? Viktor, why didn't you get me!?

[Turning at the sound of someone coming down the stairs, Otabek immediately stands up, straightening his clothes as he faces Yuri. There's very little outward reaction to the blond's appearance other than the way he pauses, lips pressed together as his eyes flick from the braid, down and back up to his face. He'll wait until they're alone to say what he wants to say.]
Yuri.
no subject
It's a relief when Otabek speaks up and catches his attention again. This he can deal with. Otabek is as calm as always, a comforting presence without trying. Yuri flashes a warm smile.]
Otabek. Sorry I kept you waiting.
no subject
It's alright. I've only been here a few minutes.
[After Yuri and Viktor have finished talking, and they have a private moment to greet each other, he takes a step closer to Yuri, reaching out to brush his knuckles affectionately across Yuri's jaw.]
You look beautiful, Yura. I have something for you.
[He reaches into his pocket for the small pouch it's in, handing it over; the ring is handmade glass, probably not practical for everyday use, but he'd thought it was sweet and Yuri might like it.]
no subject
The ring distracts him from his own pride quickly though, and he holds his hand out for it.]
What the hell... Where did you find this? [Surprised as he sounds, there's a clearly appreciative tone in his voice. It might be a little cute by itself, but he's sure it'll blend in neatly along with the rest of his accessories. And of course he's not going to turn down cat themed jewelry.]
no subject
[Because Yuri is unique and there would never be another just like him. Otabek tucks sentimentality aside for a moment, dropping his hands to keep from touching Yuri more than he might want. He has no problem being open with the other skater, he's always thought they were alike and that made it easier to express himself, but this is their first date and he wants to do it right.]
Do you like it?
no subject
Look, it even fits. [And thank god that it did. Of course he liked the ring and wanted to keep it, but even more than that he'd have hated to see Otabek disappointed if he couldn't wear it.] You did a good job picking it out.
no subject
[He hasn't made specific plans beyond a shared meal, didn't want to assume that Yuri had that much free time to dedicate to him today, but he would use up every minute given wisely.]
We'll have to walk. I'm saving for a motorcycle but it will be awhile.
[Soon, possibly a fixer upper.]
no subject
[Naturally, he's moving for the door as he speaks so that by the time he finishes, he's already got it open for the pair to make a quick escape. Viktor will have to wait until next time.]
I don't mind the walk. It'll be a good way to finish waking up this early, but I do miss your bike.
no subject
If I find one used, I can work on it slowly. Make it mine at my own pace so that it means more when it's ready.
[As they start walking towards their destination, Otabek drops his hand to his side, bumping the back of it against Yuri's gently. He's all imagined that it'd be nice to hold hands with someone you're going on a date with, but he doesn't want to make the other skater uncomfortable. A little nudge. Nothing that can't be ignored.]
no subject
That sounds like a pretty good idea. [He takes Otabek's hand in his while he's talking. It's...more pleasant than he'd expected. Maybe there was something to it.] Maybe you could show me some stuff about how it works while you're fixing it up.
no subject
I could teach you to drive it. [Yuri was strong, he could handle controlling the bike as long as he taught him how everything worked.] I would look for a place with enough room to practice.
[He rubs his thumb idly across the back of Yuri's hand, brows pinched together as he thinks it over.]
We're close in height so I know the motorcycle I chose would work for you, too.
no subject
Shit, that'd be amazing. We've got to get you one as soon as possible!
