But If You're With Me
WHO: Akira Kurusu and various, also OPEN
WHERE: All around, Nonah and Maurtia Falls for the most part
WHEN: The first two weeks of July
WHAT: Open and Catch-All! Akira wandering in the rain, and getting up to no good, as well as general shenanigans.
WARNINGS: Possibly some violence, probably some kind of criminal activity, anything else TBA
I. Nonah- Open
Something that had become a bit of a habit of Akira's was exploring Nonah after he got out of work around 8pm. It was a bigger city and generally friendly and bustling, without too much as far as suspicion or anything from the natives. He could walk around without anyone really noticing him, which was a really wonderful feeling. Freeing, if anything was. This evening was perhaps even moreso, as the rain kept people under their umbrellas, and generally kep them from peering under his, since compared to most imPorts, Akira didn't stand out much in a crowd. 5'9", big nerdy glasses, a wiry frame, and dull, grey clothing made it easy to become part of a crowd.
Honestly, this was about all he did to wind down these days. Wandering a city street alone and working out now and then, because he had made friends with some Big Football Boys and he might have been roped into trying to play American football by them. Oh, and the minor detail of getting back to work as a Phantom Thief, but he wasn't focused on any of that right now. Instead, he was checking out about as much of the night life as a seventeen year old boy could, which meant no bars or anything, but it was still fun to look around.
After awhile of just walking around though, he figured he could actually do something. Maybe get a bite to eat before heading home, but he was still pretty new in the ares, so eventually Akira would stop when he found someone who looked confident enough in their surroundings and not overly busy.
"Uhm, excuse me", he started, attempting to get their attention while remaining unobtrusive, just in case they didn't want to be bothered with him. "But do you know where a good place to eat nearby is?" Any reccomendations would be good.
II. Maurtia Falls- Open
Unlike wandering Nonah in the evening, Maurtia Falls made Akira uneasy. Maybe it was just because of the rumors of it's illicit nighttime activities, or perhaps it was actually just that seedy of a place? Either way, Akira had most certainly found himself in the kind of place that one would describe as 'the wrong place'. Thankfully, he had already stopped by the contact he had been given by Adachi and had picked up something to defend himself with if he needed it, but he wasn't making a beeline for the Porter either.
He had important work to do here in Maurtia Falls, and it was for that reason that he was carefully scouring the streets for other people, intentionally looking as though he were up to no good. But what could a teen like him be looking for here after the sun set?

CLOSED to Akechi
He knew that more than anything, Akechi needed support, and that him going without it could bring out any number of bad behaviors.
With that in mind, he had ended up at Maurtia Falls Assigned Housing #11. He suspected that there might be roomates there to attend to like he had in his own place, and honestly he didn't want to deal with that. So it took him some time to figure out which window lead in to Akechi's room, but soon enough he made his way there. It took some time for him to get the window to open enough, but soon enough Akira managed to slip in quietly, as any good thief would.]
Hello...?
[Possibly not the best way to approach a young detective, but Akira hadn't quite thought of that yet.]
no subject
Well, fight them it is.
He makes sure his towel is around his waist tight, fingers gripping the cotton as he shoves the door open quickly -- trying to surprise his assailant.
He manages to grab their arm, sweep kick them to topple their balance, then slam them into the floor with their arm pinned. His knee pressed into their back, eyes hard and ready to threaten on a moment's notice.
Until he notices it's Akira.
Until he realises that threatening ANYONE while naked was likely not that intimidating. ]
...Akira.
no subject
Mmmph!
[Honestly though, how had he not figured out how to get out of such a hold yet?]
Hey. Nice to see you too.
It's hard to breathe like this. [He grunted a little more as he shifted from side to side, attempting to shake Akechi off of him, but not with much vigor.]
no subject
[ He sighs, releasing him as he looks him over. He really did look good at his mercy. It was a pity things never seemed to go his way. Then again, Akira would have been dead if they did. Goro rubs his face for a moment, before he turns to find at something to cover himself.
He pulls open one of the drawers in his room, then pulls up a pair of lounge pants in haste to at least be decent. ]
What has you here at this hour? I hope the police weren't called to you breaking into my apartment.
no subject
I hadn't thought that far ahead.
[He was just in the area, and decided 'hey, why not?' And now here he is.
With Akechi off of him, Akira rolled over to sit up, looking toward Akechi. He was pretty nude right now, and Akira wasn't super sure he should say anything about it? Should he? Shit.]
Catch you at a good time?
no subject
[ He sighs, before he runs his fingers through his hair. ]
I suppose not, actually. [ Despite the lack of clothing, it was not quite a bad time. He didn't have many plans, just meeting with Futaba to see about adopting a cat. He was infinitely nervous about this, but he was not going to cancel on her without a reason.
He had none. ]
... You know there isn't much of a night life here, so to speak. I hope you don't mind staying indoors.
no subject
Akira stood up, brushing himself off.]
Probably would've called if I thought ahead enough to, but I kinda just wanted to see you. Talk face to face.
[Honestly, Akira was nervous, and he'd done this on a whim to stop himself from chickening out and ignoring it.]
I like talking to you face to face.
no subject
[ There was a bit of hope in his voice, a small bit of worries, and perhaps it was skeptical all at once. He never really had someone who wanted to see him before, and he was trying to figure out Akira's intentions towards him. He decided to break into his house with no plan, just to see him?
It was absurd, but he can't help but smile. Way to be a little over the top. ]
I enjoy our conversations as well. ...Well you're here now. What would you like to talk about?
[ He's trying not to be too awkward. The conversations before this were with adults who regarded him with contempt because of his intelligence. He was trying to impress adults, impress those around him for their respect.
Goro was glad he didn't seem to need to impress Akira. ]
no subject
[Akira had no hesitation in his voice as he answered. He really had wanted to see Akechi, anyway.
It was just a bonus that he was naked. On any case, there was probably no way to make this not some amount of awkward.]
Uhm. Well remember how I was talking about all of that stuff with Mementos? I said I wanted to talk about it in private, and now we're in private...
[Not much more private than breaking into someone's room.]
Also... I wanted to apologize for the uh... the party.
no subject
[ He takes a moment to think about that night. The flirting, the kissing, then throwing him in the pool -- what was there to apologise for? It wasn't like it hurt or anything.
Maybe a little bit.
It stung, knowing he didn't quite trust him to be alone with him. ...except here he was alone in his room with him. He offers him a small smile, leaning forward as he looks at him. ]
Don't worry about it. We were a little inebriated at the time.
no subject
[Not for the kissing, really. They had both clearly been interested in that, since it was reciprocated, but maybe a little for the teasing, and mostly for the rejection.]
I want to clarify that I don't mistrust you, despite what I suggested then. After all, this meeting and the last meeting with you, I was completely alone. I haven't even told the others that we've been speaking.
[He took a seat on the bed there, making himself comfortable enough as he crossed a leg over one knee, folding his hands over it in a look that probably suited Joker more than Akira, despite the two being one and the same.]
I've just been a little. I dunno, vulnerable-feeling. This whole place has me all stressed out and acting out in unexpected ways.
no subject
[ Why hadn't he told anyone else? What would they say if they knew? He sits back a bit on his bed, bringing his knees to his chest. He honestly hadn't expected that he wouldn't actually say anything to his team mates.
That was comforting in a way. ]
You could relax more. Take time to relax before you run head first into whatever stupid thing you have planned. [ He's certain he had something up his sleeve. ] I certainly know the feeling. Being left alone with my thoughts has... made things interesting.
no subject
Well, Yusuke's temper has been bad, and he'd had enough on his plate. I didn't want them worrying about me or over-reacting. Mostly Yusuke, but it kind of felt like it'd be stupid to tell Futaba and not tell Yusuke.
[A complicated mess of things was why he'd decided to keep it to himself.]
Besides, that's not how you act with a friend. You don't have to call your other friends and let them know you are going to see anyone.
[He frowned then, kind of deflating. Boy he wished he could relax more, but there was a downside to being as invested in everyone's happiness and safety as he was.]
Well, you don't have to be alone with your thoughts if you don't want to be. I made a whole mess of curry back at my apartment and one of my flatmates can't even eat human food, so if you ever want to help me get rid of some leftovers, feel free.
no subject
I appreciate it, but despite us being friends [ the word still foreign on his tongue, and he scowls briefly at that fact ] you shouldn't allow your friends to feel like you are keeping anything from them.
[ He chuckles, trying to let his guard down a bit. He can't help but always feeling on guard with them. Was Akira being kind for an underlying reason? Was he plotting something? If that was the case, then he would make sure he would find a way to circumvent it. His thoughts were a mess of worries and fears -- and he was lost in it all. ]
Curry! I'm almost afraid of what it might taste like. ...though you're here now. It would be ridiculous to go back to your place to talk.
no subject
I'm not keeping it a secret from them. IF it comes up in conversation I'll gladly let them know, but I just don't see a reason to make a big deal of it.
[It might be a bit of a big deal, but he wanted to downplay it just because it meant that perhaps they'd be less worried about it in the future.]
Oh yeah. No reason to leave now. Like, I'd hate to force you to get dressed, anyway.
no subject
[ He tries to relax, sitting back against the wall despite keeping his knees up. He's still hesitant around everyone - including his roommates. Goro needed to find the time to introduce himself to his roommates after all. ]
So... what did you want to talk about?
[ Why was he so bad at this? He felt awkward, unable to truly connect with people his own age. Maybe if he knew more of their plans, he could feel useful, but with only one person on their team who trusts him...
That was likely never going to happen. ]
no subject
[He was thieving, of course. And he'd already made some contacts... and some mistakes, probably.]
I think we could probably help each other out.
[He smiled at that, adjusting his glasses a little as he turned his body to face Akechi a little more.]
And here where we're alone, I can give you any kind of information you're looking for.
no subject
So you want to know about my abilities? I suppose I could aid you in that - if I can be of use to you then I will be truthful with you.
I'm curious to what information you could offer me.
no subject
[Surely, Akechi knew that. Hearing that he was willing to be truthful and useful to him made Akira smile though, looking as warm as he ever did. It was nice to be able to talk with him like this. Akira wanted more than anything to help Akechi to not feel alone.]
Well, I have a few contacts in the Maurtia Falls underground already. People who are willing to sell weapons to people with cash regardless of legality. People willing to buy things without asking how I got them.
[He was a nasty crime boy, after all!]
no subject
[ His eyes go a little wide, before sitting up completely, legs dangling off his bed. ] Already!?
[ He's actually shocked at that - he did work quickly. He leans back again, rubbing his face with a slight groan. Of COURSE he already had illegal contacts, and it was almost ironic that it was in his city. Was that on purpose?
Yes, yes it had to be. ]
You work fast. [ A brief pause. ] How can I help?
no subject
No, he really should like. Not do that anymore. If he got used to it, he'd get comfortable, and could let his guard down if someone actually broke in. Still, Akira didn't really want to wake up his roommates if he didn't have to...]
Well, you know how we work. We have to know people who need changing. I don't need names here though, just addresses and any kind of profile. My ability is tied to stealing objects of importance, so that part is on me, but... I mean if you get any cases that are tough...
We could make them turn themselves in.
[He shrugged at that.]
Especially since we're dealing with people who also have powers here, getting evidence might be difficult. I'd like to be able to collaborate a little. And in return, I can get you anything you need. Or I could just give you another kiss~
[He winked at Akechi then. He couldn't help it, he HAD to. Just one ok. Just one tease. For now.]
no subject
You abilities at least work in the real world - that is something to keep in mind.
[ He really didn't mean to muse out loud, but now it's already out in the open. He hasn't told anyone he has his Persona, or well both of them. He knew they likely assumed he did, but the circumstances of how he uses them are... complicated. ]
I wouldn't mind collaborating. [ He raises a brow, crossing his arms. ] Well....a kiss wouldn't be so bad.
[ Record scratch -- he meant to think that. Save this boy he's just going to bury his face into his hands cause that was letting his guard down too much and he's now ready to just throw himself out his window. Why did he say that?! Akira please. ]
no subject
Oho~ Are you still inebriated, Goro?
[It was GOING to just be one tease but now he's let it out, there was no containing that beast.]
Well, we could always seal the deal with a kiss~ It's kind of romantic, isn't it? A thief stealing his way into your room at night to do some shady business, then parting with a kiss. Hm hm.
[Akira moved to get a little closer to Akechi on the bed, absolutely leaning into this if Akechi was going to just go along with it.]
Sure do love our fairy tales, don't we?
no subject
[ He leans back a little bit, blushing. Betrayed by his own mouth and now Akira was leaning forward, talking about fairy tales and kissing him. Him! Why would he want to kiss him of all people? He pulled the trigger, he smiled while he watched him bleed in the interrogation room.
And he's smiling, and looking at him devilishly -- he wasn't sure if he should push him back or pull him close.
Choke him or kiss him. He bites his lip, mind racing as he tries to find the right words to say. ]
It is... romantic. Thief stealing a Prince's heart, wasn't it?
[ Was that what he wanted to say? His chest hurt, his throat suddenly dry-- torn between polar opposite emotions. ]
no subject
Akira sighed a little, his expression dropping from the wicked grin he wore to something more friendly. He didn't move away from him, though, just staying there and watching as Akechi turned red and backed away.]
I like you the best when you're like this.
[Not all uptight, discussing business, talking about what the Phantom Thieves did to his father or what he'd done in his past. This Akechi felt real. Even if it was induced by just being a little off-the-wall.
The problem was that Akira really could kiss him right now, without anything in his system. And Akechi could choke him, and he wouldn't even blame him for it.]
Could I do that? Would you hate it? Would you hate me?
no subject
[ He's quiet, not moving back further as he notices Akira hasn't moved much further. He liked him like this? Struggling to understand what emotion he wanted to convey, struggling to keep himself from pushing Akira back on to the bed and wrapping his fingers around his neck.
He'd look beautiful with such bruises -- beautiful beneath him as he gasps for air.
What was wrong with him? ]
What would you find if you stole my heart, Akira? What would you pull from the depths of my palace? Would you still be asking me those question then?
no subject
I don't know, Goro. I can't know. I feel like I've gotten to know you over the year, through your ruse and through your betrayal, and now through your... rehabilitation.
Maybe it'd be something to symbolize your fame, maybe it'd symbolize the attention you want, but...
[Akira tilted his head to a side then, really, truly thinking on it. What he thinks Goro prized the most was his own strength, his independence, but he didn't truly have it, feeling like he was tied to his father and wanting so badly to be recognized. To be cared for. He wanted friendship, right? He must be lonely.]
I can't know your heart without stealing it.
[So he'd just have to do that. He reached out to place a hand on Akechi's then, moving once more to steal another kiss, this time without alcohol to ease the process. He'd just have to see if the Detective Prince really meant it when he said he didn't mind.]
no subject
[ He practically whispers, not hesitating at the touch. He wanted him to take away his pain (in the regard to giving back his agency, not to burden Akira with his issues) and help him learn to be something more than a puppet. He longed for friendship, to no longer feel isolated because of his celebrity status back home, to feel wanted by someone.
He can't say he's not shocked that Akira was kissing him, but he's shocked it so soon. There's hesitation, cautious movements as he actually returns the kiss.
Goro wasn't expecting Akira to use his name. Was this what Akira really wanted or was it simply a whim? Was he wanting a relationship or a lover out of him? Questions that died on his tongue as he ends up moving a little closer.
If this was all he could manage from him then so be it -- he would take what he could get. He'd try. He'd be useful.
He wasn't going to make the same mistakes twice. ]
no subject
He hadn't threatened Akira, gotten defensive, lashed out. He'd been nothing if not helpful, even if it was for somewhat selfish reasons, and he was here now, allowing himself to be vulnerable around Akira in a way that he never was around others. Maybe not around anyone.
In truth, Akira wasn't certain what he wanted here either, and he was usually quite decisive, but for in matters like this. He had wanted Akechi to be his friend, but he was fairly sure that friends don't lock lips(unless they were drinking, maybe???). Oh well, he'd have to parse it some more later. Maybe Adachi was more right than he thought he was? How troublesome.
Either way, Akira only lingers for a little longer on his lips once Akechi responds, unable to help but bite gently at his lower lip before retreating.]
Mhhh, not bad. I could get used to that.
no subject
You're a menace.
[ He laughs, shaking his head. Of all the things to say, and to do! Was this a trick? He wasn't ready for this -- this?? Whatever this was. He resisted the urge to shove him back, to scream at him to get lost. Internally he was torn between thinking this was all just some big joke, that if Akira betrayed his trust now then... well he would find a way to get a gun and finish what he started. ]
I could say the same, at least.
no subject
I won't deny that.
[He shrugged, not upset at all by being delegated as a menace. At least he was a cute menace.]
Well, I'd love to stay and 'get used to it' all night, but I should probably head out. I'm unregistered, so it takes me a bit to get to the Porter to get home.
no subject
[ He motions to the window, fully expecting that Akira was just going to jump out of it again. After the effort he went through to get in, he might as well put the extra effort into leaving. ]
no subject
Yeah... I'm going to call from now on, for sure. So if someone crawls through your window and I haven't called, feel free to have at 'em.
[Because he definitely didn't want him to get used to unannounced night visits from a window friend. This was a one time thing, no matter how fun it was, and no matter how badly he wanted to joke about getting pinned for it.]
Alright, goodnight!
[He hopped off of the bed then, heading to the window and sliding out, one leg first, then the other before his torso fell out with the help of gravity. Don't worry though, he actually pretty much literally had the reflexes(and jumping ability) of a cat, and managed to hit the ground on his feet without any issue, regardless of whether this was a first or second floor window. No effort!]

Other thing that happens more often than not, is finding people in trouble. Kaneki usually minds his own business, but it's hard finding a teenager in trouble and ignoring it. He doesn't do that, so eventually he just walks up to Akira and the attacker.
"I wouldn't move another muscle, if I was you."
no subject
It took a moment before Akira went to look at Kaneki, his lips drawn tight and his eyes a little wide, but it turns out that the would-be mugger was enough of a coward to not make a move when there were two people to contend with. "Ah, Kaneki-san!", he said, finally lighting up as if he had almost expected him to be here.
He turned for a moment to face the stranger that had been following in his footsteps, trying to memorize anything about him that he could. This was good. He could be the Phantom Thieves' first target. Awkwardly, the stranger attempted to shuffle his way around them as Akira's attention left him.
"How's it going", Akira said after a moment, probably more nonchalant than he should be.
no subject
As he moves away, kaneki's eyes follow and only when the man is out of sight he turns to the teen, a completely different expression - more worried. "What are you doing here?" it's dangerous, obviously. "This place can get dangerous, you know?"
no subject
"Oh, uh. I have a friend in the area." It wasn't really a lie, and he DID plan on meeting him, though what he'd come here for initially had been to do some shady deals. It was for a good cause, he took himself, and so it was easy for him to lie in order to hide it. Adults wouldn't understand.
"I figured it'd be easy enough to slip by unnoticed, but I guess a kid just makes too easy of a target, right?"
no subject
"Do you want escort to your friend's place?" he is offering, but of course Akria can say no. Kaneki is not going to interfere with his life, even if he worries. "It'd be better if you didn't walk around at night all by yourself."
no subject
"Mh, I don't think I need an escort, but it wouldn't hurt to have someone around until I get nearer to where he lives", he said, tapping on his chin thoughtfully. It would be good if he wasn't jumped, after all, even if his Persona made it easier to deal with people who try to get the drop on him.
no subject
Kaneki nods softly at that suggestion though "I can take you there, it won't be an issue. Akira will have to decide HOW he wants to go back home after visiting his friend, though - hopefully he'll manage it without getting mugged.
1
Hello, again. Akira, wasn't it?
[She pauses for a moment, thinking.]
I don't, I'm afraid. But I'd be happy to wander around with you in order to find one, if you like?
no subject
Uh, yeah that's me.
[Give him a moment. He's sure he's met her before and that they exchanged names. He remembers something about being an alien, but he was pretty sure he said it.]
... I can't for the life of me remember if I got your name, sorry. But I guess wandering with someone is better than doing so on your own.
no subject
That's alright. We got pretty inebriated that night.
["Crunk", as the modern children might say.]
It's Cinders! I'm a friend of Yusuke's.
