WHO: Kaneki + Eda
WHERE: :Re Café
WHEN: Beginning of July
WHAT: Meeting new people
WARNINGS: None for now!
[ re: Café is a small coffee shop located in Nonah, open from 4pm to 2am. It can be found at a quiet neighborhood of the city, and not many people would realize it’s a coffee shop at first glance, since it looks more like a place to sell and trade trinkets. Once inside, those trinkets will be obvious: they are everywhere. From a deer head on the wall, to a corner with an old desk with mannequins, re: Café is pretty much like an urban museum, with old and sort of interesting things that give it a strange mix.
If that isn’t enough, there are also shelves with a lot of books. They are old, new, used or not, and they are available to all clients. The collection is varied, and all sorts of genres can be found – even a steampunk styled book called “The Modern Machinist: A Practical Treatise on Modern Machine Shop Method”. Clients can pick them from the shelves, or even trade or offer some new books with the café (just ask which ones you can take; some are Kaneki’s personal collection).
This coffee shop is special for many reasons, but most people say it's because the owner is a known cannibal - ghoul, they call him - and it's no surprise there are many rumors about the place, from “the owner serves human flesh to his clients” to “you can find eyes floating inside your drink”. However, there is no proof of such, not even an Instagram photo. In fact, the owner seems pretty nice in general.
While wearing his uniform, Kaneki is seen preparing cute latte art, reading a book when he has time, or being kind and gentle to his clients. He smiles a lot and seems to have a lot of patience towards the groups of fangirls that show up at the place after school, almost everyday. In fact, that's what he is doing right now: he is at the counter making latte art while 5 teenage girls sit in front of him, giggling a bit as they watch. When he is done, he hands the cut to one of the girls with a smile, and that's when they start to ask him all sort of questions as fast as they can. Poor Kaneki can just smile awkwardly. Children pls. ]

She decides it's worth taking a trip to Nonah to see about it. She get's off after a shift in Taxi Driving, wears what looks to be casual. She's fully embraced the 50-ish kitsch style of this place, wearing jeans, a plaid shirt, old style sneakers, cat eye shades and a bandanna twined in her hair.
This place doesn't look bad, even quite fashionable in a urban, modern way, it's even run by a cute kid with gleaming pale hair. Eda feels like she needs to shudder a bit. Pale hair reminds of creepy murder twins.]

When a newcomer arrives, Kaneki peeks behind the counter with a bright smile, despite what Eda is thinking (it's not like he knows, anyway). He is wearing his uniform, the eyepatch on his left eye, gloves to cover his hands (his hands are... really weird looking, hence why he hides them) and nods at the woman ]
Welcome! Choose a table, I will be with you in a minute.
[ there aren't many people around, though there are people who come here everyday and he knows who is who; Eda is a whole new face, which means Ken will take a moment to get to know her, if she doesn't mind it.
Once she has found a place to sit, Kaneki will approach with a menu and a glass of water. The menu has mostly japanese sweets and pastries, though the house's specialty is cheesecake (not really a japanese cake, but everyone loves it) ] here it is the menu. If you don't know what the dishes are, let me know, I will try to explain.

Well, she isn't gonna be rude. She sits at a table not near a window. She's familiar with Japanese sweets, but the cheesecake looks tempting.]
Mind telling me about the cheesecake?
no subject
[ and people love it enough to say it's the best thing Kaneki has in the shop. For someone who can't eat anything, he is pretty good at making cheesecake by now ]
no subject
[She puzzles over the menu a bit more.]
Give me the Cheesecake please, and your strongest coffee.
no subject
And in any case, he explained cheesecake because not everyone had it in their world. And he likes to be informative, too. After all, Eda did ask.
Kaneki nods softly ] Alright, I'll be back in a moment.
[ it won't take long. Soon enough Kaneki brings her a slice of cheesecake and a nice cup of coffee - which will be pretty good considering how much of an elitist kaneki is about coffee ]

She stares at the group of fangirls nearby, then Kaneki.]
You're an ImPort like me, right? What made you open up a cafe?
no subject
And I guess that's why i opened my own place. I've had a couple of different jobs while I was here, and this ended up being what I'm most used to.
no subject
[Did he open a cafe to cope?]

Three years seems long, but after a while of getting used to the place and meeting others, it became just like a second home.
no subject
I almost want to ask how does a place truly feel 'home' but maybe that's not a question to ask, it's something to find out myself I guess...
[All her adult life she has been moving about and she isn't used to staying in one place... it's a bit weird.]
no subject
After a while being here it happens. It's not about the place, but about the people. [ even if they keep leaving. But there is always someone new in Kaneki's life and they make him happy ]
You'll get to meet some that meet a lot to you, eventually.

[Her fork plays with her cheesecake.]
You know any gossip around the porter cities?
[Being a cafe owner, he would know a what's going on. Or at least Eda hopes.]
no subject
He blinks at the question, though, before he smiles a little ]
It depends on the theme of the gossip. Anything you are particularly interested on?
no subject
She leans on the table, almost careless looking. Don't mind me, I'm just looking for gossip.]
Occurrences throughout the town, the heroes the villains, the people that aid both.
