a mutant and an ice skater walk into an apartment
WHO: Laurie Collins and Otabek Altin
WHERE: Heropa
WHEN: June 26th
WHAT: Otabek is Laurie's new roommate, and it's move-in time.
WARNINGS: none
[ It feels like a step in the right direction, even if it's a little nerve-racking. Sasha's gone. Laurie had waited before slowly, slowly cleaning out the room that had been left behind. She still can't throw anything out, really. Her former roommate's possessions are all neatly organized, boxed, and tucked into one side of her own closet. Everything's been cleared out and cleaned to make way for what's new.
What's new is Otabek, a professional ice skater from Kazakstan with a personality that meant she would've been crazy not to extend the offer of the apartment to him. He seemed reserved. He admitted to an enjoyment of reading. Apart from the professional sportsman aspect, he seemed amazingly normal.
Not to jinx it or anything, of course. It's a comfort, really! After everything she'd been though, with all the things that happen here... Normal is good. Normal is awesome.
She'd gone to meet him as the local porter, helping to carry whatever he'd let her. She lets out a huff when she's finally able to open the front door to the apartment and re-enter her (their) air-conditioned apartment. It's a relief. ]
Geez. The one thing I'll probably rag on Florida about is how hot and muggy it is. [ She heads for the kitchen to set down on the counter before moving to fetch Otabek's set of keys, one for the apartment and one for his room. ]
You hanging in there?

It was easier being new when your roommate was a seasoned resident. Especially when it came to superpowers, which he was struggling with.]
The humidity will take some getting used to. [Otabek travels a lot, so frequent temperature changes isn't unusual, but if he's going to be living here, he'll actually need to adjust.] I don't have much, which is good.
I am, thank you. [Some clothes, a few things he'd picked up over the last few weeks.] When I have the money, I'd like to get a bike.
Either fix one up or get it new.

Ooh. Yeah. The town's mostly pretty walkable, but a bike would definitely come in handy for longer runs. I've seen some nice looking paths set up along the beach, too.
[ She realizes as she passing the keys over that's she's thinking bicycles. ]
Oh, or-- Are you talking motorcycle?

A motorcycle.
[He should have elaborated, that would have been the polite thing to do.]
Do you know if they have them here? I'd like to get one.
[When he could, anyway. There were other things he had to get sorted out before he could do that.]
