I don't think beating people really helps to rehabilitate them after a point, anyway. It really just serves to make the person beating them feel self-righteous about abusing another person. Especially since you have been working on your rehabilitation on your own as it is.

Justice is about getting a person to realize their mistakes, and make a commitment to not repeating them, and that has already been served.
