"The Russians are trying to weaponize us," he says. "Make us their own personal army. They keep trying to do this every few months, with increasingly successful results. I don't know why we're not doing more against it. But to your point... we're not beholden to the government. I don't want us to be. And no, we shouldn't be an army of mercenaries; that never works out for the mercenaries and they're never quite remembered for anything in history other than brutality."

"I'm not interested in that." Though, he does think there is an element of conscripted soldier-ism in training everyone, but he thinks it's more for betterment, for people to decide what they want to do with their skills. Not everyone who works out decides to become a sports player, after all.
