It's like someone else is doing the time traveling, not us. We're just reset. What we do back home is in one, stable universe, and this one smushes all of these alternate universes and worlds together. It's been known to happen - a friend of mine who does some time travel stuff took me with him on this whole mission that I don't remember at all.

[ He shrugs. Time travel is kind of bullshit, he thinks, but he doesn't say it out loud, both because it's rude and because he doesn't cuss. ]

You're probably right in that there's more studies to be done on it. [ He's not the guy to do them, that's for darn sure. ] But that seems to be at least the basic concept behind it.
