[Ah, that was a question he should've expected. Surprisingly, none of the fans have asked yet. Maybe they're busy makin up imaginative stories in their heads, or they already knew. Nothing was impossible here. He looks between Tex and the twins, and after making sure Dipper is too busy sputtering at some other question, he answers her.]

It was Mabel, which is why we're here helping out her booth. Dipper thought that I was dating someone else because of something I said to Kaneda-san, but she figured it out.

And she what, smashed you two together because she thought it would be fun? [ Her voice is teasing, mostly. Details, Ken, details. ]

She knew we were friends, when we both suck at making friends. She got it out of Dipper that he liked me, too, so she called to tell me I should talk to him.

But that was after I lied to Kaneda-san that I was dating someone, then forgot I told him because I got ported out.

Why did you lie to Kaneda about that?

[amadaman]

I dunno. I thought it might make him leave me alone, but he just got more serious. He and Dipper did a stake-out at my school.

I'm not sure if you and Kaneda are close or if he enjoys screwing with you. They staked out your damn school?

[amadaman]

Both. It's both. He thinks I act like an adult so he finds it reason to mess with me more.

Yeah, that sure sounds like him. So they staked out your school and what happened when they found out you were single?

That's the thing.

Damn kid. I didn't think you could keep up a lie that well.

Well, I completely forgot I even said it to him, and they saw me with a classmate of mine and thought he was the boyfriend. Now Dipper hates him.

Apparently he reminds him of some fancy mermaid from home named Mermando? Wooed his sister or something.

And wooing his sister is a bad thing?

[amadaman]

Mabel has really bad luck with people who woo her being complete assholes, or monsters. Literally.

[ And suddenly Tex is very concerned. ] Well, shit. Has that been happening here?

[amadaman]

Peter Pan.

...For real flirting with her or just to be a dick? Because if it's the latter, I hope she's not taking it seriously.

He wasn't flirting, exactly. But he was nice to her, then made it sound like she helped when he hurt Tetsuo-san and put magic over Heropa.

I'm going to punch him for that one.

I'll hold him down.

Does he think anyone's stupid enough to believe Mabel helped screw up Heropa?

[amadaman]

No. That's now how it works -- he tried it on me, but I think he does this stuff to beat down on people's self-confidence.

Even if everyone trusts Mabel, if she thinks she can't trust herself, then it's easier for him to mess with her more. That's how he messes with Tetsuo-san.

He sounds like a damn idiot that needs to find a better hobby.

Has he been leaving Mabel alone since then?

He's been in jail, so I guess he has no choice but to. He still sometimes pops up and tries to ruin everyone's day.

If he tries to get close to her again, though... [Ken's little fist smacks his opposite hand. Threateningly, like an angry pup.]

[ That brings a small smile to her face. ] Promise to invite me along?

... Of course.

[And without thinking, he holds up his hand. Pinky promise??]
