Welcome one and all to the imPort cities' first ever neighbourhood block party! The streets of imPort housing have been shut off to free up the streets for some socialization, with plenty of tables and chairs to go around and a modest banner proclaiming: WELCOME NEW IMPORTS. Provided are two large barbecues, and enough food to feed even the most voracious appetites of all varieties - vegetables and tofu for the vegetarians, hamburgers and hot dogs for the meat eaters, and plenty of ingredients for imPorts to rustle up whatever sides they wish to make - but this time, imPorts are in charge of cooking for themselves. While the government may have funded this event, they are treating it as a largely hands-off affair; the government's watchful eye isn't present, save for an unattended table full of welcome brochures.

There is no monetary compensation for their work, but free food and drink is incentive for old imPorts to get to work in welcoming the newest among their numbers, and start to foster a sense of community between themselves and their neighbours. This event has been organized by house number, but there certainly aren't any rules against going from block party to block party to see who's available, and where.

And what of the imPorts that have been placed in individual housing or apartment buildings? Not to worry! Advertisements have been slipped into mailboxes and stapled to community bulletin boards to make sure that they're aware of the upcoming event, and they are encouraged to attend the block party closest to them.

Fire up those grills and enjoy, imPorts... and why not be a good neighbour and help answer a few questions?

[ Says the short blond fellow passing by with a plate of food for himself. ] Welcome to Nonah, by the way.

[Kaneda's about to strike up some conversation, but the whole thing about food in your mouth causes him to choke a minute, hitting his chest to get it all down. The moment it does, there's a gasp for air, and...unsurprisingly, reaching for another one.]

Heh, a guy's gotta eat, right?

[He smiles, leaning against the table as he holds it in his fingers. Maybe the city wasn't so bad after all...it was probably the best he's been treated in awhile, all things considered.]

So they really just give this stuff to us? No strings attached?

Honestly, this is a first, but that's what it's looking like.

[Both the offer from the city and the actual burger itself, taking a big chomp into it.]

[He's got this--just give him a chance to swallow real quick. It's a little pained...he kind of took a big bite, and he has to pound his chest to get it to all go down but...he manages.

Nonsense, old man! I can handle this--

[Spoke too soon, Kaneda. Think that burger's catching up with you now. Although fuck if he's going to let that weakness show, giving a smile and a thumbs up to Charlie.]

[ Charlie gives him a flat look. It's a good show, but he's not particularly convinced ]

Uh-huh. You need a bucket?

I'm good--

[one more pound to his chest, and he breathes out, holding a hand up.]

I'm good, really. Just...guess I ate too fast, hahaha!

Whooo-oooo. Good stuff, though.

All right. Just... if you feel like you're gonna barf, let me know and I'll magic a trash can over.

Gotcha. Wait...trash can powers? Man, did you get the short end of the stick.

[Forgive him, Charlie. He's...he's a teenager.]

[ Charlie manages a flat stare for about a second or two, and then he just barks out a laugh ]

[He can't help but laugh too, leaning on the table to support himself. After everything that's gone down back home, it was nice to just..small talk.

Even with an adult.]

[ He's only cleverly disguised as an adult. Well, no, he's cleverly disguised as a young adult. He's actually a lot older than he looks, but he certainly doesn't act it. ]
