Turning over a new LIF
WHO: The imPorts!
WHERE: The Ashen Tree, NYC, New York. Need help getting there? See here!
WHEN: April 14th, 8:00 PM - April 15th 1:00 AM
WHAT: The April Swearing In Guessing Game!
WARNINGS: None foreseeable!
Welcome to The Ashen Tree! This sleek, elegant private property leased out only occasionally for limited and exclusive events. The Ashen Tree is a five story, century-and-half old mansion down East 67th Street, constructed somewhat in the vein of those famed and excessive Vanderbilt houses. The theme inherent to The Ashen Tree is in black and white -- this duality means more than just visual aesthetic. There is right, and there is wrong. There is good and there is evil. There is Registered and there is Unsettled. This reoccurring dilemma won't be lost upon your hosts, governmental or otherwise.
The thrust of this Swearing In is to play a game! There will be two versions of this game. If you are newly imPorted (if this is the FIRST Swearing In that occurred since you have been ported in), then you are automatically entered into a raffle to win prizes! You can enter your name into the raffle ONCE for EVERY THREAD with A DIFFERENT CHARACTER that you have! How lucky you are! If you have BEEN here (if this is NOT the first Swearing In that occurred since you have been ported in), then you may only enter the raffle if you WIN at the game.
What is the game?
The Identity Game.
Every imPort who is in the DESIGNATED ROOMS: ROOT, TRUNK, BRANCH, and TWIGS will do their best to pretend to act like another imPort. If someone (who is also in character, just like you are) guesses what imPort you are pretending to be, then THEY may enter their name in the raffle. If you guess the pretend identity of someone else, then YOU get to enter your name in the raffle. There is no sign-up for who pretends to be whom, and there can be multiple imPorts impersonating the same imPort. That will not be regulated. The more you guess correctly someone's pretend identity (which can be achieved by threading with many people), the more you get to enter your name in the raffle. You MUST guess the identity of the imPort being impersonated correctly -- there is right and there is wrong. If someone guesses your character's impersonation correctly, then you have to tell them. You do not have to keep the same impersonation for the WHOLE LOG, but you do for at least a single thread! No changing up identity on someone. ANY imPort can play this game, INCLUDING new imPorts. While new imPorts can play the Guessing Game, or impersonate other imPorts to their desire, their eligibility to enter the raffle is still judged differently. Because they're new!
The LEAVES ROOM is the "safe" zone. You can be yourself! You can stop pretending! Well, maybe some imPorts never actually stop pretending -- maybe there is some gray between all this black and white.

[Hisoka, and he couldn't help but bother her for her attention seeing he sprawled out like that with an alcohol drink and a just as alcoholic chaser. How amusing. Either she can really hold her liquor or she's just as cheap as he is and taking advantage of the hand outs.]
Well you're definitely on your way to making it more fun.
[A pointed glance to the glass. To the tumbler. And he smiles an amused smile, sitting on a couch nearby. Hisoka himself wears a much less cheap and trashy but just as eye catching suit. His hair still dyed completely white, slicked back, lips glossed with a yellow lip paint to match some yellow eye shadow at the corners of his eyes.]
[He'll set his own glass of champagne down as he sits, not far enough to be unable to casually sip at it though.]
no subject
It's a start, anyway. Truth be told, I'm not sure I can be drunk enough for this party.
[She gives him a lazy once-over, one eyebrow raised, eventually settling on approval. Anyone choosing to clash with the stark atmosphere gets points in her book, at least to start with. Her own blending is only superficial given the cut of her outfit and the jarring fact that, up close like this, it's apparent that the skin displayed by her romper is badly scarred. Long knife slashes crisscross her arms and thighs, interspersed with smaller nicks and scratches. She could have hidden them with ease, but she did not.]
I may have to leave and start my own.
no subject
Can't make your own fun?
[A once over huh? He catches her eyes on the way up and just gives a coy smile, lips peeling up along his cheeks, leaning to set his chin on a hand. Approval, why thank you. He sure should get approval considering
all the budget in his show seems to go to himhe's worked so hard on his image and body over the years. She certainly has his attention though, even if he hasn't pried into getting hints about her possible powers yet. Certainly cute though, and silly with her two drinks and give-no-shits posture on that couch.][He will notice the scars though. Hardly ogling her legs, he's just extremely perceptive. They hardly get a glance though. Self inflicted? Or perhaps- not? Hard to say. He gives another smile.]
Would you? What sort? I suppose this is New York City, though I've only done a small amount of research concerning this place. Are you familiar with it?
no subject
I've been a few times, over the years. Different New York, of course, different universe. But I imagine there are some constants.
If nothing else, I could ask a local to show me a good time. [There are oh so many ways that could go. She tips her head back, laughing.]

no subject
We're all more than we appear here, or so I've been led to believe.
no subject
All of us? Yes I suppose, it's just a matter of how much more. Willing to share or will I have to wait for those drinks to be finished to get an answer?
no subject
There's no harm in telling. I'm enustari, a mage.
[Elsa is still unused to announcing herself so directly. Mages in her world tend to recognize each other on sight, and all of them would sense her power even if they did not know her name and face. Oh, well! One more thing to adjust to in this new world.]
no subject
You'll have to be more specific.
no subject
I was one of the best. That's what enustari means.
And then I lost my tags to this log, damnit.
it happens!
no subject
Do you favour any particular sort of magic?
no subject
As for me, I'm a Fabricator. [She taps her fingers on the side of her glass, considering how best to explain.] I build things—objects, machines—that manipulate magical energy.
no subject
[He realizes now this is a near heavy topic to be having with someone he just met, and chuckles a little.]
I'm sorry to be so curious, I can't help myself.
no subject
I'd offer to cast something and show you, but I plan on drinking a lot more before getting thrown out of this party.
no subject
Mm, does drinking make using your powers difficult? [He wonders why bother drinking then.]
no subject
As far as other people go, I've mostly met healers.
no subject
[A glance to her wrists, her legs. Makes sense now at least.] We could retire somewhere close by, not too far from the alcohol then? And hidden away. I'd just love to see how it works.
no subject
If you're that curious, we could sneak off to one of the bathrooms.
no subject
We could.
[A smile, and he'll move to stand.]
no subject
I think there was one this way.
[And with that she's off, ducking through the crowd with the empty glass still in hand. Down the hall from the Leaves room is the place she's looking for and, what luck, it's currently unoccupied.]
no subject
[He'll follow after, swift and quick behind her, not falling back at all and enters the conveniently unoccupied restroom with her. Eyes glued, feeling anticipation curl in his gut.]
no subject
Knife's at home, no pockets in this thing. [She selects one of the larger shards of glass and holds it up to the light, yes, that will do. Smiles at Hisoka.]
Now, what would you like to see?
no subject
I'm not sure where to begin. What sort of things can I ask for?
