MEET CHARLES
MEET THE CLONE
WHERE: A bit of everywhere.
WHEN: July
WHAT: Meetings, powers training, random encounters, clone-a-rama.
WARNINGS: TBA, Charles clone is likely to use telepathy without IC consent. Here is my telepathy permission post if you want to opt out of that.
a. home, still at Nonah
Charles lives in Nonah, in individual housing with Erik, Jean and Wanda. It's a two story building but with no stairs at the front and no thresholds that would make it hard to navigate with a wheelchair. If he has invited you into his home, he'll be waiting with a pot of tea and a tin of cookies. But if you're a chance visitor, he will welcome you just as warmly.
He's gathering his bearings finally and actually made a home for himself in the bedroom that used to be his, claimed some space around the house by piles of books often forgotten onto the tables and good scotch in a reachable cupboard in the kitchen. He's no longer red as a lobster what was going on after the beach episode of Swear-ins and Erik finally convinced him to have a haircut. Gone is the mullet and back is the 60's floppy hair-do. You might even catch him wearing a t-shirt, maybe with an X-men logo on it or a silly slogan, he got a few of those from Fanport.
Let's have a cup of tea or a game of chess, or just good conversation.
b. powers training at the danger room / Maria-Francis Foundation
The Maria-Francis Foundation building resides inNonahDe Chima. In the basement there is a wide space that Erik has been working with all month to get up and running as a powers training centre. The building is modern and tall, and Charles has taken a habit of waiting the people he's made appointments with at the front lobby.
He's excited to get the actual training started, get those hours in and grind some practice into people who have contacted him.
If you're not here for powers training, you can find him in the office, going through the Foundation's paperwork. You're damn right he's snooping on his own business. What of it?
c. interview, wherever seems convenient
Perhaps you're meeting him in a cafe or a park, he'll even agree to go the beach if that's convenient for you. What he's interested in is learning about what you have to say after all. Charles is very curious about what has aspired in this world before his time and how to put the details together into a cohesive picture in his mind.
He's quick to greet you with a smile and a warm handshake. Please, sit down. Would you like a cup of tea or coffee first? Do you mind if he makes some quick notes while you're discussing?
d. wildcard
Would you like something else? Perhaps run into him in the library or find him feeding pigeons one fine morning in the park? Maybe he was supposed to come to you? Are you having a dinner out? Are you one of the people he keeps an eye on and something is going awfully wrong? He would find a way to contact you. Throw me a bone, I'll run with it.
e. random encounter
Charles, the clone, looks and sounds exactly like the original but he doesn't have the stylish wheelchair with big X-symbols on the wheels. A big giveaway? Maybe not. His flippant attitude is probably the big neon sign that you weren't expecting. Wherever you meet - cafe, library, school, even the Foundation building - he's going to greet you with a sunny smile and a warm handshake, introduce himself if necessary and especially if you're a pretty brunette, he will flirt playfully while falling short with playing the caring and concerned game that Charles excels at.
He's going to be a little bit impatient, unlikely to avoid using his gifts even if you ask him to and multitasking to the max. Good luck catching all of his attention at any given time. But he's new to his powers, and easily overwhelmed.
f. for those he's interacted with before
As time goes by, he will start targeting Charles' friends and family. He'll find them at their work places or stage a random meeting elsewhere. Once or twice he'll even wander into the house in Nonah. You might find him at the kitchen having a cup of tea and leafing a genetics book, or perhaps wandering around, looking at pictures and fingering everything with curiosity. Or rolling into your workplace with a sunny smile and a suggestion to grab an early lunch.
g. wildcard
Something else you had in your mind? I'm an open book, come at me, bruh!
b.
Dressed modestly in a pair of dove-gray slacks (because potentially flying in a skirt is awkward) and a simple white blouse, Sansa enters the front lobby with a polite smile while glancing around curiously. Despite the smile, her gaze is guarded and there is an underlying current of nerves beneath the mask that she is presenting. Not that she believes she is in any danger but past experiences have made her a wary creature with new people and experiences. As kind as the Professor seems, this is her first time meeting him face to face and so she decides time will tell where he ends up on the scale of what she is familiar with.
no subject
"Miss Stark, how are you today?" he asks pleasantly. "I'm glad you could make it. Shall we down to the practice area right away?" he asks and nods towards the elevator.
Charles can tell she's hesitant to trust him. He doesn't even need to read her mind for it. She looks remarkably like Jean. So much so that it's hard to keep his thoughts about his favourite student from mixing with his thoughts about Sansa.

But he pulls himself together enough to come over at the agreed upon time. He knocks, he mentally tries to steel himself for what is probably going to be a very rough evening, and he puts his hands in his jacket pockets. Emily gave him this jacket. It's the only thing of hers he has in this world. And it may be totally unremarkable to everyone else, but to him, it's the one bit of comfort he has that he can trust.]
no subject
He rolls to the door when he hears the knock and pushes the door open with a smile. ] Good day, Brendan. Do come in. [ He pulls away from the door to let Brendan inside and give him space to close the door behind him. ]
Come this way, [ he urges, leading the way into his room beyond the living room and the dining room. It's very old fashioned with four poster bed and a sturdy bookcase on one wall. In front of the window there's a table with a chessboard on it and only one chair beside it. On the board there's a game going on. Black is losing. Maybe. ]

She arrives at the coordinates of the building he'd sent her via the comm, dressed in a more relaxed sort of outfit - one that seems suitable for training, even if it'll be more mental and physical. Once inside, she glances around at the interior of the building and takes a few tentative steps inside.
"Hello?"
no subject
"Jyn, it's good to meet you. I'm glad to see you could make it."
Charles wears a suit, grey on top of grey and leathery brown. He looks like a professor with his fishbone jacket and elbow patches. He rather likes the look.
He smiles as he nods towards the lift. "Shall we go down to the training facilities? We won't be interrupted there and we can settle down to talk for a bit."
god apologies for my typos; i swear i can type >_>

"Nice to meet you in person, Professor." She offers a hand to shake, her grip sturdy and incredibly strong. "Thanks for setting this up."
It's what she's spent the past year doing with Mon-El. He might never be able to return to Earth, but she can keep going. For his sake, and hers.
"Where do I start?"
no subject
"Good evening to you, I am glad you could make it." He nods to her and then leads her towards the lift. It's spacey enough that they can both have their own sides of it easily even if he's sitting in a clunky chair.
"Come this way. I'll show you the facilities. I have to admit that I am mildly challenged by your repertoire. I would like to suggest some sparring for you. Possibly against several other people at the same time, with their powers."

Oh, it's been lovely. [ He picks Erik's favourite place right out of his mind and suggests they go there. It's a little far away but surely Erik can take an extra half an hour off work, right?
He also doesn't ask how Erik's day has been because he already knows. That doesn't make a good impression, though, does it? ]

Interview/Power Training.
He's not entirely sure what to expect, exactly, on what Charles might have set up in helping with this, but he's curious enough to show up to find out. Appreciative of the offer, at the least. He comes at the arranged time, hoping to the right place once he enters, looking around.]
This is the right place, isn't it?
[He does kind of stick out, to say the least, with his white vampire uniform complete with cape and boots and all.]

In what little free time he has he's been marathoning medical documentaries and pouring over medical textbooks. There is so much to catch up on, so much to do, that when Charles rolls into his workplace as he's closing up, he has a satchel bag full of books and tries not to look too tired - or like he isn't absolutely planning on staying up reading instead of getting sleep or dinner.]
Charles. It's good to see you. What brings you all the way to De Chima, my friend?

Which was why he was surprised that he'd shown up, in his office -- and he'd just been about to pour a drink.
That's a shame.
"Charles! To what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked, his smile pleasant, open. No need to make an enemy of him.
no subject
So does the clone. Perhaps unfortunately.
He rolled into Tony's office with a smile, brilliant, sunny but not quite as warm as the one Charles used to wear.
"Mr. Stark, I hope I didn't didn't interrupt anything important." But despite his hopes, he didn't seem to be in the mood to apologise for possible disruption.
"I was in the neighbourhood," he said almost playfully and went to offer Tony his hand to be shaken. "I don't think I have visited you before. So, here I am." While Charles is safely working away at the school.

After a little bit of this, he put his communicator away, and started looking around, trying to distract himself, before finally turning to the person in line behind and greeting him.
"Hey, sure is busy today, isn't it?" he asked, forcing a smile on his face.
Jonathan hated waiting, but the best way to handle that was to distract himself so he didn't notice that he was waiting.
no subject
He flipped through this man's mind idly, curiously scanning his surface thoughts and then moved on.
"A little boring, though. Sadly so." He offered his hand. "Professor Charles Xavier."

Still, it's remarkable that he managed this much control, as he'd spent most of the morning looking like a frazzled Molly Hooper, much to his dismay. His body reacted uncaringly to his own emotions, and he was doing his best to avoid being in other people's proximity, wanting to avoid picking up on their emotions by accident. He could sense their feelings in fits and starts, it seemed to be stronger the closer he was to people, but other than suddenly becoming a bear for five minutes as a large angry garbageman crossed his path earlier that day, he was doing better, for now.
He couldn't avoid people forever, and that would interfere with his work. Plus he'd rather get some control of this...nonsense that was plaguing him.
It was still better than the last set of powers that he'd received.
no subject
With a sharp breath, he finally did, though, and presented a sunny smile as he offered his hand to a greeting. "It's good to meet you in person, Mr. Holmes."
He could also hear the disgruntled quality of Sherlock's thoughts, the discomfort he was experiencing and there was a calm that settled over Charles, easy and simple, readily affectionate. "Shall we get out of the crowd? That would be good, don't you think?" He nudged his head towards the lift at the other side of the lobby. "It'll be quiet down there."

How it works within him, where it comes from, and why, are all questions he can answer easily for himself. As for how others could come across the same power in a different way, or how someone could replicate his Persona, his spirit, his true self, in such a dangerous way was a mystery to him. As hesitant as he is to put trust in some man he doesn't know, if he really has been mentoring superpowered people as long as he says, then maybe he can help.
Yusuke shows up at the training center in De Chima unannounced, which is unlike him. He usually prides himself on his punctuality, but right now, the less advertised about his location, the better. His grip on the bookbag he always carries with him, full of sketchbooks both dangerous and otherwise, is tight as he pokes his head in. ]
Professor? I apologize, but we have spoken on the network, a couple of times. My name is Yusuke Kitagawa.
no subject
He smiles but doesn't offer a hand to be shaken as a greeting because he doesn't want to access this young man's mind to do so. ] Good day, Mr. Kitagawa. My office is upstairs, perhaps we can talk there. [ He waves towards the lift that the other side of the lobby. ]

Continuing from Comm Post
Poe looked a lot worse for wear when he showed up at the Porter to wait for Charles. He was bruised basically all over, his eyes dark and shadowed, though the hair on his head was still perfect. Having a super power dedicated to that helped.
He had a vague idea of who to look out for, but he wasn't his normal grinning self.
There was a lot more at stake than there had been a few days ago.
no subject
He looked up when he heard his name in the mental chatter around him and smiled and waved at Poe. But his smile slowly vanished as the man came closer.
"Good heavens, what happened to you? Are you alright?"
