[one group of animals that aren't wandering aimlessly around the city are the sea lions; as soon as Lapis had noticed the strange happenings unfolding in the zoo she'd blocked up the enclosure doors with a wall of water impenetrable even to the sea life. with her charges safe she'd almost decided that her work day was over and returned home...but, truth be told, she'd grown rather attached to a great number of the exhibits here at the zoo.
it's easy to spy Lapis among the chaos in the streets, even with the veritable nature documentary of wildlife exploding around her. she's followed by a large mobius loop of water behind her, floating high enough off the ground to prevent it from bumping into less diminutive-sized people. sliding around it in perpetuity are several species of seals (not sea lions, thank you very much) and penguins, kept entertained by intermittent shifting of the course they've been considerately placed upon. she figures it's easier to collect a bunch of them at once this way instead of having to bubbling and transport over and over again.
there are also two mildly indignant penguins tucked under her spindly arms like footballs, squirming to no avail. these two troublemakers have failed to understand the idea of the water semi-prison and repeatedly slipped off the track, and so have been relegated to this unceremonious transport. it's your own fault, dudes.
Lapis is mostly focusing on retrieving the aquarium-based animals in the city, but she makes an exception for obviously dangerous creatures, collaring and muzzling them neatly with more delicate threads of water. it's quite the menagerie she has trailing along after her, but she's completely unaware of any attention it may draw.
what she's painfully aware of, however, is anyone who might be attempting to get violent with any of the animals in a way that doesn't involve self-defense. she's significantly less gentle in using her water to deal with those people.]
heropa;
[Lapis is not actually here because of the floating platform's unfortunate fate. she often frequents Heropa's beach out of nostalgia, and today had seemed like a pretty good day for it - but, apparently, looks can be deceiving.
when the diving suit woman tries to rally the onlookers to action she looks over at a nearby civilian with vague curiosity.]
What's going on?
["the platform is too heavy, so it's starting to sink."]
Oh.
[she seems to consider this for a moment or two, watching the tiny figures out at sea flail in distress. after settling on whatever decision was troubling her mind, she raises an arm and makes a sudden sweeping motion with it, as if she were wiping something away.
in accordance with her gesture, an enormous wave rises up near the floating platform. it hangs there unnaturally for a moment before crashing into the structure, knocking a portion of the young people there into the water.
...someone may want to explain to Lapis that, while logically correct, lightening the load this way probably isn't the path to take on this one.]
