[Once they were out the door and away from the house, Sakuma intended to ease into things as best he could without beating around the bush too much. But then Genda mentioned varying time lines and without ever trying, rendered all his planning for naught.

It takes Sakuma a moment of mental jogging to catch back up, playing connect-the-dots with what little has been said and what little he knows. He's certain this has to do with Kidou. There could be no one else to whom such a concern was pertinent. Which only makes it all the more obvious to Sakuma how little he knows about his best friends' circumstances. They're far from being all on the same page right now. Will that show in the way they play soccer? Will it become a problem in other areas of their lives, as well? Or perhaps...it already has. They came together during the invasion, but they'd been divided first, knowing next to nothing about each other's new strengths or weaknesses.

Sakuma frowns, his attention focused directly ahead of them. Whatever, transpired...maybe that was the reason Kidou and Genda seemed so distant from one another.]

What assumption?

[There's no judgment in Sakuma's tone. He'll save that for someone he knows deserves it. Genda, at least, can be trusted not to deliberately make mistakes, and to want to make up for them whenever he does slip up. He's a good person. He's their teammate and friend. Hearing him out...that's the only course of action here.]
