WHO: Cy and Kara
WHERE: Somewhere in Heropa
WHEN: 6/21; night
WHAT: Cy's hunting and gets caught
WARNINGS: Blood, bunny death, language
Cyril absolutely hated the blood substitute the government had given him. Sure, he tried to stomach it but it was absolutely terrible, even when mixed with other things. It worked when he was too tired or had no luck with a hunt but it wasn't the same as the real stuff or even the fake stuff created back home. Even that tasted better than what he was given here, then again it was created by vampires for vampires and not by humans. Sure he could feed on humans but due to his own personal experiences he hated to feed on the unwilling.
So he took to hunting stray animals, just as he had told Kanaya he would. It was pretty easy to catch them most nights but he found he was never quite satisfied after feeding. He grew hungrier faster and had to either hunt again or force himself to drink that swill he'd been given.
Tonight was one of his hunting nights. He always waited until after dark, usually slipping off to somewhere out of the way, where he wouldn't get caught (or so he hoped). He wasn't having the best luck with anything large tonight. He could only guess that the animals were wising up around the city, before long he'd either have to move further out or try another city to feed. The best he had managed was a rabbit, which squealed and squirmed until he managed to get his fangs in it. Only then did it calm, partially due to his venom and partially due to the shock.

Which is probably how she hears the rabbit squealing, recognizing it from when Rebecca hunts close to the house. Her first thought betrays her by wondering if it might actually be Rebecca who's responsible for some poor rabbit's fate, but she quickly pretends that thought never happened.
Still, it's out of place enough that she goes to investigate, following the source of the sound until she comes upon Cyril and his meal.
"Are you eating a fucking rabbit?" So much judgement in her tone; at least Rebecca only eats rabbits while in fox form.

It takes him a moment to compose himself, face shifting back to normal as his fangs recede. He makes an attempt at getting the blood off his face before raising his head to look at the woman, eyes catching the light like a cat's.
"I, uh... Yes? I mean, no. I... Fuck."
no subject
"Dude, I don't give a shit about whatever you've got going on, but - a rabbit? Have some self respect," It's probably some poor kid's lost pet, for fuck's sake.
no subject
"Maybe I was gonna make stew?" He stared at her for a moment before looking back down at the rabbit. It was barely hanging on but he knew it wouldn't make it. One quick motion and he snapped it's neck before rising to stand with the now dead rabbit held by it's ears. "Or maybe it's a gift for my roommate?" Those sounded like plausible reasons, right?

She idly taps ash from the end of her cigarette and steps a little closer, trying to get a proper view of him without startling him. If it comes to a fight, fine, whatever, but she'd rather avoid it, "I ain't human, you don't have to worry about me getting weird about whatever you're doing with that."
no subject
"Yeah, I know." He hadn't placed who she was yet. He's never been very good at recognizing voices or faces that he wasn't paying a lot of attention to before. But, boy, is he ever paying attention to her now. "No just gotta worry about you getting all judgey, apparently.
no subject
"And you're eating a rabbit raw, I'm allowed to judge. If you're a shifter at least do it in animal form," Basic 'eating small animals' etiquette right there.
no subject
"I wasn't eating it." There was only the puncture wounds from his fangs, not that she could tell from where she stood. "And I'm not a shifter." Okay, yes there was shifting of the face involved when vampires got their feed on but that was just the demonic blood coming to the surface.
no subject
They're one of the more common creatures back home, and one of the most 'popular' with humans, something that Kara's always found a little bit weird. But she doesn't seem worried about the potential he is a vampire; she can take those.
no subject
"Yeah, just not so loud. I don't need people knowing." His gaze went back to the rabbit before he sighed and tossed it aside, somewhere where it wouldn't be so easily found by a person that wasn't digging around but perfect for some other animal to come along and pick at it if it wanted.
"And what are you?"
no subject
As for what she is, "Valkyrie. Why aren't you feeding on people?"
Sure, there are some vampires that refuse to feed on people, but they're few and far between.
no subject
His brows go up when she says what she is. Valkyries are a thing in his world, aside from myth, so he's certainly interested to know more. "That's neat. We don't have your kind back home. At least, I don't think so."
Ah, why wasn't he feeding on people? He shifted his weight from one foot to the other as he rolled his head back to look up at the sky. "That's kind of a long story that will probably bore you and make it sound like I'm trying to throw a pity party."
no subject
"Let's skip it, then," Pity parties are the last thing she cares about, "Is that actually satisfying, or are you a ticking time bomb?"
That's what she cares about, although it doesn't matter so much here, but it's instinct by this point, to make sure one person doesn't fuck it up for the rest of them
no subject
"I drink the fake shit they give us, too." His gaze dropped to his hand, noticing a bit of blood there he raised it to lick it clean.
He was a ticking time bomb though, it didn't matter if he was full or not. If someone was bleeding around him there was always the possibility of him going into a frenzy and potentially killing someone but he was risking it more by not feeding properly.

It's... not necessarily an insult, and it's really just a guess, but it always seems like the younger ones who cling to morals and don't just take what they need. It's not that she wants everyone going around murdering humans, but she doesn't see the point in getting hung up morals when it'll likely cause more harm than good.

This time, when she sighs, it doesn't sound quite so annoyed just resigned for what she's about to do, "Can you feed on other supernatural creatures?"
no subject
He blinked at her, mouth opening just a fraction. Was she offering? It sounded like an offer. "I...uh, yeah. But..." He's not sure if it was the best idea. What would Valkyrie blood even do to him? Some supernaturals' blood burned or had strange effects on vampires, or so he'd been told.
no subject
And why she's pulling a small knife from her boot to cut a line into the back of her arm; once there's enough blood on the knife, she offers it to Cyril, "Try it."
no subject
With a growl he forced himself to not move, plunging his hand into his pocket for the silver chain he had recently taken to carrying with him. Grasping it tightly but not removing his hand form his pocket. There was a soft his of pain as the silver burned his flesh but it was enough for him to regain control.
He released the chain only once he was sure he would be okay then reached out with his shaky uninjured hand to take the knife from her. He carefully licked the blood from the knife, half expecting it to burn him (or something worse) only to find it pleasant. It was similar to human yet obviously different, which he figured he should have expected, all things considered.
"Not bad." An attempt at playing it cool.
no subject
Once he does, she doesn't relax, but she does hold her hand out for the knife, the wound on her arm already fading to nothing more than a thin red line. As soon as the knife is back in her hand, she'll offer her other wrist to him, "If you can't stop yourself, I will."
no subject
His tongue passes over his lips before he takes in a deep breath. He takes her wrist and lowers his head. It takes only a fraction of a moment for his shift to happen when he lets it and then his fangs dig into her arm. He's careful about it, or as careful as he can be, trying not to hit tendons and to be gentle about it. Of course, any pain is momentary unless she happens to immune to the venom that's supposed to make things feel good. The effects vary from person to person, some simply feel relaxed while others can find themselves feeling aroused or anything in between the two states.
The moment her blood fills his mouth he lets out a groan and grabs her wrist a bit more tightly. Just that little bit and he'd already lost himself to his hunger.
no subject
Her focus for the moment is on herself and how the blood less feels, gauging exactly how much she can lose before it'll start to get bad. More than a human can, and it won't take her long to recover, but she'd rather not get to the point where she's so weak she can't handle a fight.
After a little while, she speaks up, "Enough." And if he doesn't stop, he's going to find a hand in his hair yanking his head back and a knee in his gut, but she'll give him a moment to try to pull away himself.
no subject
Her voice cut through the haze but he still found it difficult to pull back, even if he was more full than he'd felt in weeks. He did manage to withdraw his fangs during the time she gave him but he didn't pull back. Instead his tongue worked over the little wounds to close them, even if she could heal quickly it was the polite thing to do.
no subject
"Feel better?"
no subject
After a moment he took a deep breath and slowly stood upright, tongue going after any blood around his mouth as he ran his hands through his hair.
"Much. Thank you." He was already starting to look healthy, living even, thanks to the fresh blood.

Stealing from blood banks is practically a vampire tradition.
no subject
But that didn't change the fact he was against raiding blood banks. That might have been what they did back home before the fake stuff came about but it seemed so very wrong to him.
no subject
Vampires always make such messes.
no subject
He watched her pull out a new cigarette and scowled. Why had he left his smokes at home? Watching her was making him jones.
no subject
"You're seriously gonna have a moral argument about this shit?" Morals are the worst.
no subject
"It's not about morals about... It's just..." He let out a growl and shook his head. "I'm not a fucking thief."
no subject
"So it's a pride thing," That's almost as bad as it being a morality thing.

Feeding off Chilton had been a necessity at the moment, he hadn't been on the verge of starving he'd just lost too much blood. Any other time he didn't feel like he needed human blood to keep healthy. But after feeding on Kara, even if she wasn't human, he knew how wrong he was but he couldn't admit it. So, yes, it was a pride thing but he wasn't about to admit that either.

"I, uh, guess that would work." He still didn't like the idea of stealing but if it couldn't be used there was no point it being thrown away. Maybe he could mesmer some nurses or doctors or whoever into helping him out.
no subject
And it seems like this guy's been left to figure shit out on his own.

Kara not every world is like yours, stop being judgmental.
