WHO: Barnaby Brooks Jr., Kotetsu T. Kaburagi
WHERE: Barnaby's apartment in Heropa
WHEN: The night of Feb. 10 after the swear-in
WHAT: Awkwardness ensues after Barnaby leaves Kotetsu a not-so-anonymous-after-all compliment at the swear-in.
WARNINGS: Two idiots.
All things considered, the swear-in had been successful with the festivities running smoothly, save for a small incident that was taken care of in short order. On any other day, Barnaby would either be sharing a drink with Kotetsu or winding down for the night. This evening, though, his hands are dry from soap suds and an hour of washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen and scrubbing out the bathroom. The communicator is somewhere in his room, out of sight and out of mind.
Inevitably, though, the counters become immaculate and the dishes are stacked neatly in his cabinet. Alone with his thoughts, Barnaby furrows his eyebrows and smothers his pale hands with lotion. He accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. Somehow, it isn't enough.
I should go on a patrol. The swear-in may be over, but that doesn't mean the streets are always safe. Never mind the fact his communicator is still sitting on his bed. Never mind the fact he intends to go alone. The fresh air will do him some good, though, and he can be productive at the same time. Barnaby is, after all, nothing if not efficient.
Decision made, he strides over to the door and turns the knob, just in time to find someone standing on the other side...
