These are a few of my favourite things

WARNINGS: None? Aside from spoilers for Zestiria if anyone is still mindful of that.



[There's something to be said for adjusting to the cooler weather. But it's almost soothing and cozy, with the prospect of a hot drink and curling up with Mikleo for the evening. Sorey couldn't ask for more, really. The only thing that could make this better is if the others were here. But they're making do and managing, the both of them.

Which, being together, let alone in a whole new world like this, to ring in the New Year together, is quite something. It may be a quieter affair, but that's fine with him. So long as he has Mikleo at his side. Especially given events back home. Otherwise there would be many celebrations he misses out on while asleep, while helping purify Maotelus and the land. But that is just why he intends to make the most of this. Their time together in the day to day, holidays, all of it.]

Almost time. Did you want a hot drink?

[ Mikleo is rather grateful, as well. He's glad that he can spend today with Sorey - as much as he wishes for him to go home to their friends. Just the same, he's glad that he could be hear to celebrate New Years Even with Sorey like this - that he could be here with him.

He offers a small smile at the offer. ]

I can make it. Wait here. [ He pushes himself up from where he was sitting, gesturing for Sorey to sit in his place. ]

[historiology]

Ah, you sure? I can help....

[But he won't protest if Mikleo wants to make it. He knows the seraph seems to enjoy helping keep Sorey somewhat fed and all anyway, given the ice cream habit for a start. So he'll sit back down at the couch in the lounge, simply turning to look over to the kitchen where Mikleo would be making the drinks.]

I want marshmallows. Do we still have some left?

[circulets]

[ Mikleo looks to their already near-empty bag of marshmellows, blinking a little before calling out to Sorey. ]

Two left. One for me, one for you?

[ Or he could just give Sorey both marshmellows. He wouldn't mind either way. ]

[historiology]

Okay. One each. We'll just have to get more tomorrow then.

[If that's the last two left. He shifts, going to write it down on the shopping list so they don't forget on their next trip out to get groceries together.]

There. Now we won't forget.

[He's not going to intrude in the kitchen itself though. He would probably just get in the way and hot chocolate isn't difficult that Mikleo needs a hand, he knows.]

We can go shopping tomorrow.

[ He starts heating up the two cups with ease - letting the milk become warmer before he decides it may be warm enough. It's then he sets in the hot chocolate - stirring it with ease and then sets in the marshmellow.

Followed by giving the finished product to Sorey. It.... Well, hopefully it tastes alright. ]

Yeah, tomorrow works. Thanks!

[It's not hard, to make a hot drink, at least. Warming the milk and then adding the cocoa mix to it. Still, Sorey can't help but smile as he reaches for it, feeling the warmth of the mug itself against his skin of his hands before taking a sip. His eyes close as he savors it, giving an appreciative noise.]

This is nice.

I'm glad.

[ Mikleo can't help but smile when Sorey says that it came out well. Truthfully, that's all he needed to hear. He's never been all that good at making anything hot to eat or drink, so-- perhaps this is a sign of improvement. ]

It'll be a while before it becomes warmer. I can make more later on.

Once we get more marshmallows. I can help too.

[It's something so simple, but amazing in how much cheer and comfort it brings, having a hot drink when the weather isn't the best outside. It almost makes him want to curl up with a book and enjoy it all the more.]

Still. Almost another year. What do you want to do for it? I was thinking since I'm gonna finish school, there's those archaeology classes at college.

Archaeology class? That's impressive. [ Unsurprising, but impressive all the same. ]

I was thinking about practicing writing while you study in college.

[historiology]

I-- I think I can handle a drink?

[Or fail at it. Sorey is rather known for his lack of cooking skills in spite of being able to hunt and thus at least somewhat fend for himself. Kind of.

He takes another sip, considering what Mikleo wants to do.]

Writing, huh? I guess it would be neat. To write about all the ruins and stuff we found. Or ones we find here! Like that, you mean?

[He could well actually be missing the obvious thing to write about here. More than just the ruins they found on their adventures, but everything else too.]

Everything we've seen, learned, will see...

[ His voice trails off, a fond smile spreading on his features at the thought of it. Well, Sorey would be included in it, definitely. But, he didn't need to know that right now. Not yet. ]

We've made quite a number of plans.

[historiology]

Everything? That's gonna be a long book then!

[Okay, he's kind of joking there, but he knows Mikleo must be serious and have given this some thought before telling him. He'll offer to help with reminders or anything if Mikleo needs it.]

Maybe we need a list.....

A long book, or several volumes.

[ He's thought about this a lot, indeed. It's a dream of his, and one that's only progressively growing. ]

A list isn't a bad idea. One for here, one for home?

[historiology]

Or like --yeah, like a series! That'd be really cool! You could write more in detail that way too.....

[He's almost distracted by this talk, but not so much he forgets about the warm mug in his hands, which he then takes another sip from. Still naturally oblivious as to Mikleo's intentions to include him in this. A lot.]

Hm. Both? We could make a list for things we want to do here, and another one for when we get back!

Make two lists and compare and contrast? I'm game.

[ Might as well. They should enjoy their time here as much as they could. It's... not every day that you get to go to another world entirely. He takes another sip of his own hot chocolate before setting the mug back down. ]

We could do it tomorrow. ... After you study, anyways.

[historiology]

I mean, I guess some stuff on them might be the same, like seeing more ruins. But still. The ones here are sure to be different than what we grew up exploring or that we found later after leaving Elysia.

[Of course that is one priority for Sorey. Which is likely hardly a surprise. Sorey takes another sip, though not as big a one as before. Interrupted as he is by Mikleo's mention of study.]

If Rose were here I'd leave the maths stuff to her. She's good at that sort of thing. But I already read through my history books for class.

Considering the history and likely different reasons for building them in the first place, I'd say that that's likely.

[ Mikleo wants to see them too, of course. It's a shared passion between them. ]

She is a business woman, through and through. But, you'll just have to make due with what you have. If anything, at least, I can help you.

[historiology]

Like those pyramids. They used them as tombs or something, I think I read the other day. But that's over in Egypt....

[Still. He does want to go see them sometime, if possible. Regardless, he seems content for now, downing more of his drink and finishing it, putting it in the sink and rinsing it out with some water from the tap as he laughs.]

No kidding. She is. Still, I won't say no if you're up for helping. I'm doing okay from history and some of the other classes, but not so much maths.

Another country or not, it's not impossible for us to go visit whenever we want.

[ It still feels nearly impossible to think about... They can leave whenever they want: go to another country, travel the world. It was a dream that they intended to somehow fulfill at home, but... ]

I'll help you out, then. I'd say I learned a thing or two from the library about various school subjects here, anyways.

Not impossible. I'm pretty sure with us being registered, we can go. At least for a couple of days or something, if we let them know we're heading there? I can check, and plan stuff through work at least.

[The perks of planning vacations for everyone else, basically. It gives Sorey something of a starting point at least, with this. To potentially look into it more as a possibility.]

You're the best, Mikleo! [He may just be turning now and going for a hug. Talking of seeing things like the pyramids together, helping him with school as he finishes off.]

Might as well make it a goal. They do say that New Years is the time for that.

[ Well, just a suggestion. It'd be nice, he'd admit. If they can't explore ruins at home, they might as well here. ]

Speaking of, it'll be midnight soon.

Oh, those...what was it, 'resolutions', right? Yeah! We can totally make it a resolution!

[It seems a much tamer, easily achieved goal in comparison to the situation back home, before Sorey defeated Heldalf. But that's part of the relief of being here now. Together, without that threat, without Malevolence. The ruins may not quite be the same, but he has no doubt they would still be amazing and worth seeing regardless.]

Hey, it is! Five more minutes. Not long now!

That's right. Well, you've got five minutes to think of anything else you want to do.

[ It's a light, near dry joke. However, Mikleo's sense of humor has... always been just that. ]

[historiology]

Have ice cream?

[That probably doesn't actually count as much of a resolution when Mikleo makes so much anyway. But it's the first thing that comes to mind anyway off the top of his head at Mikleo's comment and teasing.]

Or a hug!

[Again, not really anything they haven't already done before.]
