alcheregis: (with orient incense lit by the new ray)

Untroubled by the perception of scandal, Haen -- Madame Hithiel, as she normally went by -- was a elegant, sharply dressed lady cutting a distinctive figure in the crowd. She was a businesswoman, another thing that raised eyebrows in polite company, but one who dealt in people. Not in the slavery sense, nor even in the courtesan flavour (although that was a frequent misconception that she occasionally let run rampant, when the illusion suited her needs). But no, Haen specialized in grooming people to be other people. In some cases, that was as simple as job training, all the way to the extreme of allowing people to slide into a completely alternate life. There were more than a few people who'd gone to her to get out of questionable situations in their lives, and simply stopped existing.

In the club, she's been moving smoothly between various groups of people and generally hobnobbing with people who might one day take up her services, one hand curled loosely around modestly-filled tumbler. It was a heavyset man determined to push his way through a group of people in front of her, that caused Haen to have to step back and bump into Mako.

"Oh, it wasn't a fault of yours, dear," Haen sighed, fixing a pointed glare at the man's back, and making a mental note to settle the tip of her cane down on top of his foot when the opportunity arose.
