KICKING THE BOYS OUT

The thing about preparing surprise parties...is that it has to be done in secret. Which is very difficult when the two birthday boys are Naminé’s roommates, are always popping in and out of the house during the day, and who have especially been so kind as to keep tabs on her while she’s slowly healing. It’s going to take something very subtle to get them out. Something so normal and every day that they can’t help but go out and do it for her, especially when she’s an invalid. Something that will get the both of them out, and back at the same time.

"Can you pick up this canvas for me?"

She’s peeking out from behind the catalogue to make herself look cuter during her request, because she knows it’ll at least work on Kagami. The canvas she’s requesting? Is from all the way at a supply store in Nonah, which means they’ll have to take the Porters instead of just using corridors-- and it’s also very big. A foot taller than Riku, and according to her calculations, just a few inches shy of not getting through the front door. It’s unwieldy enough that both of them will need to go, and the perfect excuse. Hopefully. Is doing this the day of going to be suspicious…?

"I didn’t realize it was on sale, and today’s the last day..." And she clearly can’t get it on her own, her little pout says. “Please? I’ll have lunch ready for you when you get back."

When they leave, she sees them off at the door, waving farewell with a smile-- and once she senses that they’ve left Heropa, she taps out a message to all their friends lingering in the nearby vicinity.

All clear! ^ u ^ Let’s get to Megazone!

WAR OF THE LASERS!

Sora wanted me to get out of the house.

He took me to a place called Megazone?

But it’s a little noisy. Can you come pick me up? ; _ ;

Megazone was the name of the building everyone will find themselves invited to. It was a simple enough location that was clearly closed off. From the sign, alone, it was difficult to determine what could be inside until they enter the building, where they will find an amazing sight: a very decorated room filled with balloons, flower decorations, tables filled with an assortment of food, and best of all laser tagging equipment. It was clear that the party was made with a purpose: to celebrate a birthday.

In the center of the room will be the many rows of tables filled with food and decorations that some were bought and others were handmade. The party favors in particular were filled with simple items for the guests to take home.

At the left side of the room, there will be a few rows filled with all types of arcade games. Ranging from racing, dancing, fighting, shooters, and even the classic whack-a-mole. While there will be some virtual type of rides with all kinds of different settings and scenarios to enjoy from. Most of them were clearly for two players to participate in. All used for guests waiting to use the laser tag arena or for those who prefer a more relaxed environment.

While at the other side of the room, there will be a special entrance marking the waiting room for the laser tag arena to be in. Taking a very futuristic theme to it, the doors will open once the earlier games end, where a group of eight are allowed inside. Everyone is require to watch a safety video and explanation of the rules (everyone has five chances of remaining in the game) while being given the gear needed to play. An additional item of a headset will be given, where Nike will use it to keep the peace between everyone, she’ll let everyone know if someone cheats or misbehaves (by trying to destroy the area, for example), then she will put them into a dreamless sleep. Don’t incite her wrath or she might just pull an awful prank later.

After the doors to the arena open, everyone will be given less than a minute to spread out in the dark labyrinth. The moment the game begins is when the fluorescent lights -- of the players and arena alike -- will come to life. The arena will change themes, from space to a more kaleidoscope of colors. As the game progresses with players being defeated, the arena will begin to change from darkness to light, with the walls taking a more gray building look. It gets worse as other areas of the maze begin to open such as the second floor and even basement tunnels. All used to confuse the inexperienced players. The game won’t end until a winner is found or the referee in charge gives their final verdict whichever the case may be. Careful though. The referee won’t be seen throughout the game; however if they catch anyone cheating expect a perfect bullseye to hit your characters. Eye for an eye; unfair shooting for a fair one.

ONE YEAR OLDER AND WISER...PROBABLY

Whether or not the boys want to open their presents in front of everyone or at home is left up to them, but the present table is labelled with a cute drawing, and there near the Megazone entrance for people to drop things off.

Eventually, once she and the Megazone staff have finished prepping it, Naminé proudly emerges from the kitchen wheeling out a service cart, a modest blue cake set in the middle. No candles, because that would ruin the star design, but she has two cupcakes with one candle in them each for wish-making purposes, as well as two knives so the birthday boys can cut the main cake at the same time.

"We’ll have to serve it quickly," is all she mentions with a bright smile, before turning and encouraging people to start singing. On point or off-key, however, is left to be seen.

The meaning behind her comment is clear once the cake is actually cut open, revealing soft ice cream just as blue as the outer fondant. Yup, it’s a sea salt ice cream cake! The Megazone staff takes over the cake cutting soon after, so that everyone is ensured a slice. There might be seconds. And it also might be melting fast enough by the time everyone has finished their first slice that it’s the perfect consistency to throw at someone...
