I am flesh and I am bone; rise up, ting ting, like glitter and gold

WHO: Aurican and YOU dummy!
WHERE: Largely Heropa; Maurita Falls Apartment 004; but fill free to put in your own prompt and location
WHEN: All of August
WHAT: Aurican learns to read and the rest of the world.
WARNINGS: nothing for now; will change if something happens.

CLOSED; Kang's apartment at Heropa

Aurican looks forward to each and every lesson. One lesson might be more difficult, but Aurican relishes the challenge. He has mastered the alphabet and small words, but now it goes to more difficult sentence structures and vocabulary. (His particular favorite is compound words; finding them and learning them makes them more like a puzzle to be solved.)

In Kang's spacious apartment (in Aurican's opinion), they sit in the table covered by papers and books. He looks at his own notebook, large and uneven letters scrawled across the lined paper.

"I've been thinking . . . I think I'm ready to go to school. For certain now."

OPEN; Heropa; around the imPort Housing

Aurican often comes to Kang for writing/reading lessons. After the lessons are concluded, Aurican will linger, looking at the lowering sun and determined this is the time where many will be coming back from their occupations and education.

Dressed in his typical wear - a white buttoned shirt and white shorts with yellow trimmings - Aurican wanders around, curious about more imPorts. He hasn't fully understand customs here, but there's no problem in saying hello to them, yes? So he walks around the neighborhood, idly playing on the cracks on the sidewalks.

OPEN; Heropa; in the woods

When he's not learning how to read and learning how to speak well for his occupation, Aurican takes his time in the heated woods of Florida to learn how to hunt. Maurita Falls is a city that is for the cynical and opportunists, he find, and there are many residents who dislike imPorts. Heropa, on the other hand, seem to be perfectly accepting of imPorts, for the most part. (Aurican finds De Chima residents to be overwhelming, there's only so much cooing from older females he can take.)

So, in part, he prefers the woods outside Heropa's city limits, where he learns how to hunt game that are larger than bats - rabbits, feral hogs, deer . . .

There, near a clearing, your character might see a glint of bright gold as he slowly wades through the tall grass. Further out, there is a hog, idly digging away at some roots.

OPEN; Maurita Falls; Apartment 004

In all honesty, Aurican is starting to dislike Maurita Falls. There's a great deal of disdain and scorn and apathy in the city; it's like being surrounded by Blayzes, but without his charming wit or cleverness. However, he doesn't mind his housemates. It's a little like having nestmates, and he doesn't want to leave that behind just yet.

He comes inside after being caught a dreary storm, shaking water out of his golden locks. He goes into his room for dry clothes and comes out, looking for the television set in the room, already seeing it being in use. He doesn't recognize the program his housemate is watching.

"What's this?"

Aurican's lessons have been going very well, just as Kang has expected. Golds are the most intellectual of the metallic dragons, after all, and this particular one is, technically, a demigod.

He pauses, looking up from the grammar worksheets he'd found on a homeschooling website, "If you're certain, I can start that process tomorrow. It may take a few weeks, but with as quickly as you learn, you'll catch up to the other younglings in no time."

He's already looked into what it would take to enroll a child in a public school, and his life is about get even more interesting.

"That is the question," he carefully kept his expression neutral. "And, it brings up something I need to discuss with you. In order to get you enrolled, you need a legal guardian, regardless of whether or not you are an imPort. I'm willing to be that guardian, if you are alright with it. Or, if you would prefer someone else..."

A part of Kang was actually glad for how quickly Aurican had responded, to his surprise.

"Yes, it does. It's up to you if you want to move to Heropa or stay in Maurtia Falls - you aren't required to stay with me. If you do choose Heropa, though, you would be welcome here."

"And what do you think of Heropa so far?"
governorkang: (Looking up)

He nodded. "I prefer smaller cities, too. Even Heropa is larger than my home."

"Would you like to look around at some of the schools here? I can take a few days off of work to make sure to find one you like."

"Hopefully, then, we'll get everything settled by the end of the week."

"I think that'll do for your lesson today. Your grammar's very much improved - I want you to keep practicing with the worksheets, and next lesson, we'll start on..." Kang paused to check his notes. "Homonyms. Those can be tricky, but I'm certain you'll have very little problems."

He never rushed Aurican out, giving him the option of staying longer if he wanted to, whether it be in companionable silence as they each worked on their studies or answering questions about Krynn or life on Earth.
