all virgos are extremely friendly and intelligent
WHO: Julian Day & Kanaya Maryam
WHERE: Prison, De Chima
WHEN: August 5th
WHAT: Julian's parole officer is picking him up
WARNINGS: Calendar Man is a stalker
[ Julian was handed his belongings, which wasn't much due to having not much left on him at the time of his arrest, and even his clothes had been confiscated due to them having been evidence of a theft. They gave him a cheap t-shirt and track pants, had him sign forms, reminded him that he'd still be without powers for the duration of his parole, and told him that his parole officer would come pick him up at the entrance to the facility.
Now he waits, not quite leaning against chain link fence, taking the time to scroll through the network on his comm. New month means new arrivals. They hadn't mentioned the name of the parole officer to him, and if they had he wouldn't be so calm.
As is, he's preparing himself for another scheduled round of "oh no, I'm very regretful, really".]

She doesn't say a word, instead letting him draw the correct conclusions on his own. Whatever his faults, Julian isn't a stupid man, at least not an unintelligent one. But she does give him a cold, appraising smile that could almost be described as devious. ]

Julian feels like he should be surprised. He hadn't been expecting her. But in a strange way it is fitting. She arrested them this time, she would see this through. And it's not the first time she came to pick him up like this. Though there was a role reversal last time.
He still sometimes remembers her sheer presence. A month ago she showed glimmers of becoming a person.
But that doesn't erase the fact that he's mad at her. There are so many ways she could have done it, and dragging him away by the ear was going too far. Of all the humiliating experiences in his life, which were too many, that was one of the worst.
His almost-affectionate if creepy uncle act is gone. Replaced by a cool look and cold tone. ]
Ms. Maryam.

Don't tell me you're still sore about the arrest. Imagine how the museum must feel.
[ She checks something off on her pad. ] So, we both know you've been through this process already, and numerous others before it. Needless to say, whatever the system is trying to do with you hasn't worked.
Given the length of our acquaintance, I thought it was well past time I saw your experience with the process firsthand.
[ And possibly try to make it so repugnant that he won't want to do it again, but she's not saying that. Yet. ]

And he fully intends to. But how easily she dismisses the embarrassment she caused him gets under the skin.
He picks at his lip. ]
Look at you. All grown up and organized. Acting like an adult, despite your years.

Well, one of us needs to. And as you've shown yourself consistently incapable of it, I think it's time someone didn't take that for granted. I'll make you one promise about this, Julian.
If you're going to act like a child, then I will treat you like one. Don't think for even a moment that I will hesitate to bend you over my knee in public.
[ Is she bluffing? Who knows, but precedent would indicate that she isn't. ]

[ He sniffs. When Kanaya gets like this, she is at her most frustrating. His mouth twists. ]
Unlike the last time we were in the situation, you are my parole officer. Not a pseudo-parent.

That's merely an opinion, and one I happen to disagree with. For the next two months, you might as well consider me your helicopter mom. And I will put you in the corner if you misbehave.
