WHO: Fuu Hououji and you
WHERE: Heropa & Nonah
WHEN: Throughout August
WHAT: Fuu is out and about in the summer!
WARNINGS: None.
Heropa and Nonah, out'n'about
[In the run-up to the school year starting again, Fuu wants to get in as much of her actual job as she can... that is, writing video game reviews for a man who takes editing a teen entertainment magazine way more seriously than any one person possibly should.
So she's wandering around the arcades (the lovely air-conditioned arcades) and outside; if you're at a game or playing a game or if you're even concentrating on your phone a little too hard, you might find her looking over your shoulder.]
At the beach
[August is a time for swimming! Or, if you're Fuu, finding some less crowded areas of Florida beach to do a little magic practice. Today she's seeing how much sand she can pick up with her Binding Winds spell and how fine a blade she can shape with her Emerald Typhoon. Though keeping in mind the setting, she keeps it more to an Emerald Light Breeze.
She notices that even modest displays of magic seem to be clearing the beach more than they ought, and sighs at the suspicious looks being aimed at her. This hadn't happened in June.]
Oh dear. It seems I'm still being viewed as a witch.
It's not easy being green (St. Walker)
[Well, it's been a couple of months now since that incident where people were living out altered lives. That's long enough for it not to be so awkward anymore, right?
So she'll head over to Walker's house and ring the doorbell--she's got a few treats that the woman at the animal rehab place told her would suit an opossum, and for Walker himself, some tea.Earl Grey. Hot.
???
[Got another idea or want one? Drop me a line!]

At Nike's barrage of questions, Fuu laughs and cups her cheek in one hand, a little self-conscious.]
Goodness, if I had Guru Clef here, I would be able to answer better--I was a visitor to Cephiro, and it wasn't so long ago. But since everything in Cephiro is governed by the heart, my surmise is that anyone who wishes to learn magic is able to do so. It does take work, too. The first time my friend Hikaru cast a spell, she almost fell over, but she grew stronger with practice. And when Guru Clef gave us the potential, we still needed his help to unlock it so we could actually use it.
[She remembers that moment, hearing his voice in her heart: Your compassion is your source.]
Now, if I may ask: I am from Japan, yes! Who did you meet from there?
[other Japanese kids going to different worlds? she is ALL THE INTERESTED.]
no subject
Is Hikaru one of your elemental friends? It sounds like she may have had a lot of untapped potential if she almost fell over at her first try casting. [A weak chuckle may escape, realizing she could be wrong to assume.] That is, if that's normal in your world to be like. To have very strong powers and all. Is Guru Clef the leader of Cephiro? He sounds like one... [More assumptions based on comparing her own rain and wind summoning teacher having been her grandmother, who was once queen of her country.]
Sure. It's only fair to ask me questions after barraging you with my own. [A light laugh.] I only know two friends who are Japanese. Do you know someone named Yuu or Sasaki?
no subject
[Have her cheeks gone a little pink at the mention of the prince? Maybe. MOVING ON.]
Yuu and Sasaki... I'm afraid I don't recognize those names, no. [Not that they're particularly uncommon, but Fuu doesn't happen to have either one among her acquaintance.] Did they say what part of Japan they're from--Tokyo, or some other area?
sorry for the super late reply! D:
[There will be a moment of silence as Nike remembers back on her conversation with both.]
I think I know more about Yuu than Sasaki's version of that particular place. Yuu once said he was over at a place known as Shinjuku...? There's one other name he said once before. I don't think it was Tokyo though. [With a weak smile, she'll wonder.] Are you from there? Tokyo?
No worries!
[in an incredibly literal sense.]
Ah! Shinjuku is actually a district within the city of Tokyo. I don't live in Shinjuku myself, but I do live in Tokyo with my family. [a pause.] Did your friends mention anything about Tokyo Tower...?
no subject
[She's trying to get a sense of the world she was talking about even if technically they are suppose to be speaking of a sole kingdom than the entire world unlike in her world.]
No, it doesn't sound familiar. Is the tower important to your country? All I know is that Yuu's version of Japan is currently in a war against vampires though. It isn't the case for you, right?
no subject
[the stellar geography of Cephiro, Chizeta, Autozam and Fahren is something best not contemplated.]
Oh, it's just a landmark in the city, but it's where we fell into the other world... [she cups her cheek in one hand.] And I have to say, we don't have a lot of supernatural events at home. I've certainly never seen any vampires.
[TOTALLY NONCHALANT.]
no subject
[Japan was beginning to sound as interesting as Cephiro. From the little she has heard about it, the culture feels diligent for some reason.]
I see. Your world and the one Cephiro is from are connected through the tower. That's a little odd. I've never heard of anything like that before. It's almost like the way the Porter works except it brings you over without warning. [A weak smile will appear at the mention of lacking supernatural event. She totally believes her. Sort of.] Other than the worldly travel tower, you mean? It's good to hear you haven't met a vampire though. Yuu has told me how awful they are. They're scary beings that bully the weak all because they're six times stronger than everyone. Don't you find it entirely unbelievable of them!? [Not that that is the full reason, but it is enough to have her feel outraged by it.]
no subject
It is an astounding place. I feel so lucky that I was brought there. [And that's true even with the horror she was involved with.
As for Tokyo Tower, well... at first she had thought it coincidence, but she can't deny that there's a connection. Fuu has to restrain a smile when Nike starts ranting about the vampires, though. Not that what vampires do is funny. It's just the way she words it.]
You're right, that's a completely unacceptable way to behave. [though... not unbelievable.] There are stories about them on my world, that they use humans as prey--and they move at night. Is that the reality? Because the stories can be quite frightening.
no subject
I didn't know vampires are expected to be active at night. Yuu makes it sound as though they can easily travel around at any given moment. In his world, there is a war going on between the two species. By the little I know, it feels as though the vampires started it while the humans are simply defending themselves. He made other mentions of stuff, but...
[As she thought about it, she didn't know if she should talk about it as there was so much he was willing to trust her with, but she did know he was searching for information about them. Right now, it feels like Fuu has an idea about them. She recognizes them as monsters.]
Hey, Fuu? I have a question about your version of Japan. Is it normal for the military to recruit teenagers to join their ranks as soldiers?
no subject
[She grows even more sober at Nike's question. Is that what the government is doing? Can they be that desperate? Or are they simply being convenient, like here?]
No. It's not normal and it's not legal. You're allowed to join when you're an adult under the law--age eighteen. [Technically, that is a teenage year. But that's also you gain rights in society.] Is that what's happening in his Japan?
no subject
[Her explanation over the way things are in her version of Japan will leave her silent. She had a feeling it was the case. Eighteen was a good age for someone to begin their vocation as a soldier, she thinks.]
Yeah. Yuu is part of the army of his world. A special vampire unit, if I remember correctly. I know he's thinking about wanting to become an official soldier of this world once he reaches that age too. He says, it's all he knows. It worries me a little that he doesn't try to spread his wings a bit, you know...
no subject
[She sighs.]
If that's the world he's from, I can understand why he would want to remain with the army, but I'm inclined to agree with you. Youth is so fleeting, and he should be able to do more with it than risk his life.
no subject
[A soft nod.]
Exactly. That's the very same lesson I would like to teach him. For him to take advantage of this moment to live a more peaceful and fun filled life. One where he can be a kid. I just feel he doesn't really understand that. I don't think he has many friends or given that chance. [Then she wonders.] ...hey, Fuu. Would you mind if I ask you for a favor?
sorry for the late tag!!
I'm not sure--but if I ever meet a vampire in person, I'll ask. Once I've stopped him from trying to feed on me.
[She nods to Nike's second question. That's sad, thinking of someone her age feeling so limited, limited in such a harsh life. If she was Nike, she would want to help him with that too.]
Sure. What is it?
np! i need to apologize twice as much in return. orz
[A small smile will appear on her lips as she decides to ask Fuu for this tiny favor. It was a good favor. One that she doubts neither of them would mind her meddling in a tiny bit.]
Do you mind helping me out by befriending Yuu and showing him there is more to life than living the military way? I don't know much about this timeline. It's really different to mine, and I have never heard of a place known as Japan until arriving here. You two seem to be around the same age and point of time and location. Maybe he'll appreciate meeting a fellow Japanese person too. Even if it is from a different version of Earth. You can trade notes...?
