➊ BAD HABITS NEVER DIE | downtown heropa
[ When Sasha had woken up early that morning she had felt strangely displaced, even in the room she had been forced to grow accustomed to over the two years she had been trapped in this world. It left her feeling a little bit irritable at first, so she rolled out of bed for breakfast, thinking all she needed was food to rid herself of this feeling.
But as the day goes on, that feeling seems to worsen, and it certainly isn't aided when her purse is stolen from right under her nose while out in public. It contained her wallet and keys, too, so she's left feeling stranded in the middle of downtown without any transit fare or money for food. The timing couldn't be more inconvenient, because it's hot out and she's thirsty and hungry. Despite living in Heropa for quite some time now, this level of humidity is still something she hasn't acclimated to, even when down to a tank top and shorts. She's got a sunhat on to keep the intensity of the sun out of her eyes and head, but without a decent breeze she's sweating up a storm.
Well, the good thing, as it finally occurs to her, is she's in the middle of downtown surrounded by people who've most definitely got wallets and food and/or drinks they aren't keeping an eye on. These people probably watched as her purse was stolen and did nothing to stop it, so they had it coming. Karma, right?
And Sasha knows how to weave in and out of these crowds mostly undetected, nimble fingers plucking wallets and anything else that might come in handy from people's bags and pockets. Maybe she goes for an imPort's bag without realizing who it is, or maybe she plain doesn't care if she does. ]
➋ TOO HOT (HOT DAMN) | the mall
[ She feels as if her skin might melt right off her bones at this point. She could teleport straight back to her apartment, but that would require using those powers and the idea makes her a bit uncomfortable at the moment. To think she's possibly become something else in her time here, possibly lost the part of her that made her like those in her village and her ancestors, kind of sickens her. She never asked for this and it certainly isn't fair these people expect her to adhere to whatever their expectations of imPorts are. All she wants is to live her life in peace, quiet and safety, is that too much to ask for?
While heading somewhere that draws people is the exact opposite of that, it does mean there's air conditioning, so Sasha eventually finds her way into the building, although she doesn't go any further tahn its entrance, plopping down on the side so she can relax her legs and enjoy the cool air for a few minutes. Once she's cooled off she'll head back home or to Will and April's house, she thinks. Ten minutes or so and she'll be okay.
Never mind her feet are probably in someone's way and likely to trip them. ]
➌ HOME IS NOT A PLACE | casa ludgate-graham
[ After a couple of long days that seem to have stretched on longer than normal, Sasha is almost ready to disappear into the nearby forest and camp out there until she's feeling more inclined to be among large crowds again. She had forgotten how suffocating Heropa could feel at times; the noises, the crowds, the strange culture she still doesn't fully understand after two years, the technology (as useful as so much of it is)... it's all different and makes her feel more and more of an outsider.
She's actually about to teleport herself to the edge of the city, but another place comes to mind and convinces her to go there instead. About a minute later, Sasha appears on the grass just outside Will and April's house, some of those jitters subsiding the second she lands her eyes on the building. It's not home and never will be, but Will and April surprisingly have been decent company since she's met them. They don't make her feel like she has to be on guard often, though she is still curious as to why they've always been so nice to her in the first place.
At least they don't lecture her about all the food she eats while she's there. She's pretty hungry again, so it doesn't take her long to step inside the house, heading straight into the kitchen and grabbing a couple of bagels she finds. She breaks off the pieces messily, shoving them into her mouth greedily. ]
➍ YOU CAN TAKE THE GIRL OUT OF THE... | the forest
[ While not the forest she's familiar with, the smell of dirt and leaves, the cool shade the trees towering above offer and the serenity of the area brings her some comfort. She's done setting up a basic trap for a rabbit that might stumble across the area, but she's also brought along her bow and arrow to take down larger prey, like deer.
She knows it's "illegal", but honestly, who's going to catch her way out here? Who's going to miss one deer? Being able to hunt freely is almost healing; she's not doing anything immoral by doing something humans have been doing for thousands of years. Maybe they don't hunt the same way in this world anymore, but she knows in some places they do. Besides, there's a thrill that comes with successfully hunting down prey you've been tracking for a while, your hard efforts rewarded in the end.
Careful where you step if you're out here. An arrow might whiz by and pierce the bark of the tree next to you, or you might be unfortunate enough to step into one of those traps that might hurt the foot for a moment. ]
