"Oh, hey, we spoke when I got here," is the reply she offers him, observing him carefully. "Goes to show how little textual communication really carries over." Her impression of the man in that conversation hadn't been that pleasant, but it hadn't held for too long. Kate had other things to worry about, so while she recalled it perfectly, it wasn't something that she put on a list of priorities.
