Here comes the sun
WHO: Dick and Jane
WHERE: Washington DC
WHEN: Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 November
WHAT: Gansey and Blue disappear for a trip together. It's not a date, no one look at them.
WARNINGS: Raging feminism and nerdiness. To Gansey's neverending woe, this will be SFW.
[ Blue had never seen DC. Gansey had known that before they'd ever come here, and in all fairness, bringing her here doesn't quite have the same impact as bringing her to the version in their own world. That would had involved taking her to the place he grew up, and introducing her to his parents, which would have had a certain added anxiety that he would rather not quantify. It would also have meant opening him up to Helen's scrutiny, since he had of course never brought a girl to DC, and how old is she, and who are her family, and where does she live, etcetera ad infinitum.
On balance, maybe it's a good thing it's not their world's version. At least here, they can enjoy the sights without the burden of the Gansey family. (Christ, he misses them, though. If he were with them right now, he'd be wishing he was elsewhere, but now that he's elsewhere, he'd give anything to lose himself in Dick Gansey II's car collection, or face off against Helen's wit, or have his mother check his tie was on straight.)
None of that. They go onward and upward, as always. Gansey's concentration is firmly on the day ahead of them. Their hotel is decent without being opulent, which is the best he'd been able to secure on short notice. They have separate rooms, of course, and Gansey is dutifully waiting outside of Blue's now. They're going to the White House, which he actually had managed to secure on short notice, thanks in no small part to his powers. He's feeling good about that, feeling accomplished. Feeling like she'll be pleased. God, he hopes she's pleased.
A tie will not be required today, but Gansey still looks good. At least, in his own opinion; anyone who thinks poorly of Topsiders or aquamarine polo shirts might disagree, but he feels confident. Quietly so. His knock on Blue's door is gentle, and he does his best to keep his anticipation swirling under the surface. He has the whole weekend with her. The whole weekend. He clears his throat. ]
Jane? Are you ready to go? We can't really be late for this.
[ Onward and up. He can't actually wait. ]

A little less sad that way, and a lot more interesting.
Eventually, Blue opened the door from her hotel room and stopped in the door way. She cast a glance at Gansey. Then at herself.
She wasn't the best dressed. That was evident by... her clothes. What did she own that she hadn't torn or diyed to the brightest ends of the earth? Gansey always looks like he just stepped out of a some magazine that catered to rich boys. She didn't even know the names of magazines like that. Meanwhile she stood in her lamp-like dress with black, floral stockings, boots that bordered on too grunge, and a jean jacket.
She frowned. ]
Are they going to let me in like this? [ She gestured to... her whole attire. ]
