There's a notable difference between their temperatures; though Kaidan is warm like Drew, something feels different about it. Toby had been under the impression that Kaidan is human, and while he's second guessing now, he doesn't let his vague thoughts shine through.
"Wow, a year and a half..."
Dorian's been for over a year; when will he reach his year and a half? Toby wonders if he might perhaps stay here that long as well. Going back now... that's actually somewhat frightening, especially with the way things had been before his arrival here. But then again, look at how things are between him and Dorian here—it's not exactly the same, no. Though once again, they aren't exactly together, and Toby wants to go back and ask if Dorian wants him.
"I guess that's just a part of it, then. Something we eventually just fall into step with, a natural progression." He's thoughtful, and just a little wistful. While he might still be adjusting after having been here this long, Toby knows what it's like to look back after some stretch of time and really understand how things have changed, how certain progressions are strange when one sees the whole picture. With a small, quiet laugh, "But it's the sort of thing you think about and just realize that life really is bizarre."
