WHO: SEES, Jaime, potentially the Hamada bros and Gogo!
WHERE: OBSTACLE COURSE
WHEN: September 22nd.
WHAT: It's AKihiko's birthday, which means that they get to do something that Akihiko wants to do! That means physical activity. Tune in for: Akihiko whupping ass, and some of the lazier ones whining.
WARNINGS: Probable mild swearing!

Today, it's all about Akihiko. By now, Jaime's realized that the trip hasn't been exactly ideal for the guy - everyone rolling their eyes when he stopped the car to run, long periods of time doing nothing but standing in line or sitting on their ass - but now that he and Ken have come together to brainstorm, they've figured out something good to do.

Which is to say, one of the toughest obstacle courses that they could feasibly find within city limits.

Included are challenges such as giant structures and walls to climb, swinging on ropes across pits of cold water, hanging tires to jump across, and more! Feel free to have your characters work together, fall down, complain about it, or pass muster without even trying!

Of course, there are the festivities that come after -- namely, having a good meal after they've sweated their life out. Knowing Akihiko, it's going to be a place with plenty of protein to spare, but feel free to have a chat at the restaurant, and at least try not to fall asleep on the table.

Korean Barbecue.

You said a lot of protein, right?

General Starter

He hadn't really expected anything for his birthday to be honest. He never did. Most people back home didn't even know about it because it didn't matter. It was a day like any other and he'd treat it like that. He might be a hypocrite to make Shinjiro's or the others have value and then not value his own, but that could generally be common with people. It came to that and- his over all lack of friends in this world- though really that applied to back home as well. Even the friends he's made here he hasn't really told about it. So when he's contacted about meeting somewhere this day, and to find this all set up...

He's not really sure how to react to it.

It mostly looks like shock at first and slight confusion as to why before he feels excited about the course and how fun it looks. The boy ages down a few years even, even though his look of possibly child-like-joyful excitement is more like the grin of a cocky brat with a hunger for competition. He's excited though, and it can be seen in how little he asks about it all before getting right to a climbing wall.

[ A ] - Splash

Are you taking a long time to swing off the rope into a high swing over the water? Are you Shinjiro who some how managed to go up here to jump but is now being a whiny bitch about it? If either is true, then it's most likely Akihiko behind you suddenly shoving you off the platform and right into the water. Either you have a good hold of that rope and swing out to jump into the water or-

you just fall straight down into it. Be quick, the last thing anyone wants to do is a belly flop. It'll be so loud everyone'll hear and look over too.

After the fall, a second splash is quick to happen as Akihiko takes the rope and swings out high, taking to the water with a cannonball for the most optimal splash possible. He's laughing when he comes back up, moving a hand up through his hair.

"You didn't have any form, what was that?" Grinning wide, a face that really is saying, dunk me under, I deserve it.

[ B ] - Rubber

For a spat that is. The tires course is pretty easy over all, out of everything, or looks it anyway, so Akihiko's breezing through it. Moving so fast he's stepping on the same tire for a moment as the person infront of him and causing it to hop the other person back against him. The tire spins and gets the ropes tangled up with the ropes of the previous tire before it- the one Akihiko has his other foot on.

This all results in a tangled mess of Akihiko and the person ahead.

"Ah- damnit, too quick-" A huff, he shoves, trying to get it untangled and get away from you but of course this act only proves to tangle it more and get it even tighter.

[ C ] - Piggy back

The climbing wall he has the most interest in and actually has a good amount of experience with as well. He had a bit of experience with it even when he first got to this world, ended up opting for no harness or anything too. So he scoffs at this wall, looking up it, talking briefly to those around aiming to have a go up it as well before the conversation leads to-

"Yeah I could do it, I'll just carry you on my back up, as long as you actually hold on, it shouldn't be a problem, you think I can't do it? I'll show you." Great ideas with Akihiko Sanada everyone. Now to decide who's dumber, him, or you for taking him up on it. After all, it's a pretty high climb and does he pan on even wearing a harness just in case? It doesn't look like it.

[ D ] - All you can eat

That's what the place advertised, and he had read a few things about this place beforehand. He's never gone here yet or has he ever had Korean Barbecue. But from what he knows of it- cook your own protein, and all you can eat- he's into it, so it's what he offers as a place to go.

The table they get is long and has two grills on either end of the table. All along the table there are small dishes of additions meant to be dunked in or eaten with the meat that's chosen- raw- as protein. This ranges from beef to beef tongue, to tripe, squid, and kimchi pancakes. The selection of meat is rather wide and mostly thinly sliced. A waitress assists them with it, getting their drinks and then getting the first plates of meat ordered. Akihiko's quick to make a lot of additions, including tripe, marinated gogigui, and pork belly. Of course feel free to add even more to that, the bill will be high, 20-30 per person but considering the amount Akihiko will eat, not even including everyone else? It's a better option than a pay as you go restaurant.

He'll mostly keep his mouth full throughout the meal but will obviously be interrupted to speak here and there, so please feel free to speak to him, wish him a happy birthday or something. Bond. And after all that movement during the day and now all this food? He's content, happier to talk than usual. Satisfied even, it's kind of like when he'd get excited at moments during that huge trip only to often be shot down because of how stubborn and tiring he can be. Which honestly, he was both of those things.

Even right now it's just tiring to

watch him.

Eat.

Like that.

Where does it all go... Maybe you should actually... stop this. Or just say hey buddy eat up, it's your birthday! And then take mild pleasure in how sick he's gonna feel after.

Ken's actually been doing perfectly fine with these obstacle courses. He has more muscle than most children his age, and on top of that, he's got some extra jumping and speed to help him... and he's also light. There isn't much weight to his body dragging him down, and while that can take away from his ability to propel himself forward in swings, the muscles in his arms from years of swinging brooms and spears around have made up for it.

Still, he just happened upon this conversation when Akihiko points at him, so he blinks at him, looks down at himself, and looks up at him again.

"Do I really look that light to you?"

[ A ]

[In all fairness, Jaime is, in fact, better at the obstacle course than he ought to be for someone who never makes a show of exercising. He's been training long enough to be able to at least go through the obstacle course with minimum problems, but that sure doesn't mean that he likes it. After he climbs what feels like the fiftieth structure (it's the third, and he's a big baby), he flops down on the other side with a groan.]

People do this for fun? Oh my god, there's water next.

[Nobody told him he was going to have to get wet! Oh, god, the sacrifices he makes for his friends!]

[ B ]

[He's certainly in brighter spirits afterwards, however. Jaime's never so much as heard of Korean barbecue before, and there's nothing like a huge plate of sliced, raw meat and a grill in front of him to put a wondrous smile on his face.]

Why has nobody ever told me that places like these exist? [He takes another few pieces of meat from off the grill with utter delight.] This is amazing.

[Grilled meat! It's like Akihiko's chosen restaurant was picked out just for him.]

[The whole point of this little diversion was to take Akihiko out for something that he'd really enjoy, accompanied by friends who have no choice but to endure his undying desire to prove his athleticism. Jaime's pretty sure that he'll like it, but once he sees the shock on Akihiko's face, he can't help but feel a little kernel of doubt. He nudges Akihiko with one elbow.]

Hey... you like it, right? This is the kinda thing you have fun with?

[It better be, because that wall's looking awful scary!]

It's really nice to do something like this with the other members of SEES. Granted, everything back home was centered around a lot of dark and dangerous situations, it couldn't exactly be called fun- not that it was beyond Akihiko to call something like that fun. But going through obstacle courses with them... it felt nostalgic?

And while being nostalgic wasn't always good for them, this was a good sort of nostalgia that made his chest ache a little. It made him internally acknowledge how much he liked being a part of this team, here, and back home. And he could feel happy about it falling into huge pools and wandering over tires.

"Yeah? Did you put on some weight since you got here? It doesn't look like it." Says the guy that really beefed out since arriving here. Of course it doesn't look like it to him, he'd only notice if Ken really put on some weight, not anything subtle.

[He really did enjoy his life over all here. He liked working out, training, running around, he liked his nightly underground fighting, and he liked coming home to Shinjiro despite them having some bumps recently. But he usually enjoyed it in a less outward way. He was quiet about his life and just got to it on his own, did what he needed to. It was different to go out and be with people he knew. It's still something... he's getting used to.]

[Back home whenever he hung out with 'friends', as in SEES, it was usually and for the most part, a somber and violent experience. It was wandering around Tartarus every night fighting monsters that wanted them dead and empty, it was dealing with deaths and extreme situations, it wasn't... really a 'fun' sort of time. His association with that word 'friends' is different. So to spend time with them in a way like this, in how Disney Land had been- it's very different for him.]

Yeah! [Said with a smile, even Shinjiro could tell you, he likes it, he's not good at hiding how he feels. He smiles because it's great and it looks fun, and he wears all his emotions like a glaring red vest.]

Definitely, it looks like something I can easily tackle, but I'll definitely get a work out, especially if I'm trying to beat any of you guys through it.

"You make it sound like I got fat."

It's something he's worried about! Ken tried to stay active since coming here, training and sparring and giving it his all during PE, but it's nothing compared to nightly combat against monsters. Ken's actually a little heavier than most kids his age and size, but that's really because he has more muscles than they do. And he knows that. But that doesn't stop him from worrying, and at Akihiko's question he raises up an arm and pinches at the underside of it. Ugh!!!

"I'm just saying I'm not as small or light as people always say I am!"

"-What? I said it didn't look like it, you're still pretty small." He's not good at this at all. Small he meant like, a compliment?? Because you're NOT fat??

"You'll be light to me though, anyone here would be. I could lift you with a single hand here."

Super strength, brah. Not that he's that proud of it. At first it was amazing but now it sort of got in the way of actually strengthening his body. He could just rely on this power from the porter, and he couldn't even really shut it off, he just had to focus on reeling back. Some of the time he didn't even notice a burn from strength training anymore.

[You know who's actually enjoying this aside from Akihiko?

Koromaru is.

Ken is, too, for the most part, except the parts where Koromaru can't complete the obstacles himself, Ken's taken to letting the dog climb into the backpack he's strapped to himself and ride along... which is training enough for Ken, but also exhausting, so when Ken arrives at the top of the structure -- somehow scaling that wall with his little feet (he may have cheated with his jumping) -- he's out of breath and collapsing on his knees, genuinely exhausted. Wheeze. But Koromaru climbs off his back cheerfully and barks a greeting at Jaime as he bounces over.

THIS IS GREAT]

"I'm not that happy about that, either..."

He'd rather be a little bigger. A lot bigger! Why does he have to be so short? Even Dipper is only a year older than him!

"Do you want to use me as a weight then? You've been clearing these really easily. I can put Koromaru in here--" he jerks a thumb toward the backpack he has strapped to himself "-- too."

"Then work on it. Keep being active. We can try and meet up more if you need someone to getting you going." And you know he's serious about it. Really they don't run or work out as much as they could. Well- Akihiko does, but not them together.

"You and Koromaru?" A grin. This is dangerous as hell, not that that thought even crosses his mind.

"Yeah, let's do it." A look over to Koro. "You think you're up for it, Koromaru?"

"Believe me, Sanada-san, I am. I've been playing soccer at my school this year, but I'm always training." It's his pass time activity, almost, among other things. With that, his music lessons, and all the people he goes to see regularly, he's well on his way to protagonist-dom. Move over, Minato.

The backpack he has to day isn't a zipper one, so they don't have to worry about dropping Koromaru like that at least. He takes a minute to let the dog climb into it, making sure he's secure before picking him up, and then they're ready. One kid with a dog in a bag, doggy chin on his small shoulder.

"He's been doing this all day, he's more than ready."

"Soccer- oh yeah?" Brows up a little. He didn't know that about him... "You have a reason for going with soccer then?" Did he always like it? Akihiko had to be honest, with boxing, it wasn't some calling, it's just what he ended up liking the most. It could've been anything really to get him moving and working. Maybe it was something like that for Ken as well?

"I've always liked soccer! When I was at my school before Gekkoukan, I used to play with the other kids during break all the time."

That comes out without him really thinking about it, but he blinks, then lets it go. It's true, and he's been steadily recovering from the whole Crane fiasco, bouncing back to where he was emotionally before all this, and in that state, talking about his past wasn't as difficult.

"And it's good for my footwork and speed, since that's the most important thing for my fighting," he adds.

"...I didn't know that." Said kind of confused almost, his tone a little different from how it usually is. And enjoy the just as awkward silence afterwards as he glances down.

"Never really tried soccer out." A shrug.

"I guess it really would help out with your cardio too."

"There's a lot we didn't know about each other, wasn't there?" As SEES, he means, not just the two of them. He doesn't feel as awkward as Akihiko sounds, though, and moves toward him with Koromaru still resting on his shoulder.

"It keeps me in shape. You ready?"

[wow bro he wasn't being a whiny bitch so much as just.... assessing it. Some people don't just leap the fuck off platforms. But either way, he's down in the stupid water, coughing like an idiot for a moment,and jamming a finger in one ear, as though it will clear the water out of it.

But you know what? Yeah, he will dunk your ass. Deciding to ignore the swishing feeling on one side of his head, Shinjiro is quick to close the distance and shove Akihiko under momentarily, before continuing to move and get some distance-- and hopefully get out of the water before the inevitable retaliation.

Because let's be real- the odds of it becoming a dumb water fight are pretty high.]

[1 - bitching and moaning]
[For some people, this may be the first time they've seen Shinjiro in something other than his cowboy boots. While the rest of his wardrobe is the same (Jeans, a plain shirt, hair pulled out of his face-) at least he's got some ragged sneakers for this, knowing there will be a ton of running and climbing.

And damn is there a lot of climbing.

It's too the point that he's almost thankful for his Persona and the increased endurance and strength that accompanies it- Able to jump at a vertical wall and grab one of the thick ropes hanging from it, and haul himself up hand over hand- grumbling and grunting all the while.

(Hey, no one said he had to enjoy being out here and doing this, even if he's passable at it.)

A huff as he breaches the top and rests on a knee for a second- staring out at the next set of terrain- A sloped rope netting to climb back down, and something that looks like it will require low-crawling on knees and belly...]

Damn it... whose idea was this...

[uh it was partly yours, shinji. Or at least the idea that they needed to find a tough one. But now he's staring back down at that downward slope of netting, as though figuring out how to get down it without tumbling all the way to the bottom.]

[2 - end of the line]
[Even when he'd been practically homeless for over a year, Shinji doesn't think he's ever felt this disgusting. Grass stains, mud stains, scrapes on his knees and elbows, hair and shirt damp with sweat, and he's too damn tired to bring himself to care.

Here's hoping there's showers or something here for before they leave to go to dinner, or they will be a foul-smelling bunch.

Either way, he's rounded to the last few obstacles- those huge stacked bales of something that looks like Hay, and another balancing thing over water... and he shakes his head.]

Screw this- I'm done.

[His clothes are still soaked from Akihiko shoving him into the stupid grody pond water, he smells like swamp and sweat, who even knows what is happening with his hair and how tangled and bunched it is, the stubby ponytail having migrated farther off to one side, while other strands had fallen free. Nope, this is miserable, he's gonna be a quitter in the final stretch.

If anyone lets him, that is.]

[Assessing what? Falling into a damn pool? What was there to asses? You grab the rope and jump. You WOULD do this in a situation like this because it's meant to be a platform you just jump off of. So he just helped him a little, and he's laughing after following him down into the water, only to be shoved when Shinjiro comes at him.]

[The laughing stops, but only for a little while from water getting up in his face and he'll quickly move to shove right the hell back. Even if he started it by shoving him off the platform before any of this.]

Ha- no way- are you kidding me??

[Grinning, he'll YANK at his ankle and tug him back.]

[Yeah sorry, like 100% going to be a dumb water fight.]

[THE DUMBEST WATER FIGHT until whoever is working it yells at them to clear the pond, or something lands on them. Whichever comes first.

But for now? It is on.]

As-["-wharglblargl" as his curse is cut off with murky water in his mouth. The grab at his ankle had definitely unbalanced his swimming-- but it also gives him a good point to use his other foot and kick at the hand holding him. Sorry bro, but he knows your knuckles have taken way, way worse than some worn-out, wet rubbery tennis shoe soles.]

Good!

[That's all Jaime wanted to hear and it shows from the way Akihiko's words are met with a beam. Jaime may be a little more reserved, a little less nakedly honest than Akihiko, but good cheer isn't something he ever knowingly shies away from showing.

He's not exactly excited for a few of these obstacles, but he's willing to put in the effort for Akihiko's sake. It's no fun fighting against someone who's not into it -- and besides, Jaime knows that if he wants to complain, he'll have good company in Shinji.]

So which one d'you wanna try first?

Korooooo.

[Jaime's still laid out on his back, and shows no sign of wanting to move. Instead, he just sort of waves his arms in the air above him, trying to get Koromaru to come his way.]

You look like you're having fun, buddy. [He manages to reach Koromaru by extending his arms, placing his hands square on Koromaru's head, giving his ears a good scratch.] Maybe I can leech some of your energy like this...

[...oh, he hears Ken panting over there. He kicks one leg in Ken's direction, as if waving at him.]

You doin' okay, Ken?

[Well hey there, Shinji. For his part, Jaime jetted ahead for the first few obstacles, clearing them with ease, up until the point he got to the first water obstacle and fell in. His hair's gotten too long by now, long enough that he could probably pull it back into a stubby little ponytail, and now all of that hair is hanging over his face, dripping wet, with a branch stuck in the back of it -- and that's not even covering the mud and grass stains all over his sweats.

Which is why he's elected to sit here at the top of the wall instead of actually dropping down to the other side. Shinji's complaining is met with a roll of his eyes.]

Hey, don't look at me. You're the one who wanted to go for a hard one. [He stares down at his sad, sad running shoes.] You haven't fallen in yet, have you? It's like I'm a freaking walking puddle.

[They're also going to need to find a hose for Koromaru because the white dog is not so very white. Now that there are no more really tall obstacles, Ken had thrown off his backpack and told the pup to go fend for himself while he died a little on top of something. Ken is still there, still lying there taking a break after a few minutes of fighting koromaru like this.

But HERE IS KOROMARU. Muddy and a bit soggy and in the best mood any dog could ever be in. He is too happy to care that he is a gross dog. And he barks up at Shinjiro from right behind him (surprise) and then dashes around his feet in circles NO QUITTING NOW YOU WIENIE]
