DE CHIMA

[ the museum is not the largest on the east coast. not the second or third or even fourth. but the paleontology wing where claire works houses a handsome collection of fossils. signs take the place of what had been fully interactive areas in the park, but they do their job. the information is up-to-date — or something close to it.

if one stops in front of the assembled deinonychus fossil, the artist rendering on the stand in front of it is without one particular feature. ]

It's outdated, [ claire speaks from behind. she stands a couple of feet away in a simple pair of pumps. blue eyes lift from the drawing with a smile. ] Recent findings indicate that it, like the other Dromaeosauridae, was feathered.

[ the badge pinned to her skirt identifies her as one of the museum employees. and, yes, she pronounced the family name perfectly. ]

HEROPA

[ surprise rain caught her on the way back. not a heavy one. but there is enough water coming down to make running in her choice of color for her attire ( white ) tricky.

rather than get wet on the way, claire chooses to wait it out. a pastry shop nearby provides the perfect solution. sitting alone near the center of the room ( all of the corner tables were taken ), claire keeps a hand around her coffee as she types single-handedly with the other. whatever it is she is doing seems a shade complex judging by the little furrow between her eyebrows. claire drops her phone on the table with a clatter. ]

I need a tracking device, [ she says to no one. claire sighs heavily. ]
