After Bull's network post

[The moment he got home, he'd dealt with Bull, dealt with Charlie and Ken, and decided just what to do with Tetsuo now that he was in their custody once again. Truthfully, he'd agreed with their way of handling this--heal him just enough to keep him from leaving the house. Keep him in bed until further notice.

But there was still something else. Something Kaneda had to check for himself--as someone who'd lived in Neo Tokyo for as long as he did. He knew how to survive, and by default, Tetsuo did too. Once Bull's injuries had become the main concern, Charlie sitting down to heal him, he snuck into the room that had been empty for over a month.

It was weird...he'd walked in here so many times, only to find it empty. Now it was occupied, and an air of tension filled the entire room as he steps in, the first floorboard creaking. He flinches, as if the noise was enough to wake him out of consciousness. Knowing Tetsuo, he was always one to jump at the chance of a second wind. An incredibly admirable trait, if a bit aggravating when it wasn't in his interest. His footsteps continue, turning back to make sure Capsule stayed outside the door--the last thing he needed was his dog in Tetsuo's personal space when he was injured, and probably still volatile. He eventually pads his way to the bed, hands in pockets as he just...takes it all in.

Takes a moment to stare at him--it'd been a long time since they'd seen each other. Sure, Tetsuo had made tiny appearances on the network, but he was following scraps of knowledge. Audio posts, texts...the tail end of a bike...now this was what he came home to. Tetsuo hadn't looked this bad since...well, since Kaneda last saw him. Lacerations and burns spotted across his body, dirt and concrete smeared onto his face from hitting the ground...he'd lost weight, weight he couldn't afford to lose in the first place, face now sunken in some areas. The bags under his eyes? Almost like a mask.

What had the world done to you, Tetsuo...

But the thought is quickly shaken out of his head. Alright, down to business.

With an exhale, he reaches down to him, moving that arm out of the way as delicately as possible. It was amazing how heavy it felt, despite how thin it was. What DID matter was what Tetsuo had found along the way. Fingers trail down Tetsuo's shoulders, looking for anything hidden underneath his shirt, patting it gently. So far, so good. Nothing that Tetsuo had on him as of ye--

Oh.

His hands press to Tetsuo's waist, feeling a lump that felt considerably familiar. He -knew- what this was, and scrambled to pull the shirt a little, finding the gun that Tetsuo had acquired from Rick. Just where he had gotten ahold of that, Kaneda didn't know. But he knew something for certain--he didn't want Tetsuo having it if he could help it. Gently, as if he were handling glass, he pulls the gun out of that pant waistline, bouncing it in his hands a moment to check it.

He was definitely keeping a hold of this.

Tucking that into his jacket, he continues the search, patting one leg up and down, checking the boot...and then moving to the other one. Same thing. Nothing of note...oh. There's something in his pocket...

Digging a little more, he puts his hand in that pocket, pulling out a pill bottle of Anti-Inflammatory drugs. There's something familiar about it, a little TOO familiar as he turns it in his hands, rotating it around to look at the lid where a 'K' was written on top.]

Son of a bitch...

[He can't help but smile, shaking his head. You were there the whole time... There's something cynical, but at the same time delighted about that smile as it creeps across his face, fighting back watery eyes as he holds onto that bottle. It was used too, more than when he'd brought it.

There was certainly more than just aspirin in this now--and that...that catches Kaneda's attention. Something to look into later.

Pocketing that as well, he runs his hands down the rest of that leg, finishing the pat down. It seems like that was all Tetsuo had on him--his eye suddenly catching something on his wrist. A bracelet of some sort? Tetsuo wasn't the kind to wear jewelry, and even less so out in the open. Well, whatever it was, it couldn't be good. Best to just reach over and take that too.

His fingers loop around it for a second, running under it to try and pull it--and then it happens. Something...WEIRD happens. Kaneda can't describe it. It's like a tug at the back of his mind, something symbolically telling him no, that this was a bad idea. A hand goes to his temple, rubbing it slightly as he backs up. Confusion washes over his face, unsure what the -hell- just happened. A migraine suddenly? No...it was gone the moment he let go of that bracelet. So why...Another touch to it, and that feeling is back, twisting the back of his brain in irritation and sensory overload.

What WAS that thing?

Something he couldn't deal with right now. Too many and not enough time. He had to take what he got and get out before Tetsuo woke, so with the pills and the gun pocketed, he gives one last look to him before he turns to head out the door. Unable to find the right thing to say for a few minutes. Until...]

Welcome home, Tetsuo.

[And he's out without another word.]
