Be mine, sister salvation
WHO: Kaidan Alenko and Wanda Maximoff
WHERE: Archangel HQ
WHEN: Idk the weekend of 8/1
WHAT: People talking about training and teaching and maybe talking about traumatic pasts a little bit
WARNINGS: tbd
[ He hadn't actually come by to meet with anyone in particular, but to check in on Steve, and make sure that everything was alright on every front, but it seemed like he had everything under control. Kaidan didn't have to do much of anything, just wait for orders, which... he would admit, it felt a little like being back in the middle of the war, which wasn't exactly where he wanted to be right now. Not with the shifting landscape up top, and how powerless it seemed to be, fixing what had gone wrong before. Not that Kaidan didn't doubt Steve, but...
Well, after looking around, and poking his head, he saw someone he didn't recognize, and it took him a few, trying to work his way through a mental dossier before he recognized some of the key features. Enough that he could put together who it was supposed to be, and he squinted. Hadn't there been something about this person instructing people on how to operate more covertly?
This person? Not that Kaidan was one to judge -- of course he was -- but he was certain that she looked a bit too young to make those kinds of calls, or know how to train people to keep out of sight, and also keep themselves safe, but still do a job. Which meant that he wanted to nose in on what she was doing, and how she knew about what she'd set out to teach. Not that he was exactly going to come over guns blazing, and he stepped forward with a hand out, offering to shake. ]
Hey, are you, uh, Miss Maximoff? The person the Captain said was going to be teaching some of our people, right?

Does it matter? Even if I am her, you do not think I belong here.

[ That was...eerie, wasn't it? Sure he didn't think so, and his brain started to whir, in stuttering skips of trying to figure out what she meant. Guiltily, of course, the first thing he thought about was the fact that he had thought that, before he started to worry over posture and tone. He straightened. ]
I don't know? I mean -- you're... I don't know you? I mean, that's kind of why I came over -- to introduce myself?

[ Her brow quirks as she eyes him expectantly. ]
Well? Am I wrong?

[ He coughed, and shook his head. Immediately, he went straight for the obvious. She was pretty, but it went that far and stopped, because, well. Kaidan had someone waiting at home, you see, and it was still so new that he was still focused on that, and not even interested in what he'd once called "art appreciation".
He shook his head. ]
I think... I wanted to see what you were up to? Who you are? Get a sense for what you know, or why you're here helping us. In short, I don't know who you are.

I'm sorry. I meant to say-- I did not mean... that.
[ Thoroughly thrown off her high horse, she fumbles for a change of subject as quickly as possible. ]
I am learning the tempers of your recruits. How they think. If I know this, I think I can teach them better.
[ She pauses, clasped fingers twisting her rings, adding the afterthought of: ]
You can call me Wanda.

He ran a hand through his hair, nervous himself. ]
It's nice to meet you, uh, Wanda. I'm Kaidan, I'm... [ second in command? What does he even call himself, better go with something official, right? ] I'm one of the officers here. But, ah, the tempers are hopefully not so bad, or at least I'm crossing my fingers on that one. You don't want people with powers to have bad tempers.

[ Allowing herself a flicker of a smile, her head turns back to those who make up Archangel's current roster. ]
What Archangel is now, it is very different from before. Your leader likes to think the best of others, but I am not so foolish. I do not think all are ready for this change.
So I read them-- their tempers. Many will do well, but some, they are brash and like fire, and their hearts will burn down what you have built.
[ She pauses thoughtfully. ]
I am not one of you, but I do not wish to see you burn. This is why I am here.

[ He sounded surprised, but pleasantly so. He figured most people wanted to see Archangel burn, and while he didn't think Rogers would bring in anyone to do so, it was still...curious, to bring in an outsider for that. Mostly due to experience, but... He was already running a cell, he didn't need to be training as well. ]
And have you been impressed, so far. I mean, beyond the people who are brash, you're always going to get those, but you can...temper that, in my experience.
[ Hopefully, with less effort than what he had to go through. ]
