[Well, if she's not letting go, there's no reason for Will to let go, either. He wouldn't mind holding onto her hand for the rest of time, truth be told. He still remembers going into her hospital room and finding Hannibal asleep (or pretending to be asleep), his hand over hers. How compassionate and concerned such a gesture had seemed back then. How terrible, possessive and commanding, it had seemed after he realized the truth too late when Abigail was supposedly already lost to the world. Had been taken from him, from Alana, from Hannibal, from everything, from herself.

She looks good like this. Alive, not bothering to hide her emotions, free. Her ear won't come back. Her throat won't ever heal. But her hair will grow and she'll need new clothes, she'll need to eat, and drink. She'll blossom where she hadn't been allowed to before, and Will can't wait to watch that happen again. He'll be right beside her, supporting as much as he can, as much as he needs to. He'll be here to hold her hand so she can get up, or move to something else, or just whenever it feels right. Today, looking at her with a smile on his face that gives away he finds her idea absolutely perfect, nodding once, his hand on hers doesn't feel slick and warm. His mind doesn't make them coated with blood. Today, they're just Abigail and Will about to waste the afternoon with a fishing trip.

Will couldn't be any happier if he tried.
