He had even forgotten to take in a breath once he saw that face twist into something not completely fake, only for it to be covered right after. He knew he felt for the troupe, yes- but Chrollo had done so well presenting himself to the group when everything had happened. Not a hair out of place, not a twitch. Everything done professionally even if the group was a club, a hobby more than anything else.
But his little joke struck Chrollo like a fist to the gut, a fist Hisoka's never gotten to throw until- just then.
So his eyes are on him, they go dry, unblinking, wider than usual and he slowly sits up. Staring with this strange delight teeming in his chest. Delight mixed with- something else. Ah- perhaps he would've rathered anger. Is he- feeling slightly disappointed to see that weakness? It's certainly not him feeling- bad but. The delight he felt grows sour much faster that he's used to and the tension in his spine dissipates.
Sitting up further, he'll look him over and- loses his smile slightly, puckering his lips and licking them before he speaks again.
"Mmm~ Don't be so dramatic." Because he knows you know he lied. "Better than missing him, isn't it?" A slight smile, bowing his head and huffing out a slight laugh, though it feels oddly toxic in his mouth. "He can though- even him." Glances down, then up again.
"Any of them could, of course, but even he could." Since death doesn't seem to matter yet. Did Chrollo find that out yet? He's not exactly sure why he's saying this. Perhaps to not see- Chrollo hurt.
