Yuri stared at Dorian. He didn't know what to make of those three statements. Was the other man's sense of humor so morbid, or were two of those statements in fact true?
He did not want to guess which was the lie. The very thought sickened him. Again Dorian spoke frivolously of death, but not just any death—no, he spoke frivolously of deaths that had taken place so very close to him, the deaths of those that ought to have been loved ones...although lover, Yuri realized, did not mean at all that love had been involved.
"You're serious?" he asked after a moment, pale eyes narrowed. This game had gone from intriguing to infuriating in the span of a few minutes and, whatever Dorian's twofold intentions were, Yuri was no longer interested in trying to flatter him. Not if it meant taking death lightly. He'd meant it when he'd said law was his greatest passion and care-giving his second. How pitiful the people who trusted in this...creature keeping him company. "I'm sorry, but I am not going to attempt to answer that. I hardly think it is appropriate."
