purgation: THAT'S YOUR DEFAULT, IT IS KNOWN (Default)

Taking a seat on the sofa in the living area, Yuri pondered the three statements given to him by Dorian.

Imagining the other man in a band of any kind, performing and even singing, was not difficult in the slightest. In fact, Yuri thought the lifestyle seemed to suit Dorian, though if the man had ever been a performer, Yuri wondered why he wasn't pursuing the occupation now when he was most in need of something to fall back on. Perhaps...because he'd never been in a band after all? Or because he'd found the lifestyle wasn't to his liking? The second statement seemed possible in any case, for Dorian spoke with a clear and unadulterated English accent...but what kind of artist (particularly one used to having money and getting what he wanted) didn't travel?

Which left the third statement to consider, and truth be told, Yuri didn't want to consider it for very long. His initial impression? That it was true. Dorian lacked the discipline of someone who had been raised by his parents into adulthood, but that didn't necessarily mean that they had died. They could simply have been neglectful, or they could have given him up for lack of being able to provide for him...

He pursed his lips in thought, then, after a few moments longer, said at last, "I don't think you have ever been to America before you came to Heropa—which seems surprising to me if it is true." He wished that he could say he thought Dorian's parents hadn't died, but Dorian's overbearing sense of entitlement and his childishness at times spoiled that. And, perhaps, Yuri might have been swayed by a passage he had read in Oscar's book.
